  1. Check you case lengths too. They may vary enough to make the cannelure not match up with the case mouth on every case.

  3. As per Doug Carden's request, here's what we have so far. There are others that aren't listed yet, such as Hinton, WV which usually shoots on the 2nd Sunday from Mar-Oct and the Hutchinson, KS matches mentioned above for which I don't have the contact info. 4. It's a shorter run for those of us in the East Coast area to go to Michigan on the way to Bianchi than go 2 hours past Columbia and back. It may seem like a small point, but that's 4 hours of extra travel that we don't necessarily want to do. Michigan is also a 2-day match, State & Regional matches in the same weekend, so more shooting for the location/time frame. I may have bad info, but last time I heard, the only AP matches that Michigan runs are those 2 days in May. Alan~^~
  5. When I was in a defensive driving class many years ago one question on the final was "What does a blinking signal light on a vehicle mean?" Correct answer? IT WORKS!
  6. Reloads? Could be high primers if it's reloaded ammo and not the gun.
  7. Thanks Alan, I'm assuming that Expansion Industries is the mfg. Not listed on Powder Valley. Can you only get it from Expansion Industries? Looks like 4 lbs is the biggest jug. I'll have to find somebody else that wants some to try out to split the hazmat fee....generally order from Powder Valley and have a few friends go in with various things. So far as I know, they only sell direct to the consumer. He imports it from Spain in ~50# barrels, puts it into the 1# & 4# jugs and sells it that way. It's local for us, so I haven't check on shipping, hazmat, etc. That should be on that web site I quoted above.
  8. Here ya' go............. http://expansion-industries.com/reloading/powder/pistol-powder.html?limit=all That'll connect you to their web site. Powder works great...............their ammo? Not so much. They supplied all the .223 ammo recently for a LE Charity 3-gun match at our range and had so many misfires and complaints from the shooters that they packed up & left early. Powder (ETR7) loads to the same chart as TiteGroup.
  9. This may not be as large as you want, but it beats the hell out of $178.00! http://www.cedhk.com/shop/products/CED-Brass-Mat.html
  10. The "powder die" contains the powder funnel for whichever caliber you're loading. A caliber conversion contains powder funnel, shell plate & locator buttons that are caliber-specific. You can change calibers and still use the same "powder die" but it's easier to get a separate tool head for each caliber, leaving the dies set on each.
  11. Sometimes, comprehension depends upon the amount of "adult beverages" consumed, along with age. Add the two and it goes off the chart! Thanks for typing slow for me!
  12. Only enough to remove the flare you created at the powder drop. There is no "crimp" as such, only straightening the case to its original shape.
  13. As long as late in the games they don't turn it into a "talk-show" between the announcers, each one trying to outdo the other in how many trivia items they can come up with! They just ignore the game on the field and all the talk centers around the guys in the booth!
  14. Are you loading for competition, plinking, or what? It matters what your final result needs are........velocity, accuracy, etc.
  15. The latest issue of The Blue Press lists the total cost of a 1050, with options, set up for .45 ACP, as $1130.55. And that does NOT include a bullet feeder. Hi-Power, You must get a different issue from the one I receive (or you meant 650 instead of 1050). The January 2016 that I have on hand lists the 1050 for $1,749.95 in .45ACP.
  16. I read it wrong then! If he'd posted it as "9000/bullet speed" maybe this ole country boy would have understood it. That bullet speed being on the next line down had me befuddled.............where I spend more & more time lately it seems! I like your formula better than mine............simpler!
  17. If that "9000" is "bullet speed" can I watch you shoot that thing? Preferably from behind a far away tree!
  18. It's easiest if you have access to a Ransom Rest, and it can be set without firing a shot, but both systems above will work fine. Once it's set for any distance for the ammo velocity you use, it works for all distances. Here's a chart that will help: Lead Factor for Moving Target Formula: D / V x 120 = L D = Distance to target in feet V = Velocity of bullet in feet-per-second (fps) 120 = Assumed target speed of 10 fps L = Lead factor in inches Distance to center from edge of X- ring = 2" 10-ring = 4" 8 - ring = 6" target = 9" 800 fps 10 yds - 4.5" 850 fps 10 yds - 4.24" 15 yds - 6.75" 15 yds - 6.35" 45 min. 20 yds - 9.0" 42.5 min. 20 yds - 8.47" 25 yds - 11.25" 25 yds - 10.59" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 900 fps 10 yds - 4.0" 950 fps 10 yds - 3.79" 15 yds - 6.0" 15 yds - 5.68" 40 min. 20 yds - 8.0" 37.9 min. 20 yds - 7.58" 25 yds - 10.0" 25 yds - 9.47" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1000 fps 10 yds - 3.6" 1050 fps 10 yds - 3.43" 15 yds - 5.4" 15 yds - 5.14" 36 min. 20 yds - 7.2" 34.3 min. 20 yds - 6.86" 25 yds - 9.0" 25 yds - 8.57" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1100 fps 10 yds - 3.27" 1150 fps 10 yds - 3.13" 15 yds - 4.91" 15 yds - 4.7" 32.7 min. 20 yds - 6.55" 31.3 min. 20 yds - 6.26" 25 yds - 8.18" 25 yds - 7.83" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1200 fps 10 yds - 3.0" 1250 fps 10 yds - 2.88" 15 yds - 4.5" 15 yds - 4.32" 30 min. 20 yds - 6.0" 28.8 min. 20 yds - 5.76" 25 yds - 7.5" 25 yds - 7.2" The MOA doesn't change enough over the distances we shoot to matter. Velocity loss at 25 yds should be negligible if not non-existent. You'll notice that at velocities below 1000 FPS, your 25-yard aiming point is off the target @ 25 yds for setup.
  19. AGREED! It needs to STAY on the gun! That's not something that you take off & on for cleaning or ANY other reason. Although you can do much polishing of it while it's still mounted. You can remove the "wings" to make polishing it easier, but leave it mounted to the frame.
  20. Last time I looked, it was NOT a "Little Extra" - it's a LOT MORE for a 650 than a 550 ... 550 is $440 and 650 $566 according to dillon. Add a case feeder.........for the 650 it adds $220, for the 550 add $265. I don't think I'd want a 650 without that, but the 550 seems to do pretty well without one, since you can't load most rifle stuff on a 550 with one attached. Different animals........
  21. A larger setup might be this........ http://shop.dominionhobby.com/p/grips That one is really fat!
  22. That racker has to be removed in order to take off the slide for cleaning. It's the exact setup I have, and like Hi-Power Jack said, it's a one-screw removal......Simple. I don't use Lok-Tite on mine, so I have to be aware during a match to check it periodically to be sure it's still tight. It won't hurt anything if it comes off, but it's a pain to look for that one in gravel that's the same color!
  23. I agree with you 100% on the Engineer/Science mind-set! I think you really blew him away with the velocity you listed. Was that in your 357 SIG? Sounds about right for that.
  24. A bullet can just drop into a case at the seating station? Another valuable datum. Chem, you gotta quit talking like your'e still in school and get on like a shooter does. First you datum then you marry-m..... SOP means (S)tarfire (Op)tical Range. So instead of saying that, you say "Stuff to know about reloading" Starfire is like LegoLand, only with lasers... for shooting down ICBM's Don't rag on him too hard. At least he didn't start the post with "What's up peeps?" as did another newbie on here.
