  1. i mean if the gun goes off outside the shooters area, thats a dq anyway. Im not against Ros, Im against ones that dont know the rules and then call things they didnt actually see. if you cant clearly see the one or two degrees that broke the 180 then you shouldnt call it. obviously if the person has clearly turned around or the muzzle is clearing pointing backwards while their running a stage then its obviously a dq. When an RO calls a dq and then i go back on my wide angel video and clearly never see the muzzle break the 180, thats what im against
  2. i mean he did learn though because it didnt happen again the rest of the match.
  3. unless its a very obvious breaking of the 180 im just going to give them a warning. If they are facing backwards and holding the muzzle of the loaded gun at the crowd then yea ill dq, but up until that point i give the shooter the benefit and a warning. I think a dq should be witnessed by at least two people anyway. I know there is certainly not enough people at a local match to make that happen, but more than once it has happened where i got dqed off something someone thought they saw when no one else saw it. I even went back on video after and confirmed that it didnt happen. would you rather just get dqed and not shoot a match because some idiot RO has an axe to grind? when its other people its easy to say dq. when you are the one getting dqed over s#!t that doesnt exist because the RO is an idiot its a different story
  4. i agree with this. it took me exactly 1 time for an RO to hand me a dq for something he though he saw(which he didnt) for me to start running with the gun clearly in view and pointed in a safe direction. If im running backwards you can be guaranteed im sticking the gun out and running like sonic if i have to just so he can make sure he doesnt think hes sees something
  5. ok i mean i guess throwing dqs works for you. when im the RO im not trying to send someone home. IF they are pointing their loaded gun at others and its very clear that has happened ill throw the dq, but it does no good to just dq a new shooter. That does nothing. in the 20 years i have of shooting behind my back ive never had any incident on any range with any shooter. I have been dqed a few times for stupid s#!t, but several of those times it was just because an RO had a chip on his shoulder and wanted to know what it feels like to send people home. im not saying every incident isnt dq worthy, but coming to a match with the mindset of sending someone home is really just an a_-hole RO move
  6. oh one thing ill add. Benefit ALWAYS goes to the shooter. IF the RO cant blatantly see what happened and make a definitive call on it, than the benefit goes to the shooter
  7. i try to never send people home, unless its a chronic issue affecting the safety of others that ive already warned them about twice. They paid for the match and they are there to have fun. Most of what i shoot is level 1s My go to is a private safety warning. Most times the other shooters wont even know im talking to the person. I had a new pcc shooter in my squad last week. he was on deck to shoot and while the other shooters were shooting pulled his pcc out of the bag and it was pointing downrange but behind the line so facing people He didnt know. i just said woah woah put that back, then when he did i just said hey thats how accidents happen when you get called up to shoot thats when you unbag, he also didnt have a chamber flag, which i gave him. The point is, its more effective to tell someone the reason something is unsafe and to allow them to learn from it than it is to just send them home. that doesnt contribute to the growth of the sport at all, it just demoralizes people. the new shooter never had another safety issue the rest of the match, he was mindful where his muzzle was pointed and he had a great time. i know ive been very close to the 180 at times and it was much appreciated to just get a stern talking to from the RO instead of an outright DQ You learn from your mistakes and you dont do it again
  8. if youre just using it for 3 gun stay with shadow 2 if youre using it for open uspsa go with 2011
  9. I run a 17 lb ismi mainspring and 7 lb ismi recoil spring with a nice smooth radiused FPS I tried 15lb springs and i had ftfs, i even tried 17s with coils cut and 15s with coils cut. Once i moved back to a normal 17 mainspring everything started going boom again. I tried an 8,9,and 10 lb recoil spring and the 10 and 9 just felt too stiff the 8 felt ok and the 7 felt the best my load is 9.6 grains AA7 under 124 grain cast lead bullets at 170 PF
  10. the always seem to have tons of steel since they have so much space to make use of
  11. Shot a great match over the weekend! This is the type of match i love!. Tons of steel and tons of wide open targets for hosing! I had some issues on the first stage but i found my groove by stage 2. I did gods work on the texas star on stage 5 and gods work on the steel in stage 2!. Still have a lot of things to work on with the main one being transition time between targets
  12. i paid 300$ for all of them theres something to be said here for always being nice to people you meet. it goes the other way too, if any of these guys ever needed anything id give them the shirt off my back
  13. i put some feelers out among some local shooters and ended up with 15k primers. about 5k small rifle, 5k small pistol, then 5k small pistol mangum Needless to say i bought them all
  14. ive shot both 115s and 124s/5s out of my open gun and theres no difference in POI even out to 30 yards. I put the dot in the same place regardless of 115 or 124 and have no issues cleaning plate racks. at a certain point it becomes the shooters ability and not the weight of the bullets that are causing missed shots Now if your shooting bullseye or usps out to 50 or 75 yards there might be a couple inches of drop out that far
  15. ive run nitro fins on all my guns....and i just got a frame mounted and its way better. at least for open i feel like i can get my hand higher on the gun which controls recoil more
  16. I only used small rifle primers in my open gun until last week when I found a bunch of small pistol primers and theres a huge shortage of rifle primers
  17. just get a redding competition seating die. Has a micrometer ontop so you set it once and it loads to the same length each time
  18. Shot a really fun match at a smaller range. I'm starting to really love this range because all the USPSA matches are 5 or 6 stages and we are always headed home by 2pm. I felt that I did really well (minus leaving a standing steel on one stage). Overall I placed 22nd out of about 70 shooters. Still have lots to work on. The journey continues.
  19. a glock in open? what year is this? bobby is one of the most down to earth nice guys you will ever meet. Years ago i got a barrel and comp from him and the hood was a bit too large. He told me to send the entire upper back to him and he would fit it and install it and send back a completed upper free of charge. I will always recommend his work because it is excellent.
  20. i also run an extended firing pin, stock firing pin spring (i think 24 lbs) and a 17 lb mainspring. I found a sleeve of 5k wolf primers...im just concerned my gun wont touch them off. I had a previous experience with wolf primers and FTFs, but i cant remember if that was around the same time that i was messing with all the springs
  21. I think its the earlyness that's messing me up. I was all ready for October/November to be dry as dust
  22. i went through all of those sites and none of them have anything in stock lol
