    VP9 Experience

The location of the palmswell/hump on the Walthers is abominable. The VP9 accomplishes this much better.
  2. CGW SP-01 Tactical. Packed up and ready to sell, I think.
  3. Correct answer. This gun is amazing out of the box. Tight, smooth, and tame...everything you'd want in a lady, but in your gun. Trigger out of the box is great and puts many factory guns to shame. The front sight is FO, but wide; if you like to action shoot you may want a narrower front sight. Checkering is aggressive on the front strap and factory mainspring housing. All you'd really need is a blended mag well; I currently have an unblended 1pc Nighthawk mainspring housing/magwell on mine. Magazine wise, I didn't like how the gun perform with Wilson ETM magazines. I ended up with a steady diet of Dawson modified Metalform mags and Tripp Cobra mags. I see that Dawson now offers Cobra mags with Dawson baseplates at a reasonable price and those will be my future mags. Perhaps the only thing I did on mine that I thought wasn't necessary was a slightly heavier recoil spring. I didn't like how light the factory provided one was (9lb?) and went to a 10lb recoil spring.
  4. The improved checkering on this model is exactly what I was looking for. I'll have sell my CGW SP-01 shortly...
  5. Didn't like my Wilson Combat ETM 9mm mags, but I've had almost no problems with the Dawson/Metalforms. Maybe one mag is slightly out of spec, but that's it. No problems with my single Tripp 10rd mag, though that's a small sample. Interested in the problems you ran into with the Dawson/Metalforms.
  6. Do you do your gunsmithing in a ventilated shed far away from everyone else? ATF smells absolutely terrible; I can't imagine having that smell in my house. I already use a dual cartridge respirator when I use a copper fouling removal agent.
  7. Picked up a Dan Wesson Pointman 9 in late May, a USP9 SD 1-2 months later, a USP 9 Expert last month, and a CZ SP-01 yesterday. At this point, none are production eligible save maybe the SP-01 (I'd have to check if the new trigger and hammer make it Limited) so I'm thinking maybe a VP9 for Production division. So many guns, not enough focus to just pick one because I like them all!
  8. My new SP-01 showed the same barrel wear. Additionally, the breech face looks funky; perhaps even marred up. I brought up this concern with the well-established custom shop I purchased the pistol from and they said this was normal. The breech face is what concerns me most, but I have to wait for the gun to get out of purgatory before I test it.
