  1. Use and carry just one gun? What fun would that be? I'm a flavor of the day kind of guy. Smith, Glock, STI, Caspian, the list goes on. The open gun is the only one I don't carry.
  2. 5.11 all the way. What's wrong with wearing it in public? I wouldn't think anyone would think about bothering you with a bunch of gun patches on it in the mall
  3. Yeah, but it's normally when I can't get the time off work so I can blame it on something else.
  4. Figures, we finally get a nationals match when I have the time off of work, and it 2550 miles from the house
  5. One question is would clearer rules, on steel or anything else, make it easier to attract new shooters to the sport? Easier to attract new shooters? probably not. Easier to keep the shooters we have? YES!
  6. P99, don't you think the subjectivity of that system leaves too much gray area? One MD calls it one way another a different way. The MD is a trained SO, but until recently that traning varried wildly depending on who gave the training. Now at least they have a set curriculum. Although the current SO's do not have to retake the training. Way too much gray area, one MD is leniant and allows several reshoots for range equipment malfunctions, another is(for lack of a better term) a range nazi and refuses any reshoots for REM. I'm afraid that without a standardization of the rules it will drive some new shooters away and continue to fustrate those of us that see some of the short comings of the game.
  7. Gman, I'm being nice I've already emailed, called and sent some correspondence by snail mail. Now I'm just sitting back and holding my breath. Like I've said many times, I'm just trying to point out what the current rule book calls for or does not call for. Like someone said a few posts up, It'd be nice to know the rules before you show up to the match.
  8. Great ideas guys but the current rule book does not support it. The USPSA shooter should have known to complete the stage then call for the calibration just in case it did fall. that way he would not get all the FTE and misses. Come on now seriously use a trigger pull gauge for calibrating steel it's hard enough to get reliable readings on a gun with them let alone a popper. Once again we need to back things up with the rule book not our own opinions.
  9. See what happens when you skip over one little three letter word. Thanks.
  10. The way steel targets are set up will cause the senerio you give. I've seen steel knocked out of calibration by the privious shooter. Rules should not be implied, that's why we have a rule book. The timer will tell you if they shot enough rounds in the second senerio as well as the rules being more specific when it deals with paper targets. One "perfect double" in a stage maybe. Four or five No. As long as the rule is vague it will create doubt for every steel knock down target. There should be a rule change, but it's unlikely. It's easy to forget to check the calibration every couple of shooters, when it happens= reshoot, no problem.
  11. Their ruling was it's upto the MD. I'm just trying to make sure some of those MD's know that since the benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter, how it probably should be handled.
  12. . The elimination of the DOH will further muddy the waters about classifiers already submitted. Are we sure it eliminated this? I thought the new rule or change or whatever said the front strap had to be at or above the belt level. I put my SS in my DOH and the front strap was even with the bottom of the belt. Am I reading something wrong or just measuring wrong?
  13. please read the beggining post in the thread. There is no calibration spelled out in the rule book. It says that range equipment failure = a reshoot. Since there is no calibration test if you hit it and it does not fall, that's range equipment failure whether you say it must fall to score or not.
  14. Care to back it up with a rule? We are talking about steel that is hit, but does not fall. Remember we are talking IDPA rules here.
  15. What airport would be the best to fly into for this match? I've never been up that way, I try to keep to the south you know.
  16. Rich, The SJC magwell does not fit the box. Also the + 5 extensions don't fit either. Everything else is fine.
  17. I'm guessing a big no in production since its SA/DA and not DA/SA, but maybe for L-10 and I know for CDP/ESP in IDPA. I thought it was neat that they came with Slant Pro sights already and the trigger was better out of the box than the M&P I compared it to.
  18. What can anyone tell me about this gun. I just won one at a match. I've never seen or handled one until now. It surprised me how short the trigger reset was. Anyone with any experience with one?
  19. With taped glasses also Back to the question. Try it first, you might not like the feel of it. I tried puffdaddy loads in my Trojan SS in .40 and even with a spring change, I found I shot factory 165's faster and more accurate than the reloads.
  20. Well, I've been called a nobody before but never a no one. I do keep the tape on my sun glasses all the time. I'm retraining my eyes and it's a pain to take off and put back on. I enjoy the game just not the personal interpretation of the rules. Rules are rules follow them as written. If BW does not like the tape thing it will show up in a revision of the rule book just like the holsters did a few years ago. But, I don't think that will happen. If you don't like placing below some one with taped glasses either 1) tape your glasses if you think it's that big of an advantage or 2) practice. Thanks PJONES5 I get over that way sometimes, so I'll keep it in mind.
  21. +1 PJONES5, how far is your 2nd Sunday match from JAX?
  22. And that's backed in the rules where? Come on people, race holsters, speed mag holders, red dots, comps, even cleats because the rule book says no. Tape on the glasses come on now it's a game. Things like this is why the IDPA rule book could still use some work. I like their game also, I would just like a more uniform application of the rules. We all know how to play monopoly, it's the family variations that kill us when we visit others. Keep the rules that are written applied the same everywhere and take the opinions out of it.
  23. This one will head down the same path, but show me the rule on this. No way in the world your gonna argue that scotch tape is a competetion only modification.
  24. Well then all glasses other than those with a perscription should be against the rules. they are only used in competition. Still a totaly BS call from the SO. Show me where the scotch tape company markets the stuff for race or competition use.
  25. One year ago exactly this was a huge issue at my first sanctioned IDPA match. The arguements it caused were mainly due to people not knowing what the rule book said. I just shot this years match and it happened to at least one shooter on my squad and I was able to get him a reshoot with no fuss this time. I'm just wanting to point out the way the IDPA rulebook reads and not our personal thoughts etc. As long as there is no calibration set up in the rules like another sport has and the statement that the bennifit of the doubt goes to the shooter it should = a reshoot every time dispite what our personal fellings maybe.
