True, but how many rounds does the average shooting involve? Way less than a magazine full is my guess.

10 round states could not shoot that division. If IDPA is suppose to test some real life skills, why would using a standard capacity mag make problems. I think being programed to reload after 10 rounds is a bad thing when I carry a 17+ round gun.

Someone once told me the subconsious mind does not know who you are talking to. So if an SO tells me about putting 3 on that target guess what is likely to happen. You guessed it, three on that target. I don't always need a good sight picture or even a sight picture at all on close 5yard targets. When that happens I second guess myself about the hits and will sometimes throw a third shot for insurance. If that puts me at slide lock oh well. Life is vickers count so should stages unless you are testing standards.

Well, if you don't make a limit then you rule out some calibers. Kind of like IPSC production has become a 9mm game.

I would like to see IDPA add a 15+1 round division. It would be nice to be able to run a standard capacity mag fully loaded(like I carry it) in a match. How many people would be interested in shooting it? Hell it could even be a 17+1 division as both 9mm and .40 can get there and still fit in the box. 15 would let 45 play also. Let that division follow the ESP rules as it would be open for SA or DA you choose. Just a thought.

Greg, I agree with you. The only way to eliminate it is to make everything limited vickers Since you can't do that eliminate penalties for thinking that's what was going on.

It is all about inertia. Weaker recoil spring comnbined with a polished slide stop and slap a mag home to give the force. We are talking about a game where tenths of a second can make a difference with points being the same. If I can get back on target and back to the shooting faster why not?

OK my glocks, smith&wessons even my CZ's all let the slide go forward from slide lock on a fresh mag. Can I make my STI Eagle do the same? Think limited 10 with short mags and a small magwell. I'm not worried about over insertion. I just want the slide to go forward when I seat a new mag without having to use the slide lock.

Yep, I've thought about the reverse of the idea here. Seems like a good idea, but be prepared for the results after that. While I was a C class limited shooter I was able to watch a local GM game a couple classifiers in a row. I shot it just like him and was rewarded with a bump upto B class when I had no business there. Save the gaming for other parts of the match.
