  1. So cut the backside (case head end) to fit? Really, they are the same otherwise? I'll try and make contact with Bevin...
  2. Hi all, my xtreme in 40cal finally arrived (see attached image). Its great for the most part though the magazine capacity issue is not so much. Only 15 rounds (and that's tight) with the xtreme basepad. I thought the basepad was supposed to increase capacity over the standard 15 rounds but it seems not. Anyway, what I am after is suggestions on the best way to get 17 rounds re-loadable minimum (more if possible). I had bought in anticipation a Grams11-coil w/follower kit (FKT-11) from Pedersens Vaabenlager as they advised however these do not fit my mag bodies. The follower is too long and will not start into the mag body. I'm rather disappointed as they were not cheap! A fellow Tanfoglio shooter I am in email contact with now advised I need the Grams FKTS-10 - however Grams no longer list them on their website and I have not found a place that will sell them? I imagine there is hopefully a standard solution for this so any suggestions appreciated.

    SJC Frame Weight

Yes they do work. I have a G35 with lightened slide and a frame weight to up the pistol mass. Works well. I've even used the glock light with all internal parts removed and batteries replaced with lead cylinders. Gun is very stable and weighs more than my STI edge.
  4. It is an exceedingly handsome pistol, perhaps the best looking I have seen. That black ultra tough nano-ceramic coating wil be interesting to check out in person.
  5. I'm in New Zealand which is how I have access to this pistol. As stated above, the 140mm base pads will not fit the IPSC standard box. I've tried without any luck to get a hold of the Grams stuff but I don't think they ship to NZ going by the silence when I emailed them.
  6. I'm a little confused regarding the capacity of the limited custom and the limited custom xtreme version. The Tanfoglio catalog list the capacity of the limited custom xtreme at 18 rounds of 40S&W - anyone know if this is correct or is it a typo? I understand the limited custom takes only 15 rounds of 40S&W and yet I thought these were basically the same pistol if we exclude the extreme parts and branding? At any rate, what I was getting too is I would like to make sure I have the correct base pad/springs and followers to maximize the capacity of the xtreme version for IPSC standard (so fits in the box). What base pads /springs and followers would the fine people here recommend?
  7. That's correct regarding the epoxy paint. If your in the USA it's readily available and it is here in NZ. The paint dries quickly so as you say it takes about an hour or two before applying the next coat but the important point is that applying the coat takes only minutes and the pot of mixed previously prepared paint will last a whole day if kept cool before setting. So you can mix enough for the entire 5000 projectiles with three coats without having to revisit that task. You can also use fan heaters to blow hot air over the projectiles which quarters the dry time. Also a mesh system with no board beneath allows one to blow hot air up and through the mesh and fully about the projectiles which speeds things further.
  8. That's a whole bunch of shooting right there. Wiederladers method would take forever as he stacks his projectiles after each coat - I just tip them out and spread em apart. I do maybe 5000 at a time (in batches of 1000). Total actual working time is about 15 minutes per coat, so figure about 45 minutes per 5000 projectiles coated three times. If I get my mini-mixer going it would be even faster as I just spin them up in that, add paint and then tip out and spread, hey presto The rest is drying time etc in which I do other tasks or reload etc.
  9. I looked at the powder coating option however it was far to slow for the kind of time frames I was hoping for. What I do is use Klass Kote epoxy paint infused with hexagonal boron nitride power along the lines of what the youtube German chap 'wiederladen' does. Essentially I mix about 5ml of each part for a total of 10ml per coat of a thousand projectiles (and about 1g of HBN powder). I drizzle the paint mix over the 1000 projectiles in a bucket or similar vessel and shake until evenly coated but before the paint starts to set and then tip out on a fine aluminum insect mesh stretched over MDF (about a 3x4 foot area). The paint is touch try in under a minute so the trick is to keep the projectiles moving over this 60 seconds. I use a small plastic tip from a silicone tube I had lying about. Then leave to sit for a few hours and do another coat. No need to stand the projectiles on their end etc such as for powder coating. Then I do another two coats. After the final coat I either leave to fully harden for a day or two or I scoop them up with a small shovel and put them on a tray in my toaster oven. The result is great, my barrel is clean (STI). Really great as its relatively low labour for the number of projectiles coated. And low cost.
  10. Ah ok - thanks. Yeah I prefer fixed sights myself where possible, nice a low profile as I've had a lot of adjustable types come loose over the years for reasons best known to themselves. I shoot about 15,000 rounds per year (cast, polymer coat my own projectiles to keep costs down) so sounds like I will need to keep an eye on this.
  11. Great, thanks for that. I'll compile I little list of spares to buy. Not that much by the sounds of it.
  12. Given I live in New Zealand. The manufacturers in Finland don't indicate they ship overseas and they haven't replied to my emails. USA resellers don't appears to ship overseas that I can find to date. Sure as hell no distributors for this holster in NZ. Anyone have success with direct sale from the manufacturers or getting one of these out of the USA? Thanks.
  13. I've placed an order for a Tanfoglio limited custom of the new xtreme line in 40. I'm new to these pistols and so likely unaware of what I may need to look out for by the way of spare parts requirement and or upgrade parts or any other gotchas. I've read of issues with peening firing pins and breaking sears, does anyone know if these sort of generic problems go across to the xtreme line or are likely too? Any advice on this matter appreciated.
  14. Yeah, I use the SJC frame weight and thumb rest kit on on G35 and the CR speed is the only holster I know of that will work. Effectively you mill away right up to the trigger guard support on the CR speed and no other holster is this short.
  15. I use the Glockstore Gen 4 tungsten recoil assembly in my G35. Good quality and nice and heavy. No issues so far after 4000 rounds. It's also sprung a little lighter than the stock assembly which suits me just fine.
  16. I coat my lead bullets with a two part epoxy paint infused with Hexagonal boron nitride powder. No leading in my G35 .
  17. So, is it the opinion that a G35 fitted with TTI ultimate sights and the TTI +3 base pads will fit in the IPSC standard box? The reason I ask is that I have the Arrendondo +3 bases and no way will the pistol go in the box using the TTI ultimate Glock sights. I presume the TTI basepads are shallower profile? I find that I can get the pistol in the box with the hiziv sights which are pretty low profile.
