  1. From the uspsa.org home page, you can go to Club Support -> Classifier Corrections

    (or click here).

Fill out the brief form and his record will reflect the classifier at the next update.

no real need to re-upload the scores.

edit: just noticed the bit about not having sent in the classifier report yet. I would just update in the software and submit the report. still see no need to re-upload the scores.

  2. coat and glove absolutely not needed, but may help depending on your experience level. or may hinder depending on your experience level. I got "the patch" by a wide margin on the first test w/ a std 20" AR (irons, and std mil non-floating handguards, etc). Only "special" gear I had was a good leather (Turner) sling and a mat. GI web sling is just as good. Oh, I did have a 2-stage in the AR, so I did "cheat" a bit there. You could go decked out ready for a high-power match, but that's not really the intent.

  3. I'm new to glocks and recently wanted to try a different recoil spring. I just locked the slide back on my fully assembled pistol, used plyers to pull the end of the guide rod. I then dissassembled and swaped springs. Reassembled and again locked the slide back, and pushed the end back into the rod. Took less time to do than do type... No vices, no special tools, etc.

  4. Impromptu trip to the range today to test out my new sights. Last night I installed the Sevigny competition sights (.245 front w. fiber).

Learned that w. 115s, the POI is about 2" low. Got scared I was going to have to swap for a different FS, but then I tried my 147s and they hit just about perfect. Never really seen that kind of variation before. I dont know if its the lack of up-front weight or what, but the difference was consistent.

Best groups were in the 1.5" range (10yds, standing/unsupported). Would like to have seen a little better, but I know I've got some work to do to really figure out this glock trigger. but I really like the sight picture with these new sights. Going to get a set w tritium for the 19.

    Also ran some timing drills.

I noticed a big difference with the 13 lb recoil spring this time compared to the stock spring last time. The sight lifted less and most importantly settled faster.

Also, I had been working on extending more, because that's where I seem to get the best trigger control, but in the timing drills I noticed the sight lifted to the right maybe 15 degrees. Extending a little less, to where I'm used to, the light tracked perfectly up and down.

The grip goo seems to be working for now. I'm going to hold off stippling.

  5. Hey brother when we going to see you next? You going to shoot Ft. Wayne this month??

Probably not this month. Thought maybe Warsaw tomorrow, but we have a church function.

  6. While you were swapping parts during troubleshooting, did you try a different extractor in your slide?

    yes. no help.

The gun is back at glock for the 3rd time. I've demanded a new gun. We'll see.

I got a new G34 from Glock. So far I've put 4-500 rounds through it and it seems to be running well. I'm cautiously optimistic since the last gun seemed to run ok for the first few hundred rounds as well. I did have two ejection failures with the new gun, but they were with some VERY light 115s (that I once loaded to 'feel like' my 147s). So I'm not totally blaming the gun for those.

I shot a local match w/ the new gun this past Sunday and it ran 100% (as it came out of the box except for a 13 lb recoil spring and a non-extended factory slide stop). I'm confident enough that I already ordered some new sights.

  7. Shot a thursday night at FWAPS this past week. Just a couple folks there (due to threat of rain, I s'pose).

My speed on steel is suffering. Hoping new sights will improve that. trigger control is another factor.

Shot a 5.2 El Prez. Not sure exactly on points now that it's been a few days.... I think 8A, 4Cs (we were counting holes, not pasting). Pretty happy w/ that.

Shot a 2.24 Bill drill, all As, w/ a massive trigger freeze on the last shot (splits were ~.15, then a .35-40 iirc on the last shot).

Not bad for cold runs on a new gun.

Previous week just testing the gun out I met w/ Dave R. He let me try some of the grip goo stuff. Going to experiment w/ that a bit before stippling the 34.

  8. Who are you conceding first place to?

Someone who has been more dedicated than I to training....

I thought my goals were lofty enough! Last yr I was 2nd M, and something like 73% of the match winner. So I figure this year, by applying almost no effort, I should be able to improve on that! :roflol: I'll save winning the whole match for 2013.

  9. Shot/Worked Angola this weekend. Came in 1st in Prod (barely!, just by ~5%), and 3rd overall. 45 shooters! Thanks to all who came out!

Only shot ~87% of the points. Two misses (One miss was a head shot that went a little low into hardcover over the C-zone. The other miss was from shooting too close to a barrel that was hiding a target, and I think I snagged the barrel and it deflected my round).

Classifier was 09-09, Lightning and Thunder, a fixed-time std. Shot 10A, 6C, 2D. That was a waste because that's a classifier I should easily be able to shoot my class or above on. Goes back to my trigger control comment in my previous post... I have some work to do.

Two big stages, mine and Terry's... I was very happy w/ my plan and execution. I felt very smooth. I took my time to burn in my plan, which is something I don't often do well at Angola do to the rush of building/tear-down. Terry had a whole bunch of stuff activated on a stomp pad. I timed everything out VERY well, except I wanted to hit the pad a 1/2 second later than I did (while engaging other statics) and that cause me to have to wait for a swinger to re-appear for my second shot on it, but it was still one of the better times regardless.

Had one make-up on a TX star, and one makeup on a mini popper array.

