  1. I don't have an open gun myself...yet. But I have shot an SJC open gun and it was a tack driver with a great trigger job. SJC makes great open Glocks. That would be a great route to go. I judt bought a 17 that I plan to hand over to SJC so they can make it into an open gun for me.
  2. KKM is a great way to go. They are a very accurate barrel. I have one in my 24 and I am very happy with it. If you can fit a 1911 barrel you should have no problem fitting a Glock barrel. My KKM was fitted and it is tight and shots 2 inch groups at 25 yards and Im sure it could do better with a better shooter than myself pulling the trigger. I am not really sure how much more supported a Bar-sto is. KKM is the best barrel for the money IMO.

The main reason I got the Caspian slide is because I could not find a 24 at the time. This was before they came out with the latest batch of 17L, 24, and 24C. Caspian is currently not producing Glock slides at the moment. They say they will start again soon but they have been saying that for the last year. KKM is going to start producing Glock slides very soon.
  4. I know for a fact that the SJC magwell works with Arredondo and Dawson basepads and Im pretty sure that this magwell will work with most any extension. I had the THE brass magwell on my 24 before I put on the SJC magwell and lets just say I am much happier now. The THE magwell worked fine but this one works even better. It makes it very difficult to botch a reload.
  5. SJC makes a nice magwell. I just put one on my 24 tonight and it has a nice wide opening.

Rocket 35 - Go for the SJC magwell. I picked mine up tonight and it looks and works great. I have the good fortune of living 10 miles from the SJC shop. They do great work. John built my 24 limited blaster. Pictures are below. A list of the particulars: Hardchrome (Tripp Research) Caspian slide Hand fit KKM Barrel Dawson/Heinie Sights SJC Magwell SJC Trigger job SJC Stippled Grip Lightning Strike Guide Rod w/15 lb. spring. It shoots nice and flat and I have had some good matches with it.
  7. I read the info on Schuemann's site and it was pretty informative. I think I will chuck my brass cleaning brushes and just use a light lubricant with a bore snake. I can't come to grips with never cleaning the bore. That amount of change I can't handle all at once. It goes against things that were taught to me by shooters that have since gone to a better place. Interesting nonetheless and something to think about.
  8. What is Schuemanns advice about not cleaning your barrel? Just curious. I clean mine after every match I shoot. I figure a clean gun is always better than a dirty gun when it comes to the pistol running as good as it possibly can.
  9. The grip has a round feel to it. It is not square at all to me.
  10. I would say the grip is similar in size to the new Para grips. The price you found on the net is a good price. It is the best price I have seen on a NIB TS. You will not have any problems getting magazines. You can get them through ghostholster.com. This site is run By Angus Hobdell who shoots for Team CZ so he has alot of CZ accessories for sale through his site. I do not know if they are IDPA legal since all I shoot is IPSC. The TS is a great shooter. I love the way it points and the extra weight helps with felt recoil.
  11. Add 3/4 of an inch to that 35 a get a 24. I have shoot both in Limited and I love my 24. It is an even longer sight radius and with the right load you will have a very soft shooting major limited gun. If you have a chance, shoot one.

    6" Glock 24

Rocket 35 - Check Ordnanceoutsellers.com. They are selling G24 for around $560.00. I also shoot a 24 that John Nagel built for me and it is a accurate soft shooting limited gun. I can't say enough good things about it. The six inch barrel is a great way to go.
  13. I had a Storm Lake barrel with a similar problem. In general these barrels are very good quality for the money. I had a gunsmith buddy of mine polish the feed ramp and the chamber and the problem went away and I no longer had any FTF. I would give that a try. A little polish goes a long way.
  14. Give a Glock 24 a try. With the right load that 6 inch barrel makes for a very accurate and soft shooting limited gun. There are plenty of ways to improve the stock Glock trigger as well. Accessories are plentiful for the Glock platform as well. Just my 2 cents worth. My 24 had been very good to me.
  15. The CZ grips are not as big as the old Para grips. I would say they are similar to a small amount wider than the S_I grips IMO.
  16. Sorry for the breach of ettiquite with the "double tap" term. Point well taken about getting a good sight picture on the second shot. My shooting skills are a work in progress.
  17. Harmon- the barrel has normal rifling. I went to the range tonight and SHAZAM! I really like this pistol. It felt great in my hands. It has a big grip but I have big hands so it felt very comfartable in my hands. I didn't have to fiddle to find a comfortable grip. I do with my Glock. I put about 100 rounds through the gun without a hiccup at all. I had no problem shooting 2 inch groups at 25 yards. I bought this gun "Lightly" used and it already had a fiber optic front installed so the sights gave a very nice picture. It also has the sprinco recoil system/guide rod installed. This made no difference during slow fire but during rapid fire double taps the second shot was grouping very close to the first. I was shooting some very tight groups at 20 yards. I think this will help me get 2 Alphas as opposed to Alpha Charlie. The recoil was very mild and this gun felt just as good as the STI Edge that I shot recently. The trigger was very light and crisp and the gun pointed nicely for me. The only gripe I have is that I would like a little more resistance from the mag release button. I suppose a new spring could remedy that. 3 mags came with the pistol and they already had the Taylor basepads installed. I had no problem getting 19 rounds in the mags. I had a blast shooting this gun and I am looking forward to trying it out in a real match. I was really impressed with the accuracy. I think this pistol will make my time in "C" class shorter. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  18. Me too. I probably will not be able to shoot it until next week because I have to take care of my Santa Claus duties this weekend but she looks great and I love that SA trigger.
  19. The gun store just called. My TS is waiting on me. I will post some pictures tonight. Pistols for Christmas. You can't beat that.
  20. Very nice pistol Manny! Congrats. As soon as I get my yearly bonus I am going to have John build one for me. I shot John's personal gun and it was a thing of beauty. Enjoy.
  21. I have my TS on order. I will give a range report once I take it to the range.
  22. Save your money and send your 17 to John Nagel. I shot his open Glock 17 tonight and it was FLAT with the sweetest Glock trigger I have ever felt. It was an impressive open gun. I was going to build another Limited gun but not now. I will be placing my order with John very soon.
  23. Slide tightning will give you a better trigger. If the work is being done by S&J customs then rest assured it will be top notch. They just built me a limited gun out of a G24 and it is a thing of beauty. If I could shoot it to its potential I would be A class quick like. Practice and then practice some more.
  24. You should be fine. I know several people that have that set up on a 21 and it works fine. I have the same set on my 24 and 35 and I love the sight picture that it gives.
  25. Update: I went to a local gunshop today that had a CZ 75 TS in stock and I liked it alot. It has a big grip and I like that because I have big hands. The trigger was exceptional for a stock trigger and I liked the rear sight. Only thing needed is a fiber optic front IMO. It is heavier than my Glock 24 but I have no problem with that. It pointed very nicely. I was veri impressed with it. Matt will be getting a money order from me very soon. I am looking forward to attacking some courses of fire with it.
