  1. see ya all there, with longjohns and gloves and coats and everything else "fairweather phil" will need..
  2. I feel that my 40 shoots not more accurate consistently, but also like the recoil pulse better. As far as cost , i reload both, yes the 40 might cost more, but when i shoot 2 matches monthly, it only is negligible. truth be known, we spend a bunch on the pistol and getting it set up correctly, and the are concerned about a few cents difference. I dont know, seems petty to me, maybe it is all the time i spend shooting 38 super in open.
  3. u must have good eyes and good trigger control to offhand that well.,@25 i cant even see the a zone on the head! good shooting
  4. I like the idea of the longer sight radius found on the 9L or pro, but i would really rather shoot a 40, anyone heard of the possibility one might be in the works? I have both the full sizr 9 and a 40 and like the 40 better for USPSA Production and or IDPA. Am i alone on this?

    SP101

recent rugers in my opinion have better triggers then smiths, i think u are correct in your accessment with needing to be able to pull the trigger and be confident you will hit what you are aiming for and that 357 is probably not the round for many. I do disagree with you on the revolver not being the firearm for women. i think that never jamming at the worst time, and relibility are most important, not to mention no safetys to fumble for when panicked are a great reason for revolver choice. Most people who carry or just have something for home, will not spend the time to learn the firearm well. But the topic was Ruger or S&W airweight, all firearms have their issues, the revolver, for many are a excellent option. Just my 2 cents

    SP101

the ruger with ct grip sounds like the way to go, it will be easy to shoot with 38 sp loads and the ct makes a great shooter that when needed the laser will get u on target quick with confidence, great move if needed in the middle of the night or if needed to fire from hip or other awkward position

    SP101

I have owned both, the SP101 is a great revolver it weighs more then the airweight S&W, but for home defense and also occasional carry it is much easier to shoot and to practice due to recoil concerns, not to mention you can shoot 357's through it. I think it is a good plan. Weight is the only negative aspect, i myself would opt for the 3 1/16 barrel lenght if it is avail.

    czsp01 mags

push up on the basepad retention,"little circle area at bottom of basepad" while sliding pad foward slowly, when pad comes off there is bottom plate, spring and follower. spring is under tension so do it slowly. assembly is in reverse.
  9. testing the water to see if anyone wanting to split a room for the match?
  10. i chrono'd my load of 4.1 TG, 121 gr mg, 1.115 oal in my 4.25 M&P and got a avg of 1074fps for a 130 power factor,,it is real accurate and a pleasure to shoot,,same load in my CZ SP01 and got 131.5 pf..You need to be 10ft away from the chrono as mentioned in prev post..
  11. we will all reap what we sew one day.
  12. +1, the fitting is done on the kadet kit, or at least that is what i did to mine and it works great. enjoy!
  13. wow, thats super nice, wich someone in ga was shootin one, so i could try it
  14. contact kenny at speed shooters spec., he is a forum dealer, click on the name and go to the web,,i would say 13 or 15 to insure slide staying in battery, he has all the m&p stuff
  15. that is pretty long, you need to make sure your barrel is cut that deep, i go no longer then 1.160 it will also depend on bullet overall length i.e 115 vs 125 i think the 115's would be shorter,,you might want to use what has worked for you before chrono and experiment with charge weight and length. i just went thru this and settled on shorter due to function.
  16. +1 for the 7000, it is great
  17. Cy, I e-mailed J.A. and his response is that under current rules you have to use mags that are the same as came in the gun,,i.e SP01 mags with SP01,,the rules in front sight are not finalized as of yet and there may be revisions. I ordered SP01 mags today and installed my fpb so my cz's are good to go. It also looks like the alum cz grips are ok as of this time.
  18. yep the mag answer is not addressed in the latest front sight mag and i am unsure if the cz alum grips are ok at this point..anyone know?
  19. i dont know if he is still building, contact chris @ cpwsa.com..i have gotten to 8.4 silhouette 121 gr mg at 1.166-1.168 oal for a 168.2 pf,,primers show a little flattening and a rise around the firing pin,,nothing badly though,,anyone using other powder choices? slightly compressed load, i am thinking 8.5 should get me to 170 pf,,anyone else got ideas?
  20. i did 7.9 yesterday at 1345 fps and 166 pf,,i guess 8.0 will work, but with altitude and temp 8.1-.2 will be the #,,slight flattening no more then other stuff,,my sv 5" will do a 172 pf at 7.8 with the same oal and bullet,,but these tests are with 124 mg jhp,,i have a case of the 121's..
  21. btw, it seems that J.L has these short chambered and that 1.150 was his rec oal, i am thinking about having it cut deeper, i am using sv mags and no spacers,,function is fine
  22. Hardy 4.5 and silhouette 9 major load? (merged thread) i have a mongoose 4.5 barrel with 2 holes it seems like i am gonna need 8.1-8.2 to make major using mg 121 gr and hardy rec 1.150 oal..seems like a lot of powder,,anyone out there shooting one of these critters..i am using fed sm rifle and they seem to flatten even with my 5"sv at less powder, i think that is due to it being a soft primer,,mostly my concern is powder charge,,any other rec?
  23. the people on gb trying to gaff shooters with sky high pricing, in my book a p o s ripoffs,, supply and demand, smart bus decision, whatever,, i call it greed and xxxxx. i have some for myself,,but the hording and whatever else,,just reminds me of $4 a gallon of gas
