  1. Its a dillon alright but was told today that the primer pin and ball were consumables; what a bummer
  2. Was thinking the same thing with the higher powered scope for the development stage but don't have one right now.
  3. I have an 18" 1:8 twist 223 Wylde chamber
  4. kind of my thoughts too, I try to hold in the same place but had to ask the question; just how good can you group with a 6x scope? I am playing around with some ideas on making a target that works well with the Razor JM reticle, like you said some perimeter markings for a second reference.
  5. Went to the range last night to shoot the next batch, here are the results; 1. Description: 24.3 CFE223, COL 2.235", Temp: 92 °F, BP: 28.97 inHg, Altitude: 25.00, Average: 2712.2 FPS, Group Size (in): 1.51" without the flyer it was .721" 2. Description: 24 CFE223, COL 2.235", Temp: 92 °F, BP: 28.97 inHg, Altitude: 25.00, Average: 2671.2 FPS, Group Size (in): 2.50" Question; as I was trying to line up on the target I realized I can't see the target or where I placed the previous round very well. Just how close should I expect to get if I am just guessing at where I had aimed the shot before? Is there a favorite type of target y'all use to make it easier to replicate the previous shot? The targets are 6" x 8", trying to replicate a full size target at 600 but placed at 200. Just trying to get the picture in my head. Getting closer but still have some work to do, ordered some Ramshot Tac and some 77 gr SMK. We will see how they do! Going to build a few more using the CFE223, bump it up a little faster and try to close the gap.
  6. I will sort through and see how many I can dig up, no guarantee that they are once fired but at least they will be LC.
  7. i have the Lyman M die on order and should be here soon. Found a chip on the expander ball and the replacements cost almost as much as the whole M die.
  8. I'm sorry for not getting back, I was talking the ID of the neck. I looked at the expander ball and there is a chip gone on the top side of the ball. Replacements have been ordered.
  9. using Dillon trim/size die mounted with the Titan brass trim adapter and a Bosch motor, and then using the expander ball on the dillon size die to open the neck up
  10. The data I did get from the first batch is basically just velocities, I understand that but I was there smelled gun powder so.... couldn't help myself. I was a little taken by the difference in the groups from each charge though. Case prep - I did happen to sort the brass for the 20 and had all the same head stamps, wasn't LC though didn't have too many of them. I believe they were all FC Rem 223. All trimmed to 1.750". Loading - The next sets has been done at .3 increments. CFE223 (5 each) at 23.7gr, 24gr and 24.3gr COL at 2.235". Varget (5 each) at 24.3gr, 24.6gr and 24.9gr COL at 2.235".
  11. Thanks for the links, this is for ar15 magazine fed ammo to be used in a multigun competition. There is a ton of good reading on those links. Thanks
  12. i swapped mine over, functions 100%
  13. no replies or comments? Must be perfect, lol.
  14. I think they are supposed to be 1/2" but they are a little bigger after printing out
  15. Took my rifle out but did not get to use the 200 yard range, to crowded and was running out of daylight. I was stuck at using a 60 yd bay so I set up and was really shocked at the grouping. At this point I am just really interested in what the chronograph will report. I am no bullseye shooter by any means but come on! Let's here the bantering begin. All 5 shot groups 23 grains at 60 yards 68 gr HPBT running 2538fps 24 grains running at 2644fps 25 grains running at 2732fps 26 grains running at 2913fps Just to make sure the rifle was still on I shot a group of my close range rounds 55 grain running at 2830fps I need some help! Thanks
  16. Update- Took this out to the range and it was actually a pleasure to use it. Set was quick, connected to phone, was shooting and recording in just a few minutes. Didn't miss one shot and no errors, very nice not to have to stop between each string and write down all the numbers. Cool thing being able to share and forward information too. Great job!
  17. Thanks, we will see tonight how they do. Came across a heck of a good deal on the 68 grain Hornady so that is why I have them. Couldn't pass em up
  18. how much longer? I hadn't thought of that.
  19. Yea right !! I was a little surprised it picked up the fork at all Thanks
  20. Just got mine today, too late to make it to the range but had to set it up in the living room. All I had to test it with was a clear plastic fork and throw it through the shooting area. It works and read all the straight throws, even one that bounced through at 6 fps. Pretty impressed so far. Thanks
  21. Been using the miculek brake now for several months, like it so much got two of them. Thanks
  22. AR rifle has already been sighted in and do have a 200 yard range, hoping to get a good grouping at 200 and I found a place I will go to in a couple of weeks that goes way farther than a 223 will reach. According to Vortex LRBC on their website even at 2600 fps the round should stay supersonic out to around 800 yards. I have a Chronograph so I will report all the data later
  23. thanks, I will be watching for that
  24. New to loading for rifle really, worked up my close range fairly quick and was happy with them. I am test firing the ones I built this evening and we will see how they go and move from there. When I did the 55gr loads I did .2 grain increments and just didn't really see much change between them until I got closer to almost 1 grain. So cut to the chase and start at 1 grain and work backwards.
  25. My thinking on that was i figure it will be between 25 and 26 grain or 2800 top 2900 fps range but hoping for the most economical load. I see most posts are around the velocity here and other places with a 18" 1:8 barrel. My 55gr loads are at 24 grains and run just shy of 3000 fps and group well. I do have some varget but just 1 pound and have 14 of CFE223 so working it up first. 24 grains of varget will put me right at 2800 fps so should be close
