Got the gun and shot club match the same day ! Feels and shoots pretty good. Got pretty good results.

After inspection of the gun next day found a few thing that previous owner was aware of but did not tell me :)

Small chip on the slide and small chip on the barrel.... Does not look like cracks... But makes me little nervous.

That looks fine to me but ask Johnny if you really feel the need. I would just keep shooting it!

I'm curious on the bullet weights used. I have mostly shot 45s. For 9mm minor it seemed that a lot of shooters liked the softer feel of 147gr bullets. Shooting LO now and I've been using 135gr coated bullets. Thought they were a compromise without going all the way to the 147s. Have they waned in popularity? It seems I see a lot more shooters using the lighter bullets these days.

I started shooting IDPA years ago and everybody wanted heavy bullets and I always thought they felt good but wondered why the slide was slower to return. I think the majority of people shoot 124 or in that range now. 124 is a really nice all around feel and speed.

No idea how long they last with minor ammo.  The ones I've experienced had not been very durable for major Open, but those guns break a lot of things that don't otherwise normally.

I messed with 115's in CO last year and they did ok, but I ended up back at 125s.  115's with heavy brass grips was interesting if you don't mind the weight (yeah, even centered in your hand there's a difference).

I’m not in a position to get a LO gun yet but am getting ready. Still have a lot of loaded 124g ammo.

The draw of a slight block gun is the smaller and lighter slide. I would imagine it would be nice.

    I've tried everything from a 9mm Edge, 5" and 4.25" Prodigy/Clones to a 5" bushing-barrel Eagle with and without metal grips.

Fastest cycle time will probably be a 5" bushing barrel and light slide or a 4.25".

The heavy guns shoot plush but don't transition as cleanly.

Thanks! Also, what’s your opinion on steel vs aluminum or plastic grips? I’ve always used steel for open.

  6. you’ll be hard-pressed to find better people than the Lim family. I would just be a little persistent in reaching out to them and they can talk to you about this specific gun and what they have done to it during service and things.

Have not tried the 507 Comp but I did recently get a FTP Alpha 3 and I’m really liking it so far. I’m a big fan of the Alpha 3’s reticle size options and brightness settings. Listed battery life isn’t close to the Holosun’s but they appear to have similar  glass size & shape and cost about the same

I’m using both the FTP and the 507 comp. So far so good.

I run them on my open shotguns and offset on my rifles. They can take a beating and hold up way better than some others I've had.

    Nice!

  9. My buddy came over yesterday and I got to see and hold his TS2. First time seeing the new version. Pretty fantastic! He is getting Scott to cut it for LO. It will be a beast. Fit and finish was great the checkering was very good. I liked it and am sure it will be a very good LO host.

Long term follow up -- a Steelmaster was recently added to the collection, so here is a comparison photo. Note shorter comp and 4.15" lightened slide in comparison to the Competitor, as well as blast deflector on the C-More mount (definitely needs it), and fly cut serrations the the later STIs came with (I have a soft spot for the looks of that design).

These look great. Love those cuts. The Apeiro has them too.

Hahaha...was wondering the same thing.  I initially thought it would come in at a lower price point than the Checkmate but sounds like you think this will be their higher priced offering?

Also, this would have to feature a SA trigger right? Isn't the standard A01 a DA/SA?

    Either way, absolutely beautiful gun.

Yes SA for sure for the open gun. The pic I posted is SA.
