  3. Winter I carry my EGW Modified 1911 with an on the belt Safariland 560, along with my J Frame in a coat pocket. Summer time, IWB Wilson Combat Leather with the 1911, or my XD 40 service on the belt in Rosen UPL or Rosen IWB and J Frame in a Renegade Ankle holster. If I have shorts, crotch holster for the J-Frame.
  4. Many thanks to you for getting these results out, however I have a few comments. I notice that Dale Nelson took the top spot in SSR Expert, with his "Fixed Sight" " RUGER" GP100. And then there was Frank Palka, an excellent all around shooter, taking SSR Expert with His "Colt" Python. 5. What about that Dale? I heard he really kicked it up a notch. Sorry I could not be there.
  6. If it worth anything to you buddy, I will tell you my exp with LEE. In 99 I bought 3 Lee pro 1000 presses in various condition for $50. I was assured there would be one complete within the three boxes. I handed the whole mess off to my Dad, a machinist and tool and die man by trade. We ended up with 2 working presses. I had no real issues, but I recomend you build a reloading bench that is STRONG. These machines require a stable platform to function the primer system properly. This means your bench can have zero movement. I have since bought 2 additional new Lee Pro 1000's and they have upgraded some things. Yes, compared to the Dillion products, Lee does not come close. Can you use a Lee to get started in reloading, yes. In fact for about 120 bucks, it will come ready to use.
  7. Check the hieght of your case feeder in relation to the slide.
  8. I hate Polititians, people who are politicly correct, people who are phoney. Please allow me to expand on this: 1. no matter what you position on the current war in Iraq, what is the use of legislation that is non binding? If the new congress is aginst what the President is doing, stop funding the war, take a stand for what you believe. Stop grandstanding you bunch of whimps. Right or wrong, the President is standing up for what he believes in. 2. Hillary Clinton, give me a break. I would welcome a Woman to be President, but not this one. This lady, according to her own staff, past and present, is nothing but hot headed control freak. She no more wants to hear from you than she does want to be with her husband. 3. If Hillary get elected, we could possibly be looking at 24 years of 2 familys running this country is she serves 2 terms. 4. People who are afraid to say what they have on thier mind. Go to France and live there. The reason we often have idiots in charge is because people are afraid to speak up.
  9. Well, according to the people who gave me the Safety Officer certification class, (S&W IDPA, circa 2001) you should not set out to trick the shooter. This means that if you put that type of target array in your stage, make notice in the stage walk through, pointing it out to the shooters. But you know, even when things are pointed out to me, I still f*&k it up at least once at every match. But having been married for 16 years, I have learned to accept things and smile.
  10. Craig, I will check on that crimp, and thanks for that information. Well, I am planning on making as many of the CT/MA matches as I can this season. We, over here in the Peoples Republic of New York, think ya'all are really "top shelf" in the IDPA business. See you soon. Dennis
  11. Not one that really Loves ink But thats awsome Thanks, she works as an administrator for a local college. You should see the looks her co workers gave the first time they seen her out at the summer family day that was at the water park.
  12. We got married in 1990 and it may well be the best thing that ever happened to me. The photo is recent, she was getting some work finished on her back. You might say we are into ink.
  13. You are a lucky man. I have had mine for 16 years. Pic is from 04 in CA
  14. Craig, Ditto on the L Frame S&W. My 686-4 has well over 50k rounds down range shooting IDPA from 99-2002. My load was almost exactly as you have stated above except my powder charge was 4.5 grain of Titegroup to comfortably make the IDPA PF 135,000. The brass was speer 38+P and I can't recall ever seeing any problems. Considering the gun was designed for the very potent 357, the guns stability was never a real concern. At the time, I felt that reloading a less than full power 357 was more risky, not to mention the longer OAL making reloading and unloading a little slower. Later, D
  15. IDPA is pretty much DEAD in the Albany/Schenectady/Saratoga NY area compared to what it was a few years ago. We once had a group of about 85 IDPA members combined within 3 clubs.
