  1. I didn't know I could do that. Will I lose any accuracy?
  2. I apologize. I should have been more specific. It is an older 2011 Trubor chambered in 38 super comp.
  3. I have a backup 2011 Trubor chambered in 38 supercomp that I’ve been tempted to rebarrel to 9 major. I know labor cost may vary depending on the particular gunsmith, but what should I expect to be a ballpark figure for labor to have my gun rebarreled? Also if there are any recommended smiths to perform this job I’d appreciate the advice.
  4. I didn't graduate to open as much as I kicked down the wall like kool-aid man. Like you I am cross eye dominant and started in production. I started uspsa in June last season and had a great time with it. I bought a shadow 2, learned the fundamentals, met local people, and traveled to local ranges. My shooting improved so much last year and I had a great time, but it left me wanting a little more out of the sport for this season. So I ended up buying a used 2011 open gun in December. I paid it off and I spent the winter off season learning to dry fire it and reloading 9 major ammo. We had our first match last weekend and it was a classifier match. Dry fire over the off season paid off and it looks like I'm starting in B class. I'm having a great time with it so far. I still love production but this is more exciting to me because it is faster paced. So to answer some your questions: 1. I started USPSA in June and shot irons for the '17 season. 2. I don't know that it is important to shoot irons first, but it is important to know the fundamental of competition shooting first. If you have the fundamentals down, then probably not necessary to focus on irons so much first. The transition from irons to dot took me about two weeks of moderate dry fire practice. I'm still working on this but I have improved quite a bit since the beginning. 3. After my own experience I absolutely believe it is easier for a cross dominant shooter. My experience may be unique but I'd encourage you to try it. I found that despite being cross dominant, with a red dot I don't have any focusing issues. In fact, I do not shoot a dot gun as cross-dominant. I am right handed and I can index with my right eye while using my open gun. This is not what I expected, but this is what my mind feels comfortable with. What I have also found is that I can also shoot a dot gun as cross dominant, too. This has come in handy for weak handed shooting. I don't know yet if it is a competitive advantage, but it can't hurt. 4. I don't find the recoil to be that bad honestly. 38 super is fairly soft shooting, but 9 major doesn't feel a whole lot different to me. It feels a lot easier to shoot than a 40 cal, that's for sure - to me at least. I think you'd enjoy it. I'd find someone that will let you borrow their gun and shoot a few rounds through it.
  5. I just want to go fast. Hence open division.
  6. Here’s one I just started using. I’m going to add another .3 grain to give a cushion for pf. 4 popple holes in my gun. AA7 1.145” OAL 10 gr 115 HAP 1436 FPS 165 pf
  7. That advice is on point. Thanks for posting that.
  8. Just thought I'd update this thread. I finally had a chance to chrono several loads I've been working with: Full length STI 38 sc, T2 comp, no popple holes. Results are based on an average of 5 shot strings. CFE 7.1 gr 125 HAP JHP 1479 FPS OAL 1.235 PF = 184.88 (Too hot!!) CFE 8.1 gr 115 Hornady XTP 1418 FPS OAL 1.235" PF = 163.07 (Too cold!!) AC 7.3 gr 124 MG JHP 1377 FPS OAL 1.235 PF = 171 (Just right!) AA7 10.0 gr 115 Hornady XTP OAL 1.235 1381 FPS PF = 158.81 IMR 4756 7.5 gr 124 PD JHP OAL 1.235 1295 FPS PF = 160.58
  9. Cool. What type of gun did you have built?
  10. Anyone here with a build from Lone star innovations? I am considering having Glenn build me a 9 major for open. I’m looking for your reviews or impressions on these builds from LSI.
  11. Thank you. So I guess that would have been useful when major pf was higher.
  12. I’ve located a used open gun that interests me, but it has a 5 port hybrid barrel with a comp. After researching forums I haven’t seen that type of barrel duplicated on any builds that I’ve found. Is 5 ports too much for 38 sc? Any idea what type of load that would require to run?
  13. I’m looking at one of his open guns as well. Could you tell me more about the ones he built for you? A PM is fine. Thanks!

    New shadow 2

That’s kind of why I was curious of the prospect of a better front sight since I haven’t had any problem with the stock front sight.

    New shadow 2

What size front sight do you recommend? I’ve been using stock.
  16. https://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=92492.0 Guys: This is what spurred my idea as to the spare slide for a shadow 2. This guy was able to make weight, even though just barely.
  17. Is it currently possible to purchase a spare slide for a Shadow 2? My online searching hasn't yielded any results. I'd like to get a spare slide milled for CO this next year.
  18. Eric - that comp tac may be the winner. States that it can be canted 270 degrees.
  19. Can the scorpion storm carriers be used for a mpx mag though? It doesn’t look like it would work.
  20. What about the safariland magazine holder? Anyone one this? https://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?id=SFR774-211&n=Safariland-774-M
  21. Sir, you’ve piqued my interest. Haha. Would you mind sharing a photo of such?