    Forgot the vid camera.....

  10. Wow,

It has been a long time since I posted here. Shows how inactive I have been.

I received a new G34 from Glock (old gun took 3 trips to GA before they resolved it for me). The new one seems to be running well so far (but I'm a bit hesitant since the old one started having problems AFTER 500 rounds or so). New one has had a couple of malfunctions, but all w/ some VERY light 115 loads, so I'm not completely blaming the gun on those.

I shot the new one in a local match this weekend, and it ran 100 %. It was 100% stock, except I put in a non-extended slide stop and a 13lb recoil spring. I have a set of Warren/Sevigny sights on the way w/ fiber up front.

After MONTHS of dealing with gun issues, my motivation was in the toilet. But now I'm getting a fire lit back under me. Since getting the gun back, I have signed up for the IN State match, and started some dryfire.

I'm feeling motiviated again, which feels great.

I have a lot of learning to do with this new platform (and a lot of catching up and re-learning to do after months of no training). Specifically trigger control and timing. Trigger placement on my finger is considerably different than the 92 since the reach is longer. When I do my part, the gun is wonderfully accurate. I just need to be able to do my part more consistently. The local match this weekend was the lowest % of points I have shot in a long time (87%-ish).

It's 10 weeks to IN State. Goals: 1st Place Master Class. 85% of match winner. 93% of match points shot.

  12. Last week I was able to test fire the G34. Recall that I recently got it back from glock after sending it in for the second time.

The gun in 100% stock. It's exactly how it was returned to me from the factory, except I added a couple drops of lube. I even used the replacement mag that glock sent back.

I fired exactly ONE round. It failed to eject, preventing me from firing a second. I cleared it and bagged it. I didn't see any point in continuing to shoot it.

    I can't tell you how PO'd I am. I won't be satisfied now unless I get a new gun.

I put approximately 200 rounds through my G19 at the same outing without a single problem.

  13. For shits and grins give us some measurements of the ejector position and a video impression of how tight the extractor is. If the extractor is under sprung it can cause ejection issues. The original photo looks pretty nasty with carbon build up, I would suggest tearing it apart if you know what your doing and physically checking each component for hangups. If the plunger channel for the extractor has a shit load of carbon buildup that will hamper ejection in glocks also. Couldn't see much from the video. What area are you in? Maybe we could meet up and I could help you out. Even high speed analysis of the issue if your available.

On a side note, I have yet to have a glock with a solid/ predictable ejection pattern like my 1911's. Brass goes 1 O'Clock to 5 O Clock. Where most of my weapons (ar, bolt rifles etc all go in a 5 gal bucket)

    Cheers,

    Patrick

Not too nasty w/ carbon build up. To this day the gun has <1k rounds through it. It appears glock is doing a sonic clean when they are doing their "repairs." Extractor is plenty tight. ejector measured in line w/ a known good gun. measurements back in post #7 (though I goofed and typod in extrator instead of ejector). But it doesn't matter. it's the slide that jacked. See post 13.

  14. Keep us posted on your outcome with the plastic. How is it doing?

Came home a couple nights ago and was surprised to find a box from Glock.

I see no sign of anything done to the gun.

I see no improvement in ejecting cases by hand.

I have no confidence it will run.

It will probably be a couple weeks before I can give it a workout...

    Only note:

    INSPECTED

    UPGRADE

    TEST FIRED

    MEETS FACTORY SPECS

    My translation:

    Looked at it, wrinkled eyebrows

    Put in new slide stop

Shot a couple rounds through it

    Didn't jam

At least they put a new non-extended slide stop in. And this time it came back with a different mag.

After dryfiring it, I think they may have put a new trigger/ejector group on, as the trigger safety used to catch some times. But as I really don't think the ejector was the problem I don't expect it to run.

  15. With a 13# spring, that thing should be ejecting like a beast. I run lighter ammo than you (127-128PF) and have the same exact spring in mine. The main difference between your gun and mine is that I'm running a full-length tungsten guide rod in mine.

I would like to see what kind of tension is being exerted by the extractor onto the case rim. If it's too gentle, the extracting round can slip off of it too early and not really be "kicked" by the ejector. This is common in 1911s, but can happen in a Glock also. If you slip a case under the extractor, it should be relatively tight and require about 26-28 ounces of pressure to slip it back out.

I had put a 147gr dummy round (no primer/powder) under the extractor w/ the slide off and barrel removed. I could lightly shake the slide and it wouldn't move. don't know force exerted in oz, but it seemed to hold as well as a known good G17 slide.

  16. Have you tried a new guide rod with weaker springs? Just thinking of other things that could increase the amount of energy/speed of the slide going backwards. You can get a kit of wolfe springs and experiment. Hope Glock can true up the slide for you.

same guide rod, but a 13lb ismi spring made no difference.

  17. That must have been pretty frustrating. Kudos to you for persevering. The upside is that you are getting really fast with malfunction drills. (I've been there. I used to have a balky Beretta that really honed my tap-rack-bang skills.)

Do you also get the same dribble effect shooting one handed weak hand?

One or two handed, different shooters, doesn't matter. Problem went away when we swapped slides.
