  1. I think the plan is that you keep the holster locked all the time the gun is in it. If you are not planing to use it then put the lever in the up position. At the LAMR command make the gun ready holster it and put the lever in the down position. At the beep it is easy to brush off the lever with your finger as you are griping the gun. At first it may cost you a tenth second but after a few times you will be able to draw just as fast as from a unlocked holster. al
  2. Here is a pic of Mine. I think the rear is about .190. I agree that it is faster and that accuracy and precision does not suffer at all. Hi Festus Where can I get one like that al
  3. Guys I found this thread today while researching about sight pictures etc. On my 625 the front sight is 0.16 wide and the rear notch is 0.15. In practice this means for me, I can just see the smallest amount of light on either side of the front post at arms length. I think the simplest solution for me is to replace the front sight with a narrower one. I don't want to start in with a file. I have searched Brownells but can only find similar or larger fronts. I am thinking maybe a .10 would be good. al
  4. Jayson Since you are only here for three weeks you can forget about pistol shooting in London unless you would be happy with Black Powder pistols. You could try some airsoft IPSC Best bet is to hop on a ferry or cheap flight to either N Ireland, Isle of Man or The Channel Islands. A Bastardised version of IPSC is practised at these locations and the natives are reasonably friendly. Its only a 20 / 30 minute flight to any of these parts and Easyjet or Ryanair do a very cheap price. al
  5. At 50 feet my 625 PC will group my load of a 185 Berry's HBRN and 3.8 gr. of Clays in one ragged hole. I struck on this load about one month ago, loaded up some test loads, found they were accurate, and loaded enough to get through a local ICORE match the next day. Since I knew there were no long shots on the course for that match (nothing over 20 yrds.) I didn't bother to test the load beyond the sight in distance. My schedule has prevented me from testing out to 50 yards, but up close it's a dandy load for me. And it honestly has less felt recoil than a 9mm to me. Thanks
  6. I have used my 625 for IPSC mostly and I was wondering if anyone has used a 625 for precision shooting. I have some 185g swc lead bullets and BA10, Bullseye and AA#2 powders. Can someone suggest a accurate load. And does anyone have an idea of what size group is possible at 25 yds. al
  7. I have had a few timers and have settled with a Pact MK IV. I got it in 06 Its quite bulky and some of the guys at the range rag me about it, They also rag me about my 10 yo, built like a brick, mobile phone. Anyways the pact is good for clipping on my belt for both live and dry fire exercise. I just have to glance down to see the time. It is also great and simple to set for par time and cadence drills. The beep is a little on the loud side for dry fire inside, but hey, for consistency its better to practice with ears & eyes on. Total charge for this $0.02 al
  8. So as I said 1.08 will work fine. You can get along with longer oal with a different bullet profile. RN can be longer and still function ok also some factory is more pointed and still chambers ok. Its good to remember that it is not the oal that is the be all and end all of either, whether the round will chamber or the power factor generated. Different bullet profiles can be loaded to different lengths and still function. The same weight bullets of different profiles can be loaded to different oal and still give the same PF al
  9. I won't go into the load data since I have never used either JHPs or universal clays. I will say however that my Shadow functions quite happily with 124g flat point at 1.08 oal al
  10. My trigger spring went out at abour 7000 rounds. al
  11. From a very old western novel "The batwing doors were vomiting men" al
  12. I use Frontier 147 rn in front of 3.7g of Accurate #2 at 1.10 oal. Gives average 890 fps. al
  13. I have traveled through London airports a few times with handguns and ammo. No major problems. While you stay in the international area of the airport you are not technically in UK so apart from a few thunderstruck customs officers and a bit of extra grief you are good to go. The last time I came through Gatwick there were four of us with a pistol each and enough ammo for a small war. Since we were catching a connecting flight to another part of the UK they would not let us pick them up ourselves and explained that we would have to be escorted to the check in for our next flight. So we had to stand around for 15-20 minutes waiting for our escort. Eventually a representative of the airline arrived, and the four of us were escorted by a 17 yo pimple faced kid. So there was no way we could get up to any mischief. al
  14. Yeah sorry about that. As one of the foreigners who quite often call in here I sometimes forget where I am. But I checked the USPSA rule book and although the wording is different, in practice it should matter little. The RO should not call range is clear until the gun is holstered. 8.3.7.3 If the gun proves to be clear, the competitor must holster his handgun. 8.3.7.4 If the gun does not prove to be clear, the Range Officer will resume the commands from Rule 8.3.6 (also see Rule 10.4.3). 8.3.8 “Range Is Clear” – This declaration signifies the end of the Course of fire. Once the declaration is made, officials and competitors may move forward to score, patch, reset targets etc.
  15. AS I understand it the COF finishes when your gun is reholstered and you remove your hand from it. It is not the Ro or anyone else who makes the decision. al

    Final Sex!

Then there was the old guy who was on his death bed at the age of 97. All the family had been called home and had spent some time with the old guy talking over old times and such. And it was now just a matter of hours maybe minutes till he would pass. His nose twitched and he could smell fresh baked bread he looked around to make sure he was still on earth. Summoning his frail muscles to a supreme effort he hauled himself upright and manage his way to the kitchen where he saw his wife had baked a large platter of his favorite coconut cookies. His eyes filled with tears as he thought of the effort she had made to give him this special last treat. He reached out to pick one up in his mind he could picture the first time she had baked them for him, all those years ago. She rapped him over the knuckles with a wooden spoon and said hands off those are for the wake. al.
  17. 4.6g of bullseye behind a 124g Frontier cmj bullet at 1.08 oal makes about 130 pf out of my Shadow. al isn't that a short oal? Yeah. The Shadow has a short chamber. al
  18. In '97 I bought a used cz 75 for £225 and the following week I bought a £25 holster, leather belt and four mag pouches. and said to my mate " Well thats me all set" AAAAH I was so naive back then. al
