I changed my shim to the 65 option and it made a huge difference. No more hitting high. The POI was the same as my POA. I just need to work on my loading as that seems to be my main problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone running aftermarket sights? If so what kind. Thinking about swapping my stock ones out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DIY Loading port work and welded lifter

I took a deep breath before I started. My wife asked me why I was ruining my $1100 shotgun. After showing her the finished result she said "that's pretty". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yeah sure did. I stopped about 1/16" from the serial number. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I spent about 3 hours opening my loading port last night. Lots if filing but it went well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DIY Loading port work and welded lifter
69CanaryCamaro replied to hysupra's topic in Shotgun - Technical
Almost 3 hours later. I think it came out pretty good. Might need to take one side down a little more to help me drop duces. Next on the list is to weld the lifter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
DIY Loading port work and welded lifter

Here we go. Gonna give this a try on my 1301 Comp. Before -
I have run nothing but the cheap Walmart bulk Winchester and Federal and not had a single problem. I have put about 500 shells through the gun. Maybe I'm lucky and have jinxed myself since I'm saying this but I will keep shooting the cheap stuff until it becomes a problem.

thanks for the advise jonny. i had planned on doing that when i had the gun apart and cleaning it but i forgot. i will be doing it this week for sure and giving it a try in a couple weeks.

Well I just finished my first 3Gun match this Sunday. It was only my 3rd time shooting the gun and first time shooting at something other than clays. I consistently shot high on all the steel targets so I will have to mentally work on that. The gun ran FLAWLESSLY. It turned a couple heads and got a few compliments. Now that I'm done with my first event I can definitely see the need to port the loading gate a little more and weld the lifter. The lifter wasn't a problem loading 2 but my buddy will be sharing the gun with me from now on. He will be loading shells individually as he has little baby hands. I did have to put a little Loctite on the mag release screw. It came loose both times I shot the gun before the match. It seems like there are only a couple threads that hold the button on. After the Loctite it didn't back out (obviously). I'm also going to pick up a Modified choke and see how that changes my shot pattern. Overall it was an awesome day! I went in with the goal of not getting DQ'ed, finishing last or shooting anyone. I didn't get DQ'ed, finished 20th out of 35 and didn't put anyone in the hospital.

I think it might be a good habit to get into to just leave the gun on safe whether it has rounds or not. If you do it every time then there won't be any question as to doing it or not. Just something I do and it works for me.
-
I go with loaded mag's. Saves space since I carpool also. It always looks like we are going to invade Canada with all our gear.
-
Has anyone had their lifter welded? When I load 2 it doesn't bite me but when I'm loading singles it bites just a bit.

Beretta 1301 only loading 9+1 W/ Nordic + 5 tube

I just installed mine yesterday. I left 16" but it sounds like I have to trim it down some more. I figured I can always go shorter but not longer. Also when I installed my tube I just took the old cap or plug off (including old spring) and just screwed the extension on. Is that the right way to do it or is there some super secret way of installing? -

Just got my 24" version yesterday. This was my first shotgun purchase and I think I made the right decision. The build quality is great. It's got a good light feel and really smooth action right out of the box! My +5 tube is on the way. I can't wait to get this guy out on the range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just ordered one of these beauties. I was lucky to find a 24". Do we have to use the Optima chokes or is there another option out there? Thanks and I can't wait to start shooting!
