  1. Please give this forum a dark mode, would be awesome. Unless Im too blind to see where it is at and its already an option.....
  2. What is your OAL? Ive been loading 4.5 of sport out to 1.123 or so, and got about your PF. I chrono'd everything in the winter though, and today I ran it through again. From about 171 PF down to 165. About a 25 degree difference warmer today too. I guess thats the "reverse temp sensitivity" people talk about with it
  3. Thanks for the info. I am going to try the dillon plug, then when Im working with that, going to send off my lee plug to the factory. Just read the turnaround time was 8 weeks though, but Im not in a huge rush.
  4. Im actually switching to the dillon die for seating so we will see. I love the adjustable lee seating die for round nose, but Im thinking i will need to ditch it. Not really a huge deal though since I load about 95% one specific profile and rarely will need to change.
  5. Yea they all definitely plunk in the dillon gauge and the barrel of my cz. Its not really the coke bottle, its the fact the bulge is just on one side of the case. not all around.
  6. saw this thread, but again out come the recommendations to just ram it through the FCD to hide the problem. Pretty sure this is all about crooked seating?
  7. So I load on a 550, and up til now have been checking my loaded rounds using a dillon single case gauge. I got a hundo recently, and the undo must be made a bit tighter because a round here and there that all pass the dillon gauge will fail the hundo. So I got to inspecting the rounds better, and it looks like an ever so slight bulge at the base of the bullet just on one side of the completed round. I just checked my press index today, and everything was fine. a bit about my setup/recipe: 180gr blues RNFP, .400 COAL about 1.123 Lee u-die station 1 Station 2 was dillon expander but recently switched to the photoescape funnel from uniquetek due to success in other calibers. it flares like an M die. Station 3 lee adjustable seating die. I believe it is a one size fits all seating stem Station 4 dillon crimp Im wondering if its going in slightly crooked because Im using the generic round nose seating stem, and I should be using a flat nose? I do have a dillon seater coming, and those can easily switch between RN and FN profiles. I had a thought that maybe it was the u-die undersizing brass making the bullet squeeze its way in there differently, but it also happened on standard resized brass as well. Anyone have any input?
  8. I am using a Redhill tactical with the TSO and thumb rest. Although as I look at the version 3 profile thumbrest, I wonder if it will work in my holster. My holster works great with the version 1 profile (the one that came with TSO) But I really want the racing green style one bad. You cant get them anywhere.
  9. Ive actually been toying with the DPM systems 3-spring setup. You can definitely tweak the feel of the recoil impulse with it. I already shoot 200 rounds a session as it is, but it definitely takes a pile of ammo to get the feel right. I was using the 16lb with the factory guide rod, then moved to a 15lb. Now Im on the DPM setup CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow/Shadow Line-Tactical-Phantom & TS Orange – DPM Systems Technologies Ltd
  10. Then by that logic (which is kind of flawed about the shorter chamber), you would be magnifying your issue by spiking pressures with a deeper seated projectile (aka heavy and longer into the case). You need to try 165s and 180s if you want better luck tracking sights in my opinion. I thought the same exact thing at first. They may "feel" snappier but you'll find the sights can return quicker and if it's sprung right the muzzle Rise/dip is neglegent.
  11. What OAL? I load 1.120 with 180s. 4.5gr sport pistol, or 4.5 gr hp38. for very close velocities
  12. I came to 40 from shooting 9mm in production and fell in love with 147s. they are as good as it gets for 9mm, in my opinion (and many others). so I thoughts "oh so heavy for caliber bullets will always be better" but really wasnt happy with 200s in the tso. Switched back to 180 blues and very happy. I have some 165 blues but they have a really odd profile that I will have to revisit. it limits your OAL options
  13. 220s are definitely heavies....youll be able to watch that slide return to battery and make a sandwich in between
  14. Get the TSO or pick a powder yet? I am using blues 180gr RNFP and loving HP38, as well as sport pistol. N320 is also trusty. cant go wrong with either of those 3. hp38 was easiest to make PF with the heavier bullets
  15. As far as I can tell the DPM does not shorten the stroke but using a shock buffer will. I'm still going through testing different permutations so it's hard to say any definitive conclusions on performance yet. It's nice having a lot of adjustability though. You have four different types of springs to play with as well as different lengths of buffer tubes to change the main recoil spring preload (at least I'd call it preload , might be a different word for it)
  16. I've been fooling with the DPM system on my TSO in 40 this week. Their instructions don't correctly correlate to the spring setup that I have in the box. But by process of elimination I have figured out what spring weights are what, I think... And any combination of springs doesn't change the ejection distance so I wouldn't be getting too wrapped up in how far the gun launches brass when shooting major power factor. Probably when shooting minor they are much more effective. but to be honest as long as the gun feels good and returns to target like I want, it then I'm not too wrapped up in how far it's throwing brass. Anyone else use the DPM setup on the TSO?
  17. Damnit I want that thumb rest, unobtanium
  18. I ditched the buffer in mine because I was troubleshooting feeding issues. Definitely softened things up a little, but id rather not have to add another layer of things to consider when troubleshooting problems. I have a 14lb right now for 180s at 170 power factor, although admittedly I thing I can go lighter. But yes, it launches brass to the moon no matter what. The only brass that I could get it to keep relatively close to me were on my 200gr loads, but I didnt settle on using 200s. I got a DPM dual spring setup coming in the mail...somewhere on its way from greece at the moment. Just another tool for the toolbox to see if I really like it.
  19. So you think you were just shortstroking the trigger? easy to do, especially if you havent tuned the trigger spring to your liking. I also have a beloved r8. Apex trigger and a extended pin. Pulls at about 7 lbs flat.
  20. Good to know. Was thinking of running this gun in steel challenge as well, but was likely going to do major PF for the trigger time. But wont go head first into that until I get this feeding sorted. For now, the wheelgun is dedicated steel challenge
  21. Yea the shock buffer was tossed on day one, after I did some research and recieved that advice. I currently am about 169 PF with these RNFP blues, at 1.125. I am using the 15lb spring but I have a 14 and 13lb. You think the 15lb is too heavy? I admit I havent had the time to take video and do some thorough analysis of follow up shots to see how the muzzle is moving under fast shooting. Maybe I go with the 14 or 13lb and test out this week.
  22. And just for reference, here is the 165 blues versus 180s. I got the behavior Ive been discussing with multiple profiles and on factory, but, the odd rim on the blues 165s was something worth noting. I didnt notice it at first but its also pictured on their site, so i guess its part of their mold. weird.
  23. It has done with the first round off a mag, its done it after firing several. It seems to be hit and miss. Ive also starting filling the stock mags to one short of full, to try and isolate an absolutely jammed full mag being finicky.
  24. Yep it has that little rim, which is odd. I guess that could be driving some issues. But I go back to.....is this gun THAT picky with bullet profile? Guess I load up some more 180s and test the concept.
  25. The struggle continues. Had a few perfect sessions with 180 RNFP and stock mags feeding fine. I go to test 165 blues that I recently acquired, and I had two misfeeds. Id hate to think this gun/feed ramp is THAT picky with bullet profiles but maybe it is so? Loaded to 1.125. I will go back to 180gr Blues RNFP to confirm that assessment and see. The profile of the 165 and 180 is virtually identical however. I do have a spare extractor coming so I guess I can experiment with replacing that, as well as clipping one spring coil from my extra extractor spring. This one has me scratching my head but Im trying to me systematic about what variables Im testing.
