  1. I met and shot with Bud the first time in 2004 at the Colorado State Championship. After the match, while waiting for the scores, we ended up running a few folks through a plate rack that was still set up. Bud stepped up, pencil barreled revo in hand.... UPSIDE DOWN and cleaned the rack..Something I had never seen before ...or since ! After a couple runs he turned to me and said "wanna try?" I will never forget the smile he had on his face when I said " uuuhh yea...sure ! " Bud has been a friend and mentor ever since. I will miss him, Gods Speed My Friend, Kevin
  2. Patrick..... S&W did make "that" profile 6 or 6-1/2 flat sided just like the 5" ones.... JohnB has two of them ! From what I have seen..... I Think Doug Carden should know the guy you are looking for .... Try PM-ing him Kevin
  3. Got my slot !!!!!! Add me to the list of those that will be there Q
  4. Everybody needs a nice J-frame for the pocket! smile.gif (especially for dispatching wounded deer) eh Mike ??? Tom, I also carry a 340 stoked full of corbon 125 JHP's and a speed strip in the "other pocket !!!! Duty type trigger job r e a l l y....smooth. I had it Magna ported and it is very comfortable to shoot now...... Oh !!! I was warned that the porting would blind me if I "had" to shoot it in the dark..... The reality is I practice with it in near total darkness on a weekly basis (benefit of working at an indoor range) and the barrel cylinder gap flash is much greater than the small flash from the porting !!!!!!!! Funny, just today I was told that carrying a revolver as a personal protection gun was putting myself in danger because I was only carrying 5 rounds ??? Knowing that mine was in my pocket I asked to see what "they" were carrying......mmmmmmm well it appears they left it at home ???? :surprise: huh ?? OBTW..... never never never have had Corbon stick in my 340....YMMV You will like the 340 Kevin
  5. Kevin is planning to go if he gets an invite, but I think he's in the 70's on the wait list. So he's wearing knee-high tube socks, double-knit polyester short shorts, and pork-chop sideburns? Got a picture? It worries me a bit that you would even want one! mmmmm I too am worried............ I only have 40 in front of me on the list....... per previous conversations....I will be there .( If I am still in country in September)Sooooo ADD 1 to the list !
  6. Bill, I too ran into this problem awhile ago.... this is what I did to isolate the problem At first I thought it was the moon clips... so 1 When you find a moon clip that will not drop in fully... remove it, de-moon and try each round one at a time in each of the charge holes... If they all drop in it is probably the moon clip... (I had a batch that were out of spec ) 2. More probable is you will find that 1 or more of the individual rounds will not fully drop into the charge hole. And here is what I found a. When using mixed brass fired from semi autos especially those with non-fully supported barrels or slightly over sized chambers can leave a slight bulge at the base... a full length sizing die cannot reach far enough to the rim to prevent the seating problem from occurring in a revolver.(they worked fine in my bottom feeders also) b. Using a Lee sizing die further exacerbates the problem especially if you do not lube the cases before running them through the die. c. I had much better luck using a Dillon sizing die with well lubed cases. YMMV d. 100% of this problem was eliminated by running all my mixed brass through a Case Pro roll sizer and then reloading.... (after roll sizing, either die worked with or without resizing lube) I used that brass exclusively in my revo's and never had the problem return. Hope this helps. just my $.02
