  1. Bruce, your doing great......hey at least no one has threatened to do a drive-by moonclipping on you yet Though what I'm afraid of is that the next time I see you it will probably go something like this: Hey Bruce how's going.......Bruce...hey don't walk away .....no really, I just wanna say hi and ask you something .......Why are you running away???? Bruce, hang in there you contributed a lot to a really great discussion so far
  2. Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention.... There were 9 Revolver shooters at Area-1, 2006 The Area-1 was a level-III match According to the rules, there must be 10 shooters in a division to qualify that division for recognition. So, according to the rules, I (as Area Director or stats-dude, take your pick) *should* have put those revolver shooters into another division (according to 6.2.5) or *could* have allowed the Revolver division to stand "without recognition" (according to 6.2.2). I did neither. I gave full faith and credit to the Revolver shooters, and recognized them as a valid Division even though they did *not* meet the minimum requirement. Feel free to consider that (or not) when deciding how much of an anti-revolver bigot you think I am. B I apprecient the fact you chose to recognize the Revolver Division even though you didn't have to nor did I feel at anytime we were treated as "unwanted stepchildren" by you or any one else. The Area 1 Match Staff did a awesome job for ALL COMPETITORS -- ALL DIVISIONS
  3. Thanks Bruce for taking the time to voice your thought's on the subject ......glad I didn't misrepresent what you had said
  4. Two weeks ago I got to talk to Area 1 Director Bruce Gary at the Area 1 Champ. about the Revolver Division's future. His opinion is that there is too many divisions and that his idea is to keep Open, Limited & Production Divisions and to have the rest as catagories. Of course I disagreed and stated since to compete with a revolver in USPSA is so different than a auto, we truly need our own Division. I also stated that the division is growing, though we only had 9 wheels at Area 1, that number would have without a doubt been higher if the IRC hadn't been the same weekend. I invited Bruce to check out the discussions that was going on about what we want the Revolver Divsion to be and I've waited to see if he'd add his opinion before I wrote of our discussion on this forum, but now seemed like a good time to do so and perhaps he will now also. Bruce, if I've mistated any of our conversation, please correct me. Jerry V.
  5. What was truely awesome was the match staff who put on a great match and put in a lot of hard work to keep it running smooth. Walt, you & the rest of the staff ought to be real proud of how well it turned out. Thanks
  6. WAY TO GO MIKE !!! Two new Revolver Master's in the last two month's.......got to love it.......The REVOlution continues to roll on
  7. Started this IPSC thing myself with a 610, with the exception of the unfluted cylinder, thought it was great revolver. Even when I went to a 625, still missed the load I had been using in the 610. That is until I started using Berry's 185 HBRN in the 625....like those quick, snappy loads. Now I'm totally 100% with the "625 is Number 1" crowd. But no matter what you use, it's still skill & ability that makes the magic happen
  8. Be careful of the term "Limited Six" A autoloader can be downloaded to six rounds also and don't think someone wouldn't try that loophole
  9. Friend - yes........mentor ??? nah, a little too PC for me but always willing to help Would like to add that I thought Walt was quicker & smoother when he used Comp III's for the Mod. 66 compared to when he used moonclips. It seems if you're gonna use a K or L frame 38spl/357 for IPSC, stick with speedloaders. Though I started out with a 610 and liked it, after using a 625 for the last 8 mos, I understand why it's the most popular choice for Revolver Div.....it has all the desired attributes for a IPSC revolver: fast reloads, major power factor and accuracy. Hey Walt, it's good to see that 625 now in your holster........hopefully no more lame excuses when the match results are posted......right !!
