  1. If you get a 20inch barrel, the overall length of the gun will be about 2 inches longer than the 20inch barreled CTR2, because the receiver is that much longer. You also get that length "advantage" in the sight radius when using iron sights.

Is it possible to get the smaller brake with the medium contour barrel? I wasn't sure how the diameter of the 308 medium contour would compare to the medium contour 223? I'm assuming the outer diameter is the same since the hand guard is the same diameter.

Brock is back at JP???? :surprise:

Last I heard, he was at Nordic.

    Tim

Well that could explain why he hasn't answered my emails... Last I spoke with anyone from JP he is who I talked to... So i just assumed...

Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow to check about spec'ing one out.

Are there any LE discounts or deals available? Last time I ordered direct but I have a line on a dealer that might be able to get at slightly discounted rate but not sure yet.. Any suggestions?

JP offers the 22 inch in a full contour barrel, they do not offer the medium contour in the 22". here is a pic of my 22" after it has been turned down and comped. Benny Hill did this work.

  2. mrwhite1 our snipers are getting 1/2 inch groups with ours. They love the gun.

Hard to argue with that, especially out of a semi-auto 308 platform!

Pretty sure I'm going to order one as soon as I sell my M21

When i bought my first JP .308 i began to work up loads using the 135 gr. SMKs. 44.5 grs. of IMR 4895 yielded a .322 (.640 out to out) 5 shot group at 100 yards. hard to beat that!

  3. Most details are listed on the website at;

    www.survivaltrial.com

"The survival Trial is an adventure race revolving around survival based situations. This is a continuous 24 hour event, spanning approximately 50 miles of rugged mountainous terrain."

The event starts at 2200 hours on 5 May, finishing up 24 hours later. A few team slots are still available. Each competitor will need a pistol and a carbine, ammo, and survival gear. RO/safety observer slots are also open for the shooting scenarios and other staff positions. If you aren't sure you want to "run" in the event as a competitor, staffing it is a great option to check it out, At this time more staff is needed.

  4. I am shooting the WWII division at the match. i thought it would be a hoot. as to family: my dad was a bomber pilot in Europe, his middle brother was on a destroyer escort in the Pacific, his youngest brother was in the 1st Marine Division in the Pacific, my mother's brother was in the Army in the Pacific and my father-in-law was in the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific.

we do honor the WWII vets, but we are also going to have a very good time shooting those guns. y'all come.

  5. i have an IOR 1.1-4X, a 1.5-8X, and a 3-18X. all are great. the 1.1-4X is an older scope but has performed very well. i have it on a .223 carbine that i use for NRA tactical matches. the 1.5-8X is on my .308 for multi gun and the 3-18X is on a bolt gun for my newly acquired habit of precision shooting. i highly recommend them. they are heavy, tho. they are high quality for the price.

  6. I have considered that as well but it would still be over what I would pay for the M1A with the parts I would want to use. My mind is not made up just thinking of my options. My main question is which M1A do I need. For example is the National Match gun a waste of money for our game and is the Loaded a better choice for the money?

    Thanks

    Pat

I searched this particular forum for 'M1a national match'; not the three words in quotes as a rigid phrase, simply those three words.

Some quick results of interest below.

    Some advise from Kurt:

Sorry rockie move on my part not using search. I did look up a site and found that the national match is guarnteed at 1.5 moa with match ammo and the loaded is at 3 moa. I think I am going to get the National Match its $300 more from my FFL. I will follow Kurts advice on the sights and trigger.

i think the loaded has a medium heavy barrel. i had a standard m1a that i sent back and had a medium heavy barrel put on. it would consistently shoot one-half MOA at all distances with match ammo. ball ammo went a bit bigger.
