  1. Thanks for asking about this, squirrel45. I was curious also. Don't think I need one for my S2 orange. The trigger is so light from the factory, I appreciate the pre-travel being what it is. I have larger hands too, so the reach is not an issue for me.

I'm sure it varies quite a bit by store. Our local Bass Pro was a Cabela's before the buy out. AFAIK, it's the only Cabela's that was converted into a BP store. Cabela's had a big reloading area, and that remained after it became a BP. There has been some reduction of that recently, though. We were up at the BP motherhsip in Springfield, MO last weekend, and they have a pretty good reloading area too. But I've been in BP's in other states where that was not the case.

If you have a local Bass Pro or Cabela's, you may want to give them a call and see how they're doing their ammo sales. Every store seems to do it a little differently. At my local one, they put a sign out front every morning saying if they got an ammo shipment or not. If they did, folks start lining up early. They hand you a number while you're in line and the ammo sales counter process in order. I got in line about 15 minutes before they opened today and scored 2K of CCI #500 SP primers at $36.99 per 1000. Limit is 1000 per customer per day, so the wife and I both got a box. They had a bunch of Federal primers and a lot of loaded ammo, too. Limit of 5 boxes of any ammo, mix or match. 8 boxes if you're a BP or Cabela's Visa card holder, or what they call a "club member". Hope you're able to find some.
  4. Thanks again. They are out of stock, but I put it on my wishlist.
  5. Looks good. I have a different style that just slides the ramp in and out. Don't use it often, but it's nice to have the option.
  6. Can you give me a link to the lower profile slide stops? I'd like to try one. Thanks.
  7. Went well at the range today. Not sure if cleaning the mags was the key, or seating the bullets a little further, but it locked back reliably on each empty mag. I only put a few rounds in each mag to test it quite a few times. 4.9 grains of 231, 115gr jacketed RN, 1.130 OAL, WSP primers. I may still replace the slide stop spring, just for insurance sake. Appreciate everyone's input.
  8. I'm a little doubtful since the slide locked open every time with the Unique load, but I will try it. I still have a couple of boxes of the Unique loads left after I switched to 231, so ran a few rounds of those to confirm. It still locks open with those. Every time. I thought seating the bullet further would result in a little higher pressure, which I was hoping would help the slide travel far enough back to lock. I was not able to test yesterday, though. We had a little icy weather. Got to the range and found a "closed due to weather" sign on the door. Hopefully test today, if they're open.
  9. Yes, same problem on all 3 stock mags. I did clean them all last night, and they were dirty. Hope to never use Unique again. Glad to have my stash cleaned up. My reloads were on the long end of things at 1.165 OAL, so I decided to push the bullet in a bit more too. Running 1.130 to see if has any impact. All Win says about the OAL is to list a max of 1.169.
  10. Thanks for the additional detail. Stock mags, stock springs. I did clean/lube the mags/springs when it was new in December of 20, but will do it again. Unique is awfully dirty, so could be I guess.
  11. I don't know what "grams springs" are. The springs I've tried have been the CZ factory ones that were supplied with my new gun, and the Cajun Gun Works 10lb "white" spring.
  12. Thanks, but that does not explain why it always locks open when using Unique. I will pay more attention to that at the range tomorrow though.
  13. I've had my S2 orange a few months now and have been shooting it regularly. I happened to be loading 115gr jacketed RN with Unique when I bought the gun, and the gun would lock open when empty with that load. I was just looking to use up the last of the Unique I had, which I did recently. Went back to some tried and true Win 231 loads and even at the max load, the slide won't lock back. Tried some factory 115gr range ammo too (blazer, white box and herters). None will lock the slide open. All of the above loads lock the slides open on my Sig X5, P229 and P320's. So I figured recoil springs. The orange comes with 2 extra, but same problem with any of the springs. Ordered the CGW "white" 10lb spring. Really thought that would do it, but no joy. I clean the gun after every other range trip. Stock firing pin/spring. Stock trigger return spring (although I have the CGW lighter one on the bench). I did put a lighter hammer spring in, one of the ones that came with the gun. Is this just a thing with the S2? I do not want to shoot Unique long term. Dirty powder. And at 5.7gr, the case is full enough that I have to slow down my reloading so it does not spill.
  14. Thanks Pcar. Learn something new every day. Good to know.
  15. You misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not the guy asking about removing the posts, as I told him it was a bad idea too. My point was if the R1P and DPP both fit the Sig RXP optic cut, why don't they both work on the DPP plate? Sig had to make the M17/M18's with the DPP footprint for the military. The R1P was introduced mostly so that Sig would have an optic of their own to fit that same footprint.
  16. I'm not doubting what you're saying, but it does not make sense to me. I'm also in the Sig world, and their RXP factory cut will handle the DPP and R1P. So I assumed they were fully swappable optics for any slide or plate that supported either one.
  17. Hard to understand why one BP or Cabela's would price gouge while some don't. Your friend must have been pretty desperate to pay $1.20 a round for white box.
  18. You need the posts. The site will move around otherwise, screws will loosen, etc. Does a DPP fit? Just wondering if you got the right plate.
  19. I asked about the 223/556. They did not have any "range" stuff. The cheapest they had were some 5.56 at $90 per 150. Didn't buy any. I have enough, and we don't shoot a lot of it, but lots of folks were snapping it up 5 boxes at a time.
  20. NW Arkansas area. Less than 2 hours to Bass Pro HQ, but it was not at the Springfield store.
  21. How big where the boxes? They have 200 round packs of those. If that is the case, he got 1000 rounds for $300, so 30 cents a round. That's pretty much what I paid for the Herter's stuff yesterday with taxes included. I had not heard of any price gouging from Bass Pro/Cabela's, or Academy for that matter.
  22. Local Bass Pro got a bunch of ammo yesterday, and it's not the first time recently. Wife and I walked in around 10:30 and got 5X50 Herter's 9mm 115gr range ammo at $13 a box. They had a fair amount of about everything. Several 1000 primers too, but mostly SRP, not SPP. Hope this is a sign that things are improving.
  23. If I went the CZC RDS route, I'd opt for their new steel plates. Holds the threads better and you can torque higher. But I doubt that would make IDPA weight. That's my goal too. CGW assures me that with their optic cut for the SRO, I will make IDPA weight. So the slide is going out today to them.
  24. I'd guess the steel milled off would equal or exceed the weight of the optic, since most of them are made of aluminum.
  25. That gap is kind of ugly. And it does not hold the optic as securely as a direct milled slide. CZC is making some of the plates out of steel now, so that's a plus. Threads don't pull out when you're trying to torque the optic down. The lightening thing was for when the Shadow 2 would not make the cut for the ISPSA Carry Optics specs. It was too heavy. Not the case anymore, ISPSA changed the specs and the S2's make the cut stock now.
