  1. I shoot almost the same load of 4.9 N-320 Zero 180 JHP 1.170 OAL in a stock Eagle 5" bushing barrel . At last check I am getting a 170 PF at 72* , so this helps me know the chrono is not to far off!
  2. Is EGW the only one making a "official gauge" ?
  3. Thanks for the imput! I ordered the .160 and it should be here this week! I will post my findings
  4. I can do about 300 an hour but I don't push it and I look at the powder in each case before I set a bullet in place.
  5. Thanks for the info ! this is how you "just load ten rounds and measure it" I thought if I could see the rounds to measure I wouldn't need the holes
  6. Thanks, I did call Dawson and was told that the .160 will work and that I will still have some room to adjust.
  7. I have a new STI Eagle 5" bushing barrel in .40 . I want to put a Dawson FO front sight on but I am not sure on the height? The stock sight is .170 and I had to adjust the rear sight up a little about 4 clicks to hit my point of aim. The Dawson FO comes in .180 and .160 tall and I was not sure if .160 would be to short? I think I may have just answer my own question I think I will file down the stock sight to .160 and see if I have enough rear sight adjustment Oh well, I take so long typing with two fingers that I am going to post this anyway
  8. I see red , blue and green recommened how do you decide whats best for a particular application?

  11. I am wanting to do some 126mm STI mags for IDPA do you have "approximate" start dimensions ? Thanks Donald
  12. Alan, If you do not return the Blade Tech for a Eagle 5" short dust cover I will be watching for your "for sale" post ! Was that for a bull barrel or bushing barrel 5" Eagle? Donald
  13. I want to Thank everyone for the replies there are a lot of good comments and suggestions although I'm not sure about the "nickel-plated sissy pistol" one... I think I have become very comfortable with the familiarity of my Glocks and I will have to commit to putting the time and effort in to "learning" a new shooting platform. I am going to clean my compition Glocks and put them away for awhile so I can spend the time it takes to become comfortable with the STI . I will try to post now and then on my progress.
  14. I just got a new STI Eagle 40 and it has the best fit and finish of any of my handguns ! It's smooth , the trigger is very good it's just a great gun! I am very fortunate to be able to have one and I can't say anything bad about it, BUT! I really like my Glocks ! and I know its not good to switch back and forth but to me the Glock just feels right! I must be having Glock withdrawals I know my 1911 friends think I need help
  15. I shot 100 rounds of 180gr factory ammo today Rem & WWB , I used 7 new mags and had 3 FTF that only required a light bump on the back of the slide. I don't think that is to bad for the first time out. Time to work up a new load I am going to try to post some pics... Might try AOL's between 1.180 and 1.20 most 40 S&W 2011's will feed that length. Nice looking blaster and that is a really nice looking display platform. I recently bought a 2011 after shooting Glocks for sometime. I still like Glocks for carry and production but man that 2011 is a fine shooting platform. Thanks! the stand is homemade, I want to get some N-320 and work on a load for limited major pf using zero 180gr JHP it seems ot be a popular powder for the 40S&W.

  19. Thanks, I will get pics as soon as I get it home. I have been shooting Glocks for a while and like them (all six) but I have a good friend who is a BIG 1911 fan and has been trying to convert me for a long time so I am going to give it a try. Remember..... that little lever thing on the side is a thumb safety..... not found on a Glock. It took me awhile to remember to use it when gripping the gun. I suppose you will be shooting limited? Jerry when trying to use a 1911, I would forget the thumb safety or not fully depress the grip safety then have to figure out which one it was while the clock keeps running Glocks do have there good points
