  1. Check to make sure the screws for the thumb rest are not too long and contacting the slide. If they’re okay, you can put a little bit of lapping compound on the rails and manually cycle it a few times to loosen up the fit a little bit.

  2. It’s not true. Just checked it and the magazine won’t latch onto the mag catch. The mag release cutout on the p226 mag is way smaller than the 320 mag catch hole.

    I have a P226 MK25 and X5.

Craig, I went down and checked that, no luck.  I loaded it up with 25 dummy and started racking it and it jammed.  As I looked closer at this round, I noticed that it shifted to one side.  Another one looked the same way.

You need to clamp/pinch the area just above the mag catch hole to the specs from my previous post:

    - For the control rib: 0.735” just above the mag catch hole

You can use one of those fuel hose pliers to do the pinching. Just be gentle so as not to crack the mag. You can also use wooden dowels on each side of the mag and a vise to clamp the mag down to size.

What if I swap out the stock parts for  CZ custom or a different company's basepad, spring, and follower setup?  Will that eliminate the need to be tuned?

You still need to tune it. I have to do it on mine after installing the CZC spring, follower and base pad.

I got the tuning info from @aandabooks:

    - For the control rib: 0.735” just above the mag catch hole

    - Feed lips: 0.365” in the rear, 0.375” in the front

Hey what ever makes you happy. Whit my arthritis, I don’t need the extra affort of things twice.
Just a side note I used to dry tumble! Have head of Brass Juice? Never going back to dry again, this stuff is great and clean. No more dust or little pieces of crap in your press. JD

Oh yeah I heard about brass juice. I don’t use it though. I made my own solution for wet tumbling which works just as good or better and a lot cheaper.

    Results are like these:

I use Dillon decap and sizing with pin filed slightly. I get less than 1% pull back primers. Also if you are running the swage station? You can feel the primer is still in the case, and remove that case at that station and continue loading. The other thing that solved all of my sizing problems ,was changing to the Lee final crimp and sizing die. And I check all in a plunk gage. The Dillon decapper with the spring assist seems to work fine for me. JD

1% pullback is one too many for me to mess round with. Besides, what a better way to kill my retirement time by reloading at a pace and the way I want 😆.

Another question. Are these things as rare right now as they seem to be? I can only find one shop with one in stock, and they happen to be less than 10 minutes from where I am right now. They are asking list for it. I called around to some shops in several states as I'm traveling quite a bit right now, but no joy.

They’re not that “rare”. Main reason there’s not a lot of them available are due to the unavailability of various components especially carbide dies. If I were you, I’d buy it right away and then sell your 650.

I ordered mine directly from Dillon a year or so ago without dies and waited about five weeks for delivery. I didn’t mind waiting because I also had a 650 and 550 at the time. Additionally, by having an account with them, Dillon also gave me a 10% military discount for buying the 1100, additional tool heads/tool head stands and other stuff.

Keep in mind also that prices went up at the beginning of the year.

Since CZ now has a Shadow 2 and Tactical Sport 2, is there a Czechmate 2 on the horizon?

If there will be one, CZ will most likely install the current Czechmate slide on the TS2 frame.

How do you like the Sport Pistol?  How much residue does it leave in the gun?  I have 8 pounds of it as backup to the N320 which is relatively clean... the FCU cleans up in the ultrasonic cleaner and requires very little extra work after that process.

    BC

I have used both Sport Pistol and N320. My Sport Pistol loads are as clean as the N320 loads. The loads are also identical; 4.0 Gr of either powder with 124 Gr Precision delta JHP at 1.120”OAL for about 130 PF out of my original X5 with the tungsten grip module.

Sport Pistol is the poor man’s version of N320.

If I am not even comfortable with the gun yet, why would i go through the pain of a class where I am expected to be able to hit all A's under 0 pressure.

You go through a class to learn so you’ll get comfortable with the gun.

However, by reading your posts, it seems to me that you’re thinking the other way around. Instead of thinking about the pain in going through a class,  think of the benefits you’ll get. You got great responses and tips on improving based on your posts but I don’t see any willingness on your part to try what’s being suggested. Give it a try. You can even ask people in your squad for tips. As long as you’re willing to try to learn new things and put in the work, I guarantee your shooting will improve. I know I did.

I'll also chime in to share that one of the things that makes it easy for me to "brag" about the Redding dies is the consistency/repeatability of the Pro Micrometer dies!  IE, if I change bullet type/size/profile, and I need to shorten/lengthen the OAL say .005", I can refer to my notes and move the seating die micrometer .005" and it will be very, very close to my desired setting!

As Mark mentioned, much easier to reach up and adjust the micrometer vs "trying" to adjust reset the 1" die nut!  IMO, they are very much worth the additional costs!

    :)

This is the same process I do. I have notes detailing the setting of the micrometer for each of the bullet weight and type I load on my 1100. Makes the reloading process simpler and life easier.

I too use an endoscope to view the powder drop.  Wondering if your primer view would show a clear pic of say, a primer that partially seated crooked and was smashed but still went through the press with no abnormal feedback in the handle, etc?

I loaded 600 9mm yesterday without any stoppages except component replenishment, and during my case gauging found a completed round that had one edge not fully seated and smashed flat against the case head.  Federal Match SPP.  😲

    Thanks!

Hogrider, yes it does. Here’s a pic:
