  1. Might want to take a look at the DVC Steel model which is designed to run factory minor ammo. https://stiguns.com/guns/dvc-steel/
  2. Just noticed on the STI website that the STI DVC Open gun is now only offered in 9mm. Is 38SC dead ??? https://stiguns.com/guns/dvc-open/
  3. Distance from my STI DVC open gun grip to inside of belt is exactly 2" per USPSA rules using the extended ball joint rod. I love the extra thumb clearance it gives me.
  4. I think the two best additions to the Alpha X holster are the new thigh pad and more importantly for me is the extended ball joint which lets me position the holster further out from my thigh. The guys at DAA really listen to their customers !! https://www.doublealpha.biz/alpha-x-extended-ball-joint-rod
  5. Wile the US average is 1.2 most doctors want you under 5 and most sources I have looked at define actual "lead poisoning" as anything over 10. Most ranges will pull you off at 40 or 50.
  6. You usually want to get two separate lead tests. One for blood lead level (BLL) and one for absorbed lead (ZPP). The US average BLL is 1.2 micrograms per decaliter of blood. When I left the range I was at 22 and one of my co workers was at 18.
  7. Anyone ever heard of lead poisoning issues while hand loading modern rifle or pistol ammo ? I worked at a range that lead poisoned me and they are trying to claim that I got it because I handled. Thanks in advance.
  8. I use this for all my precision rifle reloading so use it for all my pistol stuff also.
  9. 7.2g WAC, 124g MG JHP, OAL=1.232, Winchester or CCI primers, 1370fps, PF 170 in my STI DVC 38SC open gun. Runs like a champ.
  10. Got to shoot the new VP9 compact today. All I can say is WOW. Best CC gun on the planet by far. All the features (ergonomics, trigger, mag release, build quality, etc.) are there in spades. If you are looking for a CC gun then you owe it to yourself to take a really close look at it.
  11. I use 5.4g WAC with MG 124 JHP in my M&P ported with the 5 inch barrel and it works flawlessly.
  12. I work 6 days a week as an CRSO and instructor on a high volume range and compete on weekends. I use a ShotMaxx 1 literally every day and have had no problems whatsoever. I always use the accelerometer mode for myselfmand the spy mode for matches. I will pick up the new ShotMaxx 2 shortly. Highly recommended !!
  13. Here is some information from the 2016 USPSA nationals. Looks like Winchester was the most popular followed by CCI and then Federal. Based on that I use Winchester in my Open major gun and it runs great. http://www.doublealpha.biz/uspsa-gear-report?utm_source=DAA+Live+Site+Customer+DB&utm_campaign=39f58d68f6-Mark_7_machines_and_accessories10_21_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_d35278cb58-39f58d68f6-107941489
  14. I have both the Racemaster and the Alpha X. I like the Racemaster much better. The Alpha X is much sturdier but less adjustable. The Alpha X works just OK with my open gun (STI DVC open) but I like the Racemaster MUCH better for my striker fire guns. I can adjust the distance from my hip to the holster much better with the Racemaster.
  15. I see 9mm (.355") JHP listed but no 38Super (.356") JHP. Any problem using 9mm .355" bullets in place of the 38Super (.356") bullets ?
  16. Am shooting an STI DVC open gun chambered in 38SC and have been shooting MG 124g JHPs at a PF=170 which are costing me a small fortune. So what kind of coated bullets are you guys running thru your open guns for practice. I figure I will stick with the MGs for matches but need something cheaper for practice. Thanks in advance.

  18. I have a M & P C.O.R.E. ported model and have a Trijicon RMR on it but want to maybe try a C-more RTS2 or Leupold Delta Point pro on it. So what mounting plates will work for each unit ? Thanks in advance
  19. As I am on an indoor range every day I use my timer in the accelerometer mode all the time except when I am doing one hand drills. Works great. A really really great feature.
  20. I have had the version 1 for over a year now and am on a range 6 days a week as an CRSO and instructor and use it every single day. I wear it all the time as my regular watch and I have the rubber cover on it. Have had zero problems although my wrist strap clasp just broke but that is an easy fix. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Might pick up the next version also as it would be nice to collect multiple strings. Great training tool.
  21. Practice ??? I just bought a new STI DVC Open gun and now you are telling me I also have to practice ? What's up with that ? We are talkin about practice ? Practice ?? :-)
  22. Just curious. What distance do most of you calibrate your red dot sight to for shooting USPSA open matches ? 15 ft ? 20 ft ? 30 ft ? Thanks in advance.
  23. After doing a little more research I found these. Pretty ingenious. http://www.mrshooter.com/mrshooterbrassmarker.html
  24. I'm shooting 38 super comp and need to mark my brass so I can sort it out of everybody else brass at the range. Right now I am using a magic marker to draw a black ring around the base but it is time consuming. Is there a special tool or a better method to mark brass so I don't lose it ? Thanks in advance.
