  1. I got a set of the Rydon glasses with the impactx-2 photchromic clear to laser red (hdr) lenses. Have shot with them 2 times so far and absolutely love them.

Exact pair and lenses that I use. They really make the fiber optic pop, and the targets stand out.

  2. primer flow, then flat primers, then primers that look almost 50% bigger, hammered head stamp, small bulges at the base. Lots of Hosers run TiteGroup and 147s at those OALs. What's your charge weight? We just chron'd one of the guys who went from 1.13" to 1.1" to get more juice out his loads without adding powder, and it recorded about 80 fps faster with the shorter OAL so you know the pressure had to go up. If your'e running book loads from Hodgdon, I would doubt you are anywhere near over pressure.

Running 2.9 grains of Clays with 147gr coated Ibejiheads. I was running them at 1.110 OAL, but I now have my barrel reamed so I can run them longer. No issues so far, but I know I have to be careful with Clays.

  3. Not evidence but... there are widespread antidotal reports of OAL being a critical factor with some fast powders. Clays in .40 for example.

Is the first sign of too much pressure, flattened primers?

  4. I'm really aggressive with the Glock. I get a lot of .12 &.13 splits. I was too cocky thinkning that the da/sa would not bother me. I dislike the trigger so much I don't think I would train with it. Recoil control is not a problem for me with the glock.

I was looking for better 20yd accuracy and the CZ sure has it. It's not the guns fault. I just like the glock more than I thought I did. I have a training session with a few guys today and really want to shoot the glock.

I'm really fast and accurate up close. I fell like I drive the gun so fast because it's light. I guess plastic striker guns fit me better.

    Shadows are not slow:

  5. I get very good metering (+/- 0.1 grains from 10 drop measurements) from Clays now, after a few mods:

    • Dremel polished hopper bowl
    • Dremel grinded & polished powder funnel
    • Keep hopper at least 3/4 full
    • Use the Prairie Dog Perfect Powder baffle
    • Have my Dillon grounded via wire to an outlet ground
    • Use a small (10 gallon) aquarium air pump rubber-banded to the hopper
    • Use the Arredondo powder bar with Micrometer
  6. BBI and Acme like the .356, Blues are .355 and never got the accuracy like the .356.

I know I can order larger but not worth the effort with BBI and Acme giving cheap, accurate znd fast shipping bullets.

Same reason why I don't use Blue Bullets. I use Ibejiheads, and they offer all kids of colors, weights, bullet profiles etc. The 9mm is offered in .356 and .357

  7. How would you rate temperature sensitive with Hodgdon Clays, compared to other fast powders like TiteGroup & Bullseye?

    Temperature Sensitivity Ranking:

    1. The most stable velocity across temperatures compared to similar powders
    2. More stable velocity across temperatures than comparable powders
    3. Average velocity stability across temperatures
    4. Velocity fluctuates across temperatures more than comparable powders
    5. Reverse temperature sensitivity - velocity is higher when temperatures are lower

How much velocity increase should I expect going from 55* to 95*?

  8. I kept flicking the Shadow safety on during the draw, so I bought the Thin safeties and installed them. Problem went away, I couldn't ride the safety anymore, so I installed the SP01 safety on the left side only.

I think that one works great - not too big and not too small.

  9. Is practicing reloads with unloaded magazines in Safe Areas legal?

    The Rule Book says:
2.4.1 Competitors are permitted to use the Safety Areas for the activities stated below provided they remain within the boundaries of the Safety Area and the firearm is pointed in a safe direction. Violations are subject to match disqualification (see Rules 10.5.1 & 10.5.12).
2.4.1.3 Practice the insertion and removal of empty magazines and/or to cycle the action of a firearm.

In IDPA, it will get you DQ'd:
2.10.7 Reload practice within the Safe Area is not allowed. An empty magazine may be inserted into a firearm to test functionality or to drop the hammer on a firearm with a magazine disconnect, but reload practice is prohibited.
2.10.8 The violation of any of the cases above will result in Disqualification from the match.

  10. Zero 147 JHP, 4.0 grains of WSF, COAL 1.10, Federal primers

I used the same load for the 2015 West Coast IDPA Championship, except I used 3.3gr of TiteGroup. We had a Standards stage where we had to shoot a target at 25 yards with a no-shoot on it. It was 6 shots Limited. I was the only one in our Squad to -0 it, with all 6 of my hits in the circle. Zero JHPs are damn accurate!
