  1. Is that a picture with the slide locked back? I'm assuming that the shiny surface at the bottom of the picture is the rear wall of the magwell. (Amazing job polishing that by the way!)

On my G-34, if the slide is locked back, the firing pin block is not visible and the breach face is practically inline with the rear wall of the magwell. When I tried to simulate the slide position to match your photo, my ejector is maybe about the thickness of the rim longer.

I think that the current length you have should be sufficiently long enough to eject the rounds, assuming that your slide will go back further.

If your slide won't go back further with the ISMI spring installed, I'd try putting the factory spring to see if the slide goes back further. If the slide does go back further with the factory spring, then when you put the ISMI spring back in, you may have to trim a few coils from the spring because it is reaching full compression and "bottoming out".

No, slide is not locked back, just brought back to the point the case touched the extractor (I was wondering it it was bent in too far, hitting the case too low). I didn't polish the mag well, it's how it came. 100% stock except for recoil spring and non-extended slide release.

Extractor measures 0.593, Give or take a thou. With slide locked back it appears to leave approx 0.280 sticking out, hard to measure, give or take a tenth.

Tip of the ejector looks a little rough, but not necessarily chipped/broken.

I had one of the jams w the factory spring.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  2. Hello,

Just before Christmas I picked up a new gen 3 34. I've had two practice sessions with it. The first was about 400 rounds, the second, today, was about 350. I've had I think 3 ejection problems in that time.

First, the gun has no ejection pattern. Brass lands all over the place, sometimes it seems to go straight up, or barely come out. It appears to be extracting ok, but when it's jammed the empty hasn't cleared the ejection port. Once it stove piped, the other times the brass was jammed horizontally top-center of the port above the next round in line.

I tried digging through the forum here. I saw a bunch of threads about gen 4s, and even something about a new ejector from glock? Would that apply to the gen 3?

If I eject a live/dummy round (eg the "flip" one might do at ULSC), the round barely clears the ejection port, no matter how quickly I rack the slide. It never has any hang time, which makes me think empty cases can't be ejecting any better.

The extraction appears ok, and the cases all get out of the chamber (when it's jammed, each time a new round has been heading into the chamber). And I can put a live round under the extractor and it will stay in place under extractor tension only.

The number on the ejector is 336.

1st outing was 100% stock. This second outing was a slide stop from a G17, a 13lb is ISMI recoil spring (on a factory guide rod w the capturing end piece removed).

Ammo was reloads, mixed brass, and a combination of 115 and 147 gr zeros. I've run well over 100k of these through my berettas so I'm confident in the load. These usually chrono at about 134pf.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  3. oh it's always a good day at the range... just a couple of hickups w/ the new pistol......

no rush today, so i took my time, did some practice, and some play. messed around w/ the camera some, and caught an awesome muzzle flash in the comp...

  4. I've always wondered about making a "sleeve" to put around a comp that maybe just locks in place with a set screw for these types of situations.... Anyone try anything like that? (or could that start to be considered a silencer??)

    Edit: hey, look.... 1000th post!

  5. Just wondering if I were to take my AR to say an Appleseed shoot, am I jerk for using a Comp all day?

I think that might be a yes.

    agree.

There's lot of folks shooting .22s at those events, and a lot of new (and young and female) folks who may not think the smack in the face is fun. When I went, I built a new top end (had an old un-threaded hbar, bcg, and GI furniture lying around... just had to buy a receiver).

  6. I had the same issue with the grip tape. Got rid of it learned how to stipple. Now I have 2 types of stipple that I do and they both work great. I have done a half dozen for other shooters if your interested. Takes me about a day.

Thanks, Dan. I'll probably tackle it myself. I did my open gun and that turned out well. (This time I'll probably go a little finer texture.)

I was thinking about buying a spare mag for experimenting with a couple of different tips on. You know if that's the same type of plastic?

  7. That was a short-lived experiment... Ten draws in and the grip tpe is off...

    -rvb

How did you develop a proper hatred of something that fast?

No, it came off on its own after 10 draws.

(The hatred of grip tape took plenty of time to develop, because it never sticks for me. When I've used it in the past, I've epoxied it down.) I tried this specific brand because it supposedly stuck so much better. I spent an hour putting it on, following the directions, cleaning w/ rubbing alcohol and tooth brush, etc, and no luck (and the rubbing alcohol didn't do any wonders for my breath, either).

So I'm going to have to stipple.

I thought I'd give tape another try since I wanted to make sure I'm set on the glock before I do something more permanent.

This gun needs something though. Way to slippery. Cant control the gun if you cant hold on to it....