  7. Scars are like tattoos.....only they have better stories.....and memories !
  8. Might even have it magna-ported. And I took a correspondence course a few years ago on engraving. Might try my hand at that too. Tom, Maybe we could shorten the extra Ti cylinder I have..... to .45 gap length and set the barrel back ...Ohh a .45 starters revo. mmmmmm
  9. These are my results for 38 Long Colt ...YMMV... Powder Charge Bullet Weight OAL Power Factor Average Velocity Solo1000 3.3 gn. Billy's RN 160 1.395" 126.24 789 Solo1000 3.5 gn. 10. John, Glad the 29 was the only thing harmed. I did talk to Tom Freeman today..His theory is that the "entire" top of the powder charge was ignited resulting in the catastrophic explosion. With recoil and movement of the powder charge "it could happen" and probably is the most plausable answer. Just a theory ! Cheers
  11. I don't know if USPSA will make any effort to put together a dedicated revolver super squad like they did last year. We might be spread throughout the crowd, which wouldn't be quite as fun, but might be a good thing for PR. Sam C. and I are shooting the match on a student shoot-through pass, so he only has to miss one day of school. We'll be joining three different squads on Friday AM, Friday PM, and Sat. AM, shooting 6 stages with each squad. Should be fun! We hope at least one of those squads contains a bunch of our fellow wheelgunners, but who knows! Mike, Hope we get to shoot a stage or two ! Hop, Add me to the list I am one of those lurking members on the site Wish I had a wee bit more time in the day to post more... Cheers, Kevin
  12. Randy, It is a bit humbling...especially when he makes it looks soooooo easy. OBTW nice job on his 627 really smoothed up quite nicely! The competition was C L O S E !!!!!! (dem Terry boys put up a fight ! ) Overall I was pretty happy ...only a week earlier I was shooting a stock 627. Saturday it had a few extra ports (holes) and a c-more. (alot can be done in a week) Great match and great group of folks. I had a great time ! K
  13. Mike, I think I would have agreed only a few short weeks ago....After blowing three stages at Area 2 due to light primer hits (with a 5lb-8oz trigger pull) ....I felt the same way ! HOWEVER ! the engineer in me felt there was something missing so I sent my 25-2 to Randy to find the missing "something"Along with a side of Ti Results ? 4 pound 2 oz. Trigger pull S W E E T !!!! AND a snappy consistant trigger return Range report.....to date 2,550 plus rounds 100 % functional. So really up to this point all this is mearly interesting..right? What happened during a recent practice session changed everything I used to believe. In the past I have NEVER recorded a split time faster than .20 So I decided to see just how much better "The Darkside" really was/is. I shot 3 bill drills..Drill # 2 was a best. All A's with no split greater than .19 and the lowest being a .14 (o.K. except for the draw and reload which were slow) I know split times are not the whole story but after shooting two matches I have not had a short stroke yet ! This gun really helps make it look "easy" to rip through a close array.... Ahhh..... back to the old "grip it and rip it !" IMHO when we approach the point of diminishing returns......"what" we do becomes much less important than "how" Just my $.02
  14. I'll Be there...... Just down the road from my folks place ! See you then! Kevin
  15. Mike! I just had to chime in. In the Past two years I have put approx. 50,000 rounds down range, either in practice or local matches. I have only had three mechanical malfunctions. And only these three ! 1. 2004 USPSA Nationals. 1st day third stage of the day I shot the the comp off my IMM Shorty. Actually it did not come all the way off but the round hole through it looked more like a tee pee !!!!! 2. This year @ Area III (my bad....you actually have to lube a revolver ????) lack of lube caused a curious galling between the hammer and the rebound slide and resultant trigger sticking / non movement ! 3. As if that was not enough AGAIN this year Area II For no, good, plausable, reason my "ole reliable" 25-2 exibited light primer hits (read ,,,no boom) on three stages !!!!!!in a row ! There is still no reason that I, or others more in the know I can find to explain this one!!!!!!! WHY O WHY at the major matches ???? I guess what I am saying is ,,,,it could have been worse ! Anyway congrats on a great year and good luck with the new CS....Hope it solves the current dilemma and "holds up". OBTW Hope you and Sam make the Rocky Mountain ICORE match this year. It was great fun! Kevin
  16. I use a pair of Cornwell Hog Ring pliers. They are WAY Ergo. correct and inexpensive. I wish using them was my idea. Actually got my first pair from Bud Bond.....Last time I ran into the Cornwell truck I picked up a couple "extra" pairs. If you were so inclined you could dremel a notch in the lower jaw to help locate thte center of the moon clip but so far they work just fine right out of the box !!!! Cheers
  17. Heh ! All ! Here is what we have so far Dick Duck Dan Kal John Burkholder Steve J Carol (My Most better half shooting open) Dave H. Dude, bring a wheelie !!!!! Oh ! n lil ole me ANY MORE ??? I will probably send these in tomorrow ! Thanks K

  19. Does anybody here ever work?? Looks like Jerry is in a "couples" squad.....Dan, Six Shot, John,.....Any thought on putting togeter a revo squad ?? Talking to Babera in E-Mail and If you want Myself and Stev and Carol would like it if we could put a squad together a revos + 1 bottom feeder (CK My Wife shoots open) or something like that ! Mike, Too bad your not goigg to make it! It was fun shoothing w/you and watching Sam... OBTW pass on congrats on all the press he is getting.....Sandwich ? Any interest in putting together a squad ???? Tom F. When are you getting home ?? Cheers
