  1. Pretty nifty. Do you feel like they made a difference in your grip?
  2. I ordered a guide rod and 12lb. spring. I don't know why I'm against the RecoilMaster, but I am. Did your trigger job include replacing the ignition kit or did they just polish and tune what was in there?
  3. I had wondered about this as I've heard the stock sear doesn't hold up well for trigger jobs..
  4. Yup, I'm an ACC member and shoot most of the locals
  5. I have a new Edge, all stock. What are the typical internal upgrades on this gun? The trigger is like 3.5 lbs and I'm in no rush to invest more money, but I'm curious what people are running.
  6. I just purchased this little guy and it works fine. Previously I just used my Lee safety scale, but maintaining a good zero on that scale became a pain. It bears mentioning that powder charges weigh the same on both scales. http://www.amazon.com/Hornady-Electronic-Scale-1500-Grains/dp/B015ZLBL7Y
  7. Thanks, I've never used one. Sounds like this might be a reason to buy one and try it out!
  8. In your case I believe you will need the 18 round pads and then also the 17 round pads. Call Springer to verify. They are helpful. I went through this same confusion when buying mags/pads for my shadow.
  9. You will need Mec-Gar 16 round mags. Then you buy 18 round Springer pads for the factory and 16 round pads for the MG. The end result will be all the mags will be the same length.
  10. A fully done CGW Shadow SP01 is $1400 and they come with three mags.
  11. In my experiencethe OAL you can use in your CZ will be dependent on the bullet profile you use. Round nose bullets will load longer than flat point. I know this sounds short, but for LFP, try 1.1 and I think you'll see the gun cycles nicely and doesn't at all feel "notchy" when chambering rounds (which it does with longer OAL). I struggled with going that short, but 15K rounds later I've never looked back. No issues whatsoever, great accuracy. I use SNS coated
  12. Cost was a factor as was the ability to tune loads. Also, it's another thing to tinker with which I enjoy.
  13. Hey all, I'm new to loading .40 and am using a Lee carbide set loading to 1.180 on for an STI Edge. I had a few bullets that jammed the gun. These are older SNS cast/lubed 180 LFP The OAL was fine, but upon further inspection they wouldn't pass the drop test. Looking at the scuff marks on the bullet it appears they are just a little crooked. I've talked to people and read all kinds of posts, and I'm going to go shorter to 1.160 and open up the bell a little bit. Anyone have a measurement on a belling that works for them? I realize it's kind of a feel thing, but if you have a number I'd be interested to know. Any other insights appreciated as well.
  14. What about frame buffers? Do people regularly use these? I would envision these are for using a super light spring?
  15. Thoughts on which guide rod? Is an STI rod ok? Or do I want stainless or something. I know there is the Dawson tool-less, but more than I want to spend right now.
  16. Hello all, Picked up an Edge 5" Bull the other day. It's new to me, about 1k rounds through it. It is stock and has the RecoilMaster system in it. I'm wondering if there are any immediate upgrades I should make for reliability sake. Also, any thoughts on 165 vs. 180 projectiles with Titegroup as I have plenty of that powder. I'll be wanting to make both major and minor loads for the gun. I'd appreciate any insights you're willing to share. Thanks!
  17. Hey all, I have a shadow sp-01 with about 12K rounds through it this year. I'm wondering what are the various opinions on what to replace and when on this gun.
  18. Thanks! Of course, 8". That's what I meant to say LOL
  19. Someone one check me here. I'm going to use some 1/3 scale targets to set-up some classifiers. In order to get the stage correct, don't I also need to scale the distance between targets? i.e. if the stage plan says 2ft. between targets then I should go 16"? The heights however, should be the same I believe. I've done some googling and also searching here. Noone ever mentions scaling anything but the target and distance to the target.
  20. No chrono, but all of the following were completely fine. No signs of over pressure, I'll be settling with the top end of the listed charges, which is the same charge I use @ 1.150. Felt recoil between the long and short OAL was negligible IMO. 147 LFP @ 1.06 2.9 Titegroup 3.0 Titegroup 3.1 Titegroup 125 LRN @ 1.06 3.5 Titegroup 3.6 Titegroup 3.7 Titegroup
  21. My assumption is that, yes, those are the 147 numbers.
  22. Thanks. I'm with you on accepting advice via a forum! In the end, we are all responsible for our own actions. I agree with your advice, as it matches my own figuring based off of the loads I currently shoot @ 1.150 which are right around 135pf. Truth is I'm pretty confident I can shoot the same charge at this shorter OAL safely, but I am going to go about this the right way and work up to it. I have a few thousand of these, so I'm deeming it worth my time to work up a load. Smoke? Yup, lots of it! Interestingly, the SNS coated have little smoke. Great boolit! CZ's like some bullet profiles loaded pretty short. You should be fine at 1.06. I'll caution you not take any advice from anyone on a forum but if it were me, I'd feel pretty safe starting at 2.9 grains and working up a load. My guess is you'll end up somewhere between 3.0 and 3.1 grains. One thing to note. Titegroup burns extremely hot so expect quite a bit of smoke when using Titegroup with any cast boolits.