  16. All I can say is I was glad when Mr. Wilson put those full moon clip guns in thier own division. I wrote at least 3 letters to the original BOD of IDPA about it. Yes, the sport has its problems here and there, but in the many, 18-20, State level matches and 7 years worth of local monthly matches, I felt I was always treated more than fair. Most of the time, if there is a gray area, it works to the shooters advantage. I don't care if Bill WIslon puts the renewal money in his pocket. The people out there running IDPA do a great job and I am glad they are so I get to enjoy it when I can.
  17. Thanks for having the match. It's a shitload of work and I certainly can appreciate your efforts. I used to be into it 24/7 in 99-2002 but I had to back away due to work/family obligations. Best Wishes Dennis
  18. Thanks, now if I can only shoot it better.....
  19. Yes but there have been 3 revisions (2 and a final) for the newest rulebook which shook the world. I have all 3 in .PDF files Well, in support of IPSC, they update their rules as often as needed to maintain a "Level Playing Field". For me, this is not about IDPA vs USPSA. I am trying to find out why while on the range I hear what I hear, and there are no changes to reflect the feelings and concerns of the IDPA shooters.
  20. I have an S&W 1911. I bought this model soon after it was released and sent it down to EGW for some upgrades. EGW sear, trigger job 4.5 lbs., EGW beavertail, mainspring housing, front strap checkering, ambi mag release, ambi mag release. Gun shoots well and I have run about 5k through it. Total invested: $750 for the gun, $900 for the EGW work.
  21. Dennis, I had two "misses" that barely missed the down three (one casued a FTN) and a hit on a non threat where the bullet hole barely touched the down three perforations. Certianly it was my responsibility to make the hits but a couple centimeters here and there and my score is 13 seconds faster. Some days you make mistakes and get away with it. Yesterday I had three bad shots all day and each one cost me. That is what I meant by not catching a break. I had no issues with the SO's. I still had a good time. I hear ya, if a seconed look is required, I give it to the shooter. On stage one, not the one where you dragged the dummy, but the left side, I shot one shot through the back of the drop turner. Before they went into over thinking it, I just said, "if you don't rule for the shooter, give me the points down, they did. I had a good time as well. I am not shooting for anything other than fun at this point.
  22. What I do not understand is why the membership of IDPA are not able to get together and make the needed changes. One reason I suspect is that Bill Wilson is the "Owner" of IDPA and it is a Corperation. Bingo. What Bill wants Bill gets. I love IDPA but I think it could be a much better sport with a little effort in a couple areas. Sadly, I think Bill won't change anything if it means adopting ideas from USPSA no matter how much sense it makes. Well if thats the case, thats pretty sad. I mean, he was one of the founding members of UPSA. Well, we will have to follow along and see how it goes along. I like IDPA as much as anyone, but I see it going away, at least it has here where I live.
  23. I am not sure about what you mean by breaks, if you made an error, and I made many, they gave you the penalty. I did hear a statment that was disturbing by one of thier leaders about Master shooters knowing the rules. The Masters I observed with a few problems were talking more about judgement calls, where there is nothing in print. Again, there is a need to eliminate as much of this as one can.
  24. This is what I am talking about. I am not bashing IDPA, quite the contrary. I want to see it improve in a few area's, like the grey area's. There is certainly no way to compare the NROI to what is a pretty much a non existant program for IDPA RO's. What I do not understand is why the membership of IDPA are not able to get together and make the needed changes. One reason I suspect is that Bill Wilson is the "Owner" of IDPA and it is a Corperation. There is no longer a Board of Directors as there was in the early years.
  25. While we are talking about this, can we agree that there needs to be more standards. One guys class is a video and another is 9 hrs in length. There are no requirnments set in place. Did you follow up with all the USPSA RO classes? The initial class was 2 days when I took it in 2005. The training of the IDPA RO is questionable without an in depth rule book to use for guidence, rather than subjective calls on a case by case basis. I had my SO training from Harry Simonsen at S&W to work thier winter nationals in 00,01,02. I also went further to take the required class from IDPA in 01 taught by the same. I would say I am well versed in the rules of the sport and have taken hours of classes. It still does not prepare me to look for daylight. +1 My class was also very in depth and included training on the range. In my opinion, much more thorough than the USPSA RO class I took years ago.