  10. WAY TO GO DUDE !!!!!!! Though we can't use "danbagger" in reference to Dan anymore, perhaps we could still use it to reference any "sandbagging wheelgunners" from this point on
  11. WAY TO GO......AGAIN !!! A couple things worth noting is that a week before he took Limited in the ICORE SW Regionals shooting his 627 & puff loads and then transistioned to his 625 & major loads and shot 62.46% overall against a very talented field of competitors Good Job Dan
  12. Walt, don't sweat it dude.... ....... you're improving
  13. Welcome Warpspeed, it's amazing how having fun can be a addicting don't worry about the comments.... ......you'll get used to it Hey Walt, I find it interesting you don't think you compete against anyone else .....isn't there another class C wheelgunner that shoots at the same matches you do ???
  14. You want to play with my 625?????.... ... not a problem In fact I'm sure your going to the classifier match at Dundee next Sat. right ? I suppose I could bring a couple hundred extra rounds and perhaps both use it for the match ?? You just need holster, belt & moonclip holders which you'll need anyway. I'll pm you my phone number.
  15. Hey Lawman, Here's another vote for the 5" 625, mine's been working great and you've seen the few modifications I've done to it. If you decide to get new, Sportsman's Warehouse seem to have the best prices in the area. If you need any help revolver wise, let me know. JV
  16. Dan.....Hell I'm thinking crayons.......you know the big ones that kindergarten kids use, should fit nicely in a .45 barrel I mean come on, you test the power of the hammer by going out and shooting the thing and adjusting it until it's 100% reliable. Not complicated
  17. "The new firing pins work okay at factory weight trigger pulls using non- Wolff mainsprings" That's real interesting Then I quess my new 625 I bought last Oct. is defective, since I run it with a Wolff Reduced mainspring adjusted to 2lbs (6lb trigger pull) with 100% realiblity as in no FTFs. And yes, it does have the shorter firing pin. I with Mike about the placebo thing Waltermitty, I didn't read this anywhere in the post (forgive if it has), but did you check for endshake ? Because this can also be a factor. JV
  18. pskys2, No reason to say your sorry, it's your opinion, which everyone is entitled to express But as AzShooter wrote, those two rounds would make a big difference on the 8 shot arrays: standing reload vs minor scoring Just my honest opinion
  19. Personaly, I think the idea sucks, leave Revolver Division as is -- 6 shot
  20. Tony, CR Speed can be adjusted for left or right
  21. I've also been real impressed with SDM thumb latch (new style), have it on 3 of my revolvers, plan on fitting the rest of my revolvers with it. The checkering really grabs the thumb.
  22. Tls, Used my 610 4" for IPSC last year for about 9 mos before going to a 625 and during that time used 2 different brands of clips - Rimz & Heathco. Really liked the Rimz, never had a problem....not one. Couple months before going to the 625, I ordered some Heathco clips, a very well made & precise clip, never had a problem them either. But they are expensive $7 per vs $1.25 per Rimz and after having one of the Heathco's mangled by it being stepped on (or stomped on ) I went back to using the Rimz. Of all the Rimz clips I had stepped on, only had to throw away one, because it actually broke. Now that I use the 610 for defense & woods carry, I've gone back to using the Heathco. The preceeding is based on my experience only, your's may vary JV
  23. 8 Shoot-the Moon, I use the closest to the holster for LAMR pskys2 -- Trust me, Walt sometimes needs them all.......
  24. Used do the strong hand reload, but there was three things I didn't like about it: 1) Having to re-grip after each reload 2) Having to bring the moonclip over the back of the revolver to drop it into the cylinder. Had many moonclips miss or bounce off the cylinder. 3) Having to put the moonclip holders on the same side of the belt as the holster. Switching to the weak hand reload (as taught to me by D.carden) resolved these issues by: 1) Not having to remove my hand from the grip the whole stage. 2) Shorter distance from moonclip holder to cylinder, without my right hand or any part of the gun in the way. I still drop moonclips every now and then, but not nearly as often. 3) I can place the moonclip holders away from the holster. This style of reload is a lot smoother and faster for me but as others have wrote, you need to use what works best for you, kinda like grips & sights
