  1. I love my JP rifle, and think their products are amazing, but the MPX Gen 3 is still a better platform. Ask guys like Keith Garcia or Zack Smith what they think about the platforms.
  2. I actually think getting an MPX would be a better training tool than an AR9 based on the recoil impulse. I run a JP 16" upper for 3 gun with an adjustable gas block, LMOS buffer, and SCS, and it pretty much has no recoil. Jumping between that an a straight blowback AR9 platform (MBX Extreme PCC) was really different; lots more dot bounce and recoil in the PCC platform. I'd have to use a lot more technique to control my PCC than my 3-gun rifle, and it wasn't as direct a carryover. I now run an MPX Gen 3, and based on the design, the recoil impulse and dot movement are much more similar to my 3-gun competition rifle. The weight is pretty comparable, and my lowers are set up pretty much exactly the same, so picking up one and then the other has an almost identical feel. I generally run 2x4 Tac when able, and really focus on shooting matches rifle/PCC for speed. Just my $0.02.
  3. Get the Hiperfire Eclipse, really similiar break with a more positive reset, and works great in PCCs. I started with an AR Gold flat trigger in my rifles, then went switched to the Eclipse in my PCC (both AR9 and MPX) and much more pleased with the performance. If I started from scratch, I’d 100% go with the Eclipse with no extra shoe. I waited for a sale and got mine for a great deal from Brownells for only $200.
  4. Shooter's Connection; they always have a few in stock ready to ship, and provide a great competition-ready configuration. I've bought multiple guns from them, and their shipping is incredibly fast, with great customer service.
  5. I have a Versamax Competition Tactical tuned by RCI, and it's terrible. Ran it for Hard as Hell in Utah this past December, and I was ready to spear throw it into a berm. Unreliable, lots of light strikes, misfeeds, poor POA/POI. After that, I put in an order for a custom Benelli, and it runs like a dream. Everyone I know with the Breda loves it; solid loading port from the factory, and interchangeable parts with the Benelli. If I had to buy a shotgun with no aftermarket work, I'd go with the Breda.
  6. Hayes gave me the run around for months; after the appropriate wait time, they told me the gun was ready to ship, and then 5 weeks later I was told they were still waiting on extension tubes (after I called and emailed multiple times). Total wait time clearly blew through their stated delivery timelines, and overall was extremely unimpressed with the customer service. My TTI M2 was placed in February this year, with delivery clearly within the delivery window (about 7 weeks from order to my FFL). It's absolutely amazing, and the work/craftsmanship is really high. I previously had work done by RCI on a Versamax, and Taran's gunsmithing blows it out of the water. Sometimes they're a little hard to get a hold of, but you just have to try calling during different times of the day. They're extremely helpful over the phone, and have great customer service. Buy the TTI M2 if you never want to worry whether there's something better out there. There's a reason why so many top shooters use his shotgun, including Daniel Horner for a number of years. He can theoretically use any gun, and chooses to run the TTI M2.
  7. I'd actually highly recommend getting a Gen 3 Sig MPX. Amazing difference in recoil reduction and dot movement relative to an AR9 platform, and out of the box it's ready to race. Pretty much every top PCC shooter in the Las Vegas area is now using the MPX platform.
  8. Also said this in another thread, but I've run about 10,000 rounds through my MBX Extreme PCC, and while it's pretty good for the money out of the box, the recoil and construction causes the gun to break itself apart. It's been extremely accurate, and very well balanced, but over time the gun basically has torn itself to part. I've gone through 2 buffer tubes because the castle nut has ripped through the staking and shreded the buffer tube threads, and the front handguard has also stripped the barrel nut, and won't maintain a consistent position relative to the frame. Depending on how much you shoot, it's a decent option, but for a couple hundred more, you could get the JP GMR-15 (w/ immediate shipping from Shooters Connection).

Once I shot my friend's Gen 3 MPX, I was sold. Very minimal dot movement, and the recoil is extremely soft, even with overpowered factory ammo running 150 pf. Follow-up shots and shooting on the move is much easier, and you can get away with much less technique with high accuracy. Reliability-wise, it depends on what generation you're running for the MPX. Talking to some of the top PCC shooters like Max Leograndis, Brian Nelson, and Zack Smith, the earlier Gen 1 and Gen 2 models were really hit or miss; I've got about 2000 rounds through my Gen 3, and it's been pretty outstanding. Even talked to Keith Garcia a little about it during the Safariland match, and he also swore by the MPX vs. JP GMR. Just my $0.02.
  10. Weber Tactical. Their build quality is extremely high.
  11. I bought a Remington VersaMax Competition to try saving a few dollars thinking it would be 3-gun ready out of the box. I even had it worked on by one of the top companies, and I really regret the purchase. The build quality is pretty poor, and not very accurate at all. I took off the trigger assembly to switch it with the A&S trigger guard, and the OEM was made of cheap metal with heavy burrs all over the place. I get constant light strikes, and unreliable feeding of a variety of shells. Even with the included mag extension, it still only gets you to 10 rounds, which means if you want to run in TacOps you'll end up buying another tube extension to get you to 12 rounds. The POI/POA is also really bad on mine, even with upgraded chokes from Briley. After running it in a major this past winter, I got so fed up I just ponied up for a Hayes Custom M2 that has the full package, including their new Dawson Precision sights. I always kick myself when I go against the adage "buy nice or buy twice", because it's definitely true when it comes to performance firearms.
