  1. Just a quick bit of advice regarding the use of the dot... look at using it for distances beyond 10 yards, as you may find it will speed you up compared to using a scope. I use my dot out to about 50 yards (sometimes farther, depending on the stage). I tend to treat my rifle as just a long pistol for any run and gun stage (accuracy is for shooters with time on their hands ), and that has helped a lot. Once I coached my wife to do that, her short-range game improved tremendously.
  2. Still plugging away with .38 Super. It works for me, so no point in changing it. My experience is the same as Rich (above). Ed Cameron built my race gun (and my wife's), and the handful of problems I have had can all be traced to improperly loaded ammo (or failure to QC), or a problem with magazine setup. I've got >50K rounds through mine, and it just keeps running fine.
  3. Something to look at, as this happened to me once when installing a VTAC handguard... check to see if the outer nut is hitting the ejection port cover pin as you tighten it down. Some of the pins may be a hair too long, or even installed incorrectly so that they extend forward of the front edge of the receiver.
  4. I'm shopping for a mount to put a JPoint on an M2. All I have found so far is Arrendondo's mount. Are there others that I should consider, or should I just just looking and get Ralph's mount for hte JPoint? TIA, -Greg
  5. Depends on whether they have the pistol grip stock or for field stock. My understanding (and I'm not a lawyer and I didn't stay at a holiday inn) is that if they have a PG stock, other parts needs to be replaced to meet the needed US parts count. With a field stock, no worries.
  6. I'll be able to answer your question in about 4-5 months when mine shows up. I've also got an AR-10T that I recently had the barrel shortened to 18", and I ordered a Fulton Titan upper a few weeks ago to go on my DPMS lower. I'm kind of diving into the .308 world. I'll shoot them all and then decide which I'll use for HM. FWIW, the AR-10T is a tack driver. It's a sub-MOA rifle easily, using whatever ammo I had sitting around. The only ammo it didn't like was some surplus Radway Green.
  7. This is good news.... I was wondering why I wasn't hearing anything back. I'm looking for a .38 Super die.
  8. Does anyone know if the folks at CasePro are still in business? I need to order up another die set, and they haven't returned calls, e-mails, etc. Web site content seems a bit old, too.
  9. +1.... My wife is looking at getting one of these for her M2, but I'd like to know if anyone has already tried one out and how they like it.
  10. That's right! She was pretty happy about that. Which reminds me, I need to do a little work on her Tec loaders to make her reloads smoother and easier. A few of them still stick a bit.
  11. I'm surprised I did as well as I did... I was just getting over a cold and was still having some trouble breathing right. My wife is the one with her (distinctive/trademark) pink 11-87. However, she's talking about wanting to restore it to classic black. Her AR will stay pink.
  12. Try this... I heard that the prize table for SMM3G was worth something like $180K this year. If 25% is set aside for the ROs, that's.... $45,000 worth of stuff. That sounds like compensation. FWIW, I don't really think the prize table was worth $180K, but at least for SMM3G and the Area 2 match, the ROs are taken care of. I don't know if this is the case with other large matches.
  13. Actually, the last time I checked, the SMM3G match has a waiting list for ROs. See below for reason. Sorry, gonna have to call foul on this one. By my estimates (and it's just an estimate), approx 25-30% of the prizes for the match are reserved for the ROs only. I'm not opposed to compensation for the ROs, but let's tell it like it is. The ROs do have their own prize drawing following the match that includes several firearms and other big ticket items. Furthermore, under Furbee's management (and I don't know if this is still the case), non-shooting ROs did get paid some cash.
  14. Well, my beater AZ DPS trade-in 870 ran better than my Benelli. I had a good time at the match, probably because I didn't expect much out of my first time out with a pump shotgun and did better than expected. However, pump shotguns are too much masochism for my taste. I'll keep it in case I decide to shoot he-man/heavy metal, but otherwise it's back to beating my head against the wall called a Benelli.
  15. My M2 has had only minor mods made to it: SRM mag extension, a C-Rums welded up lifter, and an Arredondo Speedloader assist have been installed. Otherwise, no 'smith has touched it. Jay... not knocking the 870. I may run mine anyway for the same reason -- I may be shipping out my M2 to be worked on, so I might as well go old school... It's one of the DPS trade-ins, so it's got a little "character" to it.
  16. I thought Benelli's never broke, never missed, and never malfunctioned. Did I make a mistake buying one? Italian shotguns are like Italian cars -- when they're running, they run like a scalded dog. When that take a dump, you're gonna wish you had a Toyota. I have an M2 that I picked up a couple of months ago that had been running fine *until* I got to Raton. On stage 4 (shotgun, 6 birdshot, 18 slugs), I started having problems with the bolt not closing on a new shell (had to tap the bolt forward to get it to close). Stage 6 (all birdshot), I had 3 failures to feed out of the mag tube. I'll have to spend some time at the range to figure out what is going on with it. Hopefully I'll have it figured out in time for this match, otherwise I'll be running my 870.
  17. Yup, that was the squad I was on (squad 16). We were getting ready to start with our first stage of the day (stage 3) when that deer and mountain lion came frolicking by. We were actually pretty happy that the mountain lion decided *not* to run through our group. The deer went south, the lion went north, and I went west (I was the first shooter on the stage).
  18. I'll be there with my single shot Benelli. Is there going to be a division for those of us with single shots?
  19. Here's the JPoint on my 1100: I've tried a friend's 1100 with an Eotech, and aftr that experience (and watching her shoot with it), I've decided the JPoint/Optima is the only way to dot an 1100/Benelli.
  20. I picked up 4 of these (they were running $20-25 depending on the dealer) at a gun show a few months ago, put Magpul followers in them, and they all run perfectly. I plan on scarfing up more the next time I'm at a show. I'd like to compare them to a Sterling, but I don't have one to do a side-by-side.
  21. Hmmm.... me no so looking forward to match this weekend. I like my thumbs. Oh, well... it's not a match until someone is bleeding, right?
  22. OK, I'll bite... As a new Benelli M2 owner, what are these mods and how will they benefit me?
  23. I'm curious to know if anyone is making a magazine tube extension, or if Arredondo will make a speedloader assist for it. I tried e-mailing Ralph, but my e-mail bounced (said I was unknown, so SpamGuard bounced it back).
