  1. 243 wssm has lots of negative issues 6mm Rat or 6mm AR a better choice in the AR 15
  2. I didn't have to watch I own and shoot them both.
  3. LSnSC are you talking of the match at Woody's?
  4. 175 SMK 2600 FPS 123 Amax 2575 fps 1000 yards 1000 yards Drop 417 inches 405 inches wind drift/10 mph 102 inches 91.9 inches Hmm maybe we define winning differently
  5. It won't better the .308, but it won't be far behind. Even comparing the Hornady factory 123gr against my 178gr handloads, the Grendel is only slightly behind on windage. It does, go transonic about 100yds before mine but that's not that big a deal at 1000yd Jeez can you people not read I compared two specific loads(USMC load against a factory load which it does beat) and the Grendel load does exceed THAT 308 load I specifically mentioned the Grendel load doesn't beat every 308 load. Fact of the matter the 308 or Grendel both suck at 1000 yards but it is commonly thought that the 308 is a adequate cartridge to 800 + - yards I was just showing that at these ranges the Grendel and 308 are pretty much equal in elevation and wind drift.
  6. It is a nice round but,I looked at Hornady's ballistic program and nightforce's I can't really agree with you. the energy is not even close. Plenty of energy to rock steel and punch a hole in paper. (read carefully) Using that philosophy so does Eley 22 long rifle, but it is not much fun. Wow! hard to argue with persuasive logic like that.

  8. But here is fair your ar10 load at 2610 w/175 smk falls behind the Hornady factory 123 amax load out of my 20" AR15 at 2575 fps. Its also cheaper and easier to shoot than the AR10 platform. For punching paper and ringing steel the Grendel is going to equal or better moderate 308 loads (not 308's hot rodding 155's)
  9. I haven't got my rifle setup yet so I've got no load data to compare. On paper, the Lapua 123gr beats the Hornady 123gr but I'm not sure that it beats it enough to make up for the cost differential. Distance and wind are going to be more important than drop. .1 - .2 mils better to me isn't worth the 60% or so increase in cost. The factory Hornady Amax is a real gem, good accuracy, good velocity and a great value you can find them on sale which makes them cheaper than you could make yourself if using new brass.
  10. They work great, perfect shiznit for your situation
  11. Why not try the set screw and if that doesn't remedy the issue then some loctite. Sometimes the fix is simple if this is the only issue your new gun has count yourself lucky.
  12. Full power loads race ready whenever it runs 500 rounds perfectly.
  13. I have 5 inch and shorty open guns same bullets same powders no problem. And just like any open gun right load and spring setup a shorty is not violent
  14. Uh yes they are FFL holders. You are not Maybe a little reading is in order instead of just trusting what you've heard https://www.atf.gov/content/firearms-frequently-asked-questions-unlicensed-persons

  16. Q: May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service? A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. [18 U.S.C. 1715, 922(a)(3), 922(a)(5) and 922 (a)(2)(A)] Q: May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by common or contract carrier? A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm. [18 U.S.C. 922(a)(2)(A), 922(a) (3), 922(a)(5) and 922(e), 27 CFR 478.31 and 478.30] I am pretty sure the ATF makes the rules on these issues not ZEV
  17. I am using the small rifle magnum primer CCI 450. I shot couple hundred of the 108's couldn't get them going fast enough to out perform the 123's. My data is based on shooting 850-900 yard range
  18. 30.6 grains AA2520 123 AMAX makes 2575 in my 20" Which in my gun is exactly what Hornady factory ammo chronos. Even though the 123 scenars have a better published BC than the 123 Amax in my gun this doesn't prove out as my dope for both bullets is within .1 mil. AA 2520 looks like unobtanium right now I will use either CFE 223 or Leverevolution when I have to change powder.
