  1. Yep use it exclusively in 9mm and 40. And if you want to add an extra prep process, you could run through a Lee/APP bulge busting step, which is a push through base size versus the rollsizer. People complain about "coke bottle" effect but this is literally a non issue and moot point. Dillon 9mm dies will coke bottle, depending on bullet diameter, but it doesn't make a difference. The u die does work the brass a bit more so you will get some brass shavings at the belling step but that's the nature of the game with undersizing. The case can be made there to use lube if you don't already (I don't). And as others have said, on a progressive press since the opening of the die is smaller (thus to undersize the brass) the case sometimes doesn't line up just right as you run up the brass and it take a wiggle or two, but this doesn't happen much. Additionally , if you like to shoot blue bullets who by standard sells undersized bullets for 9mm and 40 (.355 and .400 respectively) you will find a benefit to undersizing and giving yourself neck tension. If you religiously use .356 and .401 then the neck tension benefit of the u die diminishes a little bit but then you still will likely want another method to make sure there are no low base bulges. Resort to the Lee FCD as a last measure until you have tried other methods of correcting issues. It almost always will swage your projectile and almost always will introduce the ability of the finished round to set back by way of taking neck tension. The one useful purpose of the FCD is it's role in the bulge busting kit however, if you do that processing step. One anecdotal note, I tried a 45 u die and for that caliber it had a high degree of split case mouths both on the press and after firing. I think for that caliber it just works the brass a bit too hard. In 9mm and 40 though, it's a damn good piece of kit and should be on your press.
  2. Oh i think the tooth is there. Good right? I did fire another 100 rounds in practice today, stock mags only, and they all were fine. Beginning to think it was mostly related to the CZC springs. Would this be the correct extractor, just so I can have an extra on hand? https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/extractors/cz-75-extractor-40-s-w.html
  3. I didnt know that. Thanks. I did get a grams 11 coil/follower but BSPS only had one. Ill see how that one goes, and Ill also play around with the stock springs too.
  4. So you're saying OE springs and followers in the longer config? That's what I thought the 13 coil ones would aid in reliability for? I just assumed they wouldn't have the "oomf" to push a 20 round fully loaded mag up to feed properly. In any case, I'll experiment with that on the range this afternoon.
  5. Where would you get a 40 extractor? I see 9mm ones at Cajun but not 40. Thought about getting an extra one to keep on hand but ran into that. Would it be this one? https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/extractors/cz-75-extractor-40-s-w.html Here is the one In the gun currently.
  6. Maybe I counted wrong. Whatever the longer config is. So I ran the stock mags today with 180 rnfp, loaded to 1.126-1.129. all fine. So must be something with the extended springs/follower. Need to get my hands on some grams but he doesn't pick up the phone, return calls, or answer emails. He still in business?
  7. Got a new-to-me TSO in .40. Generally, really loving the gun. Day one, using supervel factory ammo, about 10 of 100 rounds had feeding issues. Second day out I loaded up some blue bullets 180s to 1.160, and 200s to 1.110. So pretty long, or, pretty short. Didnt have an issue. When testing out some different weights of factory stuff yesterday, it did NOT like PMC 180s. It would look like the pics Im posting below. I have 3 mags with the CZC baseplates and some 13 coil springs, and 3 factory mags that are stock from what I can see. When doing some drills with dummies I made of those previously mentioned blues 180s/220s at 1.160/1.110 respectively, I would get about one misfeed per magazine. I believe these are CZ custom bases springs and followers? At first I thought it was me just getting used to the thumbrest after not having a gun with one before. But, I really dont think thats whats causing these now. Also, chamber is reamed so it can load quite long if I desired. I heard sometimes the extractor spring channel gets dirty, or the springs can be replaced, so I placed in a brand new extra strength CZ custom one a few days ago. Is it that these springs and followers just suck? Should I have the mags tuned? Ive seen people mention grams for tuning, but not sure if theres stuff I can change on my own without replacing everything in the gun. Currently really liking the 15lb recoil spring with 165-180gr bullets so thats whats in there at the moment.
  8. Oh I meant to post this one. So it appears you selected a different than what I would have thought to use. CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow/Shadow Line-Tactical-Phantom & TS Orange – DPM Systems Technologies Ltd
  9. What guide rod did you go with? Or is that what comes with DPM?
  10. Ok good to know. I had been eyeing the DPM system today as a matter of fact. I was curious though, would it contribute to short stroking ever so slightly just like the shock buffer makes? Have you had any feeding issues with it? I have CZC basepads with I believe grams follows/springs in the extended mags. I havent loaded the 180s shorter yet, just to that above- spec recipe at 1.160. I will have to try them shorter and see how it changes, but will have to experiment with the data.
