  1. I'm looking to configure a Shadow 2 for IDPA Carry Optics, which Magwell should I get?

    The magwell needs to:

    • Fit the IDPA box
    • Work with my magazines (Mec-Gar 17 round MGCZ7517AFC)
    • Work with my Basepads (Springer Precision SP0309-Blu, 0.99 oz)
    • Be light as possible (total weight needs to stay under 45oz with empty magazine)

Looks like there are a lot of options out there, and only some list the weight and base-pad compatibility.

    Anyone have intel on these?

  2. Thanks guys, I got this figured out. The new CGW sear changed the geometry and some fitting of the disco was needed. I didn't want to modify the Pre B disconnector, so I ordered the RRK from CGW.

It took me several passes with a Dremel and a diamond wheel point attachment, but it now resets reliably in SA.

I put the stock sear and disco back in to check the differences in pre-travel, reset distance etc. I thought I would be able to get the reset shorter by hand fitting the disco, but they are exactly the same. CZC does a great job with the Shadow Customs on short reset.  The only advantage I see with the RRK is the DA take-up can be minimized with the additional set screw in the trigger.

Here on the disco is where material needed to be removed:

    Check the usual suspects:

    -Trigger Overtravel Screw

    -Trigger Bar Spring

    Then, look at the disconnector.
    https://cajungunworks.com/disconnector-timing/

A better description of what is happening is the trigger is dead on SA after cycling the slide (testing reset). The trigger has full SA range of motion, but will not drop the hammer. If I then cock the cocked hammer again, I hear a click and the SA works again.

I spoke with David @ CGW, and he thinks it is the trigger bar support spring.  I followed the tutorial directions on the website, but the issue did not go away. I took the sear cage back out and the trigger bar seems to have plenty of upward spring pressure.

I just noticed that the SA trigger position is now right at the wall.  Before it had a few mm of pre-travel before you hit the wall.

I still think the new sear isn't playing well with the Pre B Short Reset Disconnector.

I’ve often heard that you should change both the hammer and the sear if you replace one or the other, depending on the round count. Check the hammer and the sear for wear or rounding.

Gun is basically new, with less than 300 rounds through it.

  5. I have a CZC SP01 Shadow Custom 91030, and I just installed a new Flat Safety set.  I replaced the sear with the Cajun Adjustable Sear to make fitting the new Safety easier.

    I re-assembled everything, and now:

    • DA functionality test good.
    • SA functionality test good.
    • New Safety functions correctly.
    • If I pin the trigger in DA, hammer will not stay back if I manually cock it again.
    • If I pin the trigger in SA, hammer will stay back - but will not fire again, and stays cocked.

    Is this a Disconnector issue?

I believe the Shadow Custom has the Drop in Pre B Short Reset Disconnector.  Do I need a different one?

    What else should I check?

Don't the CR Speed pouches have a finger cut out?    I don't think those are IDPA legal.

They are legal.  Only the outer face needs to be covered:

    8.6.2 Magazine Carriers
    A. Must be suitable for concealed carry and all day continuous wear
    B. Must be worn on an IDPA legal belt
    C. Must cover 2” of the magazine as measured from the top of the cartridge rim down the back flat of the
    magazine tube
    D. Must cover the entire outer face of the portion of the magazine inside the carrier. The outer face is the side
    away from the shooter’s body
    E. Must hold the magazine within 10° of vertical relative to the belt. (80° to 100° relative to the belt).
    F. Screws or knobs that extend past the outer face of the carrier are allowed if the adjustment screw(s) require a
tool to change tension, the screws protrude less than 0.125” from the outer face of the magazine carrier, and
they meet all other magazine carrier requirements. Additionally, all tension screws anywhere on a magazine
carrier must require a tool for tension adjustment.
    G. “Bullets out” magazine pouches are not allowed.
    H. Magazine carriers must be worn in a location on the belt so that the front edge of the carrier or magazine is
    behind the shooter’s hipbone.
    I. The same exact location for magazines, magazine pouches, and/or ammunition feeding devices in pockets must
be used for every stage in a single match, unless otherwise specified in a stage description.

  7. I recently purchased the Henning +5/6 Basepads and Grams Spring with Followers for my Mec-Gar 17-round mags.

Is there a trick to keeping the mag extension locking pin / retaining pin in place?

The mag extensions kept coming loose and would not stay locked in place, especially when loading with an Uplula. It was happening to all 3 mags (see pic).

  9. Dawson replied to these questions:

    1. Clean with 1st choice: acetone or lacquer thinner, 2nd choice alcohol, 3rd brake cleaner.
    2. When we include the thread locker in a kit, we include Loctite 242.
    3. 25 in/lbs
    4. Loctite 242
    5. Use the Trijicon recommendation.

  10. I'm installing an SRO onto my Staccato P DPO with a CHPWS plate. I bought a Fix-it-Sticks torque kit as well.

    1. Which is best for cleaning & prepping threads? Acetone? Alcohol? Brake Cleaner?
    2. Which thread-locker do you recommend for the plate screws? (Dawson says loctite red 262, CHPWS says VC-3)
    3. How much torque on the plate screws?
    4. Which threadlocker do you recommend on the optic screws?
    5. How much torque on the optic screws? (SRO manual says 15 inch-pounds)

    Thanks!
  11. Anyone know which of these magazines will still fit the IDPA box?
    1. Staccato 17 round (comes with gun)

    2. Staccato 20 round (comes with gun)

    3. Atlas 120mm Slide Lock Magazine

    4. MBX Defender for 2011

    5. MBX 120mm Slide Lock Magazine (basepad angled? not angled?)

That's nowhere near enough thread engagement with the slide.  Good luck.

    Good luck? OK Mister condescending...

Please tell us how "that's nowhere near enough thread engagement with the slide" when the SRO thread doesn't screw into the slide, it screws into the plate. The RDS plate has separate screws for the slide. The SRO screws I am using are just touching the slide, having enough thread to go all the way through the plate.

So I had a chance to really look at the Gen 1 and Gen 2  Shadow 2 tonight at our match and wow there is way more meat on the Gen2...By the way the gen 2 weighed in at 46.7 with a dot...The 2 Gen 1's both weighed in under 45!....Just depends what shadow 2 you have if you are going to make weight or not in CO.

Do you mean Shadow 1 and Shadow 2?  Or are you saying there are Shadow 2 Gen1 and Gen2?