Anyone want 2 sets of trugrip for a G17/34/etc? I'll deliver to a match...

  8. work is cramping my style.... shut the computer down around midnight last night and decided I was too whooped to get the gun out....

Fingers crossed I can get out to the range Friday...

  9. This is why I've drastically scaled back my shooting the last couple years. Two new mouths two feed, wife not working and staying home w/ the kids, and some home remodelling projects.... hotels/gas/bullets/entry fees had to get cut back. I looked at the numbers and couldn't justify it right now. Hopefully back full steam in a couple years....

  10. Last night I turned my par down a tenth on the basic drills. Only ones I struggled with we're the burketts and the 2x2.... I let the tension creep in on those. The Trugrip came in, so I got that installed after my practice. Tonight will be the first practice w the tape on.

Work has really been cramping my style... So I've only been getting practice in about every other night.

  11. I do not think on-line would be appropriate. I do a decent amount of on-line training/recerts with work, and you do not get as much from them. on line doesn't give you the opportunity to ask questions, and get clarification on interpretation. I finally get to go through an ro class next weekend; i'm really looking forward to it. it took me a couple years to get it to work out. find out if the classes you are interested in have a waiting list. get your app to them incase a spot opens up.

and you can still work level 1s as RO w/o the cert, and can still work majors as scorekeeper etc. Most people assume I'm cert cause i about always have a timer in my hand.

  12. I was interested in this scope, but felt there was no real center aiming point and the crosshairs too small at 1x. I was afraid there would be too much searching for the aiming point on close to 100 yd highspeed shooting (all going off reticle pictures, never saw one in person). I think I would have gotten one if they would have cut out the center of the crosshair and put in a 1-2 moa dot. I also think the circle is way too thick, it could be half what it is now...

1-6 is promissing. but they would definitely need to make the circle thinner. I was all set to drop the $ on a TR24, but now I see promissing new stuff after the shot show... the 1-6 Luep, the FFP Vortex, and the 1-6 ffp bushnell could be options, too, at about the same price point...

  13. I almost feel that we should go into some of these stores and ask the dumbest questions we can think of just to see what the answers will be.

I think it would make a good benoverse contest. We come up w/ a great question here, and everyone goes to their local shops and reports back the answers.... Best response wins...

  14. Gotten some decent dryfire in the last couple of nights.

Stupid serrated /stiff mag release has my thumb blistered and cut open. Decided to stop when I needed to wipe the blood off the gun. Tomorrow I'll superglue it up and get to it.... One thing I'm working on is improving my reloads from the OTHER mag pouches, ie not the first one. Need to get baselines better nailed down.

Got some new target stands for my b-day, so I'm going to be able to set up better drills in the basement. This weekend I want to pick up some 1" PVC to make some boxes.

Can anyone beat taking two months to clean a gun? I stripped my beretta down in November for cleaning before storing it away... I finally got it back together a couple nights ago. Procrastination: why do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

put a 13 lb recoil spring in the glock, well see if that helps tame the FS. Some traction will make an even bigger differene. ...

  15. Chris, yup, balanced flat on the front sight. break the shot w/o disturbing the gun enough to cause the dime to fall...

Got some dryfire in tonight. Verified I could do 10x w. the dime again. Now that I have it figured out, it seems like no big deal.

Did some basic draws, a few speed drills such as 2R2, el prez, Burkett reloads. About 45 minutes total. Goal tonight wasnt speed, just getting back in the groove after a few days off in a row. Also really focused on getting to the right grip from the holster and after reloads so I'm position for the best trigger press.

  16. We did some checking and for the ones that were randomly chosen here at the factory, they are within guidelines or very close, it depends on belt thickness.

    Hello Tessa,

I happened to check my new DOH (Christmas present) tonight after noticing it seemed like a long 2". It measured about 2-5/16". But that's with a double belt, which is common I these games. The outside belt was right at 2". I wonder if the double belts, e.g. CR Speed, are something you are taking into account?

I found this thread because I was figuring i would have to heat/bend the offset piece, but thought I'd see if it was a common problem or if better solutions had been found.

    Your input is appreciated!

    Thanks,

  17. :D 10 in a row, finally! (dime on the front sight)

First couple of attempts stopped at 7-8. The trick.... stick my damn finger as far in the trigger guard as I can get it!

I'm so happy w. my grip I put little marks on my hand w. permanent marker at the rear corners of the gun so i can verify my grip when I get back to speed work.

This bronchitis has been kicking my ass.... But accuracy work is always beneficial, too....

Hoping to return to speed drills tomorrow.