  11. Small update, just returned from the range testing some blue bullets/sport pistol loads. I tested: 180gr Blues, at 1.160 (book data) , settling at 4.6gr being good for making PF 200gr blues, loaded short to 1.110, loads were too weak to make PF but I kind of liked the feel. Will test some more .1-.3gr more powder i think tomorrow. But regarding my feeding, everything went off without a hitch. Odd. What I changed before going out to the range: Took out the shock buffer Took off the thumb rest Maybe it was one/both of those things contributing to the feeding. Knock on wood it went through 150 rounds in all different mags just fine. Im debating on trying other gas pedals or just sticking some grip tape in that area and seeing how I feel.
  12. Good to know! I came from the 9mm school where heavies are "better" and really loved the 147gr, so when I bought a spread of stuff to try for .40 I got some on the heavier end too. Only 250 of the 200gr blues though, so no big loss if the gun isn't a fan. Thanks for the input.
  13. Thanks. Yea the only real reason I was inclined to try the 1.16 data for sport pistol was because it was on the alliant load data. I intend to whip up a shorter 180gr load, just have to be more exploratory with testing. The 200gr is a bit stubbier and flatter than the 180gr so maybe that one could feed well.
  14. I also have three stock mags/followers, and did get the issue a time or two on those too so I'm suspecting it would "not" be mag dependent. But I did not think to ditch the buffer when I was at the range but will do that next time. Cooking up a few loads today to test, so I'll have 180gr blues loaded past Saami (1.160), 200gr blues loaded shorter like 1.115, and then 180gr supervel at a out 1.135 oal. I'll test all on both followers, and ditch the buff.
  15. I'm suspecting this haha. It is a little thin for my hand size so I may reluctantly have to ditch it. Or just find a wider one.
  16. 4 lbers of n320 have been online multiple times this month. In fact grafs had 4 lbers just this week of it!
  17. Yes the gun is reemed. so the supervel is 1.135, and the load i plunked is even longer at 1.16, plunked just fine. could it be the recoil spring is too light?
  18. Got a new-to-me TSO in 40. Put the first rounds through it today, only had supervel RNFP on hand, 180gr. They're loaded to about 1.132 give or take. Had maybe about 7-10 rounds out of 100 get jammed on the feed ramp. A little pull back on the slide a couple mm and it would feed fine. Im wondering if perhaps the gun just didnt like the ammo? I intend on loading a recipe of sport pistol at 1.160, and I got home and prepped up about 12 dummy rounds at that OAL, with the blue bullets 180gr RNFP, and they all cycled through it just fine through every mag. The shock buffer was pretty beat up when I pulled it out, I put a new one in there but Im not sure if the gun needs them, or if it could cause feeding issues to use? I have a few different recoil spring weights available, and I believe the 13lb is in there, but I do have a couple lighter and couple heavier. 3 mags of stock TSO .40 magazine, and 3 more mags with CZ custom base pads with grahams 13 coil spring and follower (or maybe its 14 not sure which they make). Seems like it did would get caught up in any of the mags randomly. Gun is generally clean and tightly fitting otherwise, its seen some good use before me but otherwise appears relatively tidy. Could it be in need of a stronger extractor spring? I guess Im just spitballing to get a general conversation going, first time firing the gun today and wanted to go back to the range with a few ideas in my back pocket tomorrow or thurs. Guess Ill have confirmation for sure if the gun doesnt like the blue bullets recipe and behaves the same way. Sometimes a gun is just picky and hates a certain profile/OAL i guess. Another thought that I can confirm next range trip....I wonder if since this is my first time owning a gun with a thumb rest that maybe Im contacting the slide too much? It does seem a tad thin. Perhaps I could be putting the brakes on the slide?
  19. Here is a snip from my loading log. I thought I had done more powders but apparently just hp38. Both made power factor without stretching it much at all, the powder did it nicely. With a longer barrel aka shadow 2/TS2 etc, 3.6 would definitely be the ticket I think, if good PF is your goal And the real world results were damn close to the simulation in GRT. Dont mind the listing for bayou in there, I had to use that entry to modify for my blues projectile specs. It was just as soft a shooter as 147s. I think the 135 is a great choice middle ground. Right around 70% case fill for both weights tested by the way.
  20. Im finding conflicting info, what is the stock width/height of the TSO front sight, and also the stock fiber thickness? For simply changing the optic color, is it just smarter to leave the stock in place and drop in new fibers or is anything to be gained by putting an aftermarket one in. Who sells just the proper fiber without spending more on shipping? Its almost worth it just to buy the new front sight while Im at it. Do they usually come with a new pin or can the pin be reused?
  21. I ran the 135 TC in .356 from blues. I found it to be a great middle ground and it was inclined to feel a bit more "147" but returned to battery quite nicely. Id load more if my p07 didnt lead so much with .356.
  22. What did you settle on? I have a DAA race holster and was thinking of getting the insert, since i currently use it with my revolver. guess ill be looking at GX or RHTs offerings
  23. This chamber has been reamed so I believe the previous owner has taken it out to 1.18 even. I figured 1.16 is a good baseline for the long loads. I dont have it in-hand yet but I will confirm as soon as I do.
  24. Can you elaborate on why some do that? I'm seeing it a lot in .40 as I research, and wondering if it's Superior ballistically or just for feeding reasons etc?
