Yes hand loads. Yes they do fire on second hit. Kind of annoying.

I had the same problem when I switched from a 550b to an XL650. I wasn’t seating the primers well enough. That’s probably the issue.

CZ magazines, like GLOCK-brand-GLOCK mags, are extremely reliable, plentiful and inexpensive.

    +1

My CZ mags (Mec-Gar) have run flawlessly for years. Super reliable.

If you are taking the time to brush out all your CZ mags after every stage, instead of taping - you are part of the problem. 😜

  3. Getting back into reloading 9mm with a new XL750.  I used to reload on a 550B and XL650 a few years ago, but sold them.

I ran these dies with good success, passing case gauge 99%+ of the time:

    • EGW Undersize Die
    • Lee Powder Thru Die, MBF Powder Funnel
    • Lee Bullet Seating Die, with custom bullet seating plug
    • Lee Factory Crimp Die

I've heard a lot of shooters like the Redding Competition Seating Die, but I can't see paying over $100 when the Lee Bullet Seating Die is $21 and you can get custom bullet seating plugs matched to your exact bullet profile for $8.

Unless you are changing bullet types often?  Can anyone sell me on the value of Redding?

Otherwise for my XL750, I think these will be my new dies:

    • Lee U-Die
    • Included Dillon Powder Die, SSI Alpha Dropper Powder Funnel
    • Lee Bullet Seating Die
    • Lee Taper Crimp Die

    Thoughts?

  4. For USPSA / IDPA - which Rear Sight Notch width & Front Sight width combo works best for you?

I was using Rear .125 and Front .095 for a long time on my Shadow.

    For "Competition" sight sets:
Sevigny Glock Rear .150 and Front .117

Vogel Glock Rear .150 and Front .117 (are these the same?)

Taran Glock Rear .125 and Front .115

    Dawson SP-01 Rear .135 and Front .100

USPSA Production division requires the hammer to be down at the start of the stage.  Cocked and locked or half cocked is not an option.

Many shooters have shot Production with a Shadow, including myself and have never been worried about dropping it from the time it takes to manually lower the hammer to taking the first shot.

Because it’s not drop safe anymore. At least much less drop safe than factory

Since this forum is based on competition shooting as opposed to CCW or home defense, that’s not much of a concern. If you are that worried about it, run it cocked & locked, or half cocked with the safety on. Or better yet, run a gun with a firing pin block like the SP-01.

@eerw Stuart, are there any thin basepads that you know of, that will work with the old 14-round magazines, and still fit the IDPA CCP box?

No serious competitor is "second striking" a round. We're running the slide and getting rid of it.

It's faster than racking the slide. High primers are occasionally a thing.

  9. 1. Has anyone done real testing on these? (Ransom Rest testing etc.)

    2. How much of a difference do they make? Example:

    groups @ 50 yards:

    stock barrel = 5 inches

    bushing barrel = 2 inches

    3. Is one better than the other?

I use a CZUB aluminum mag well/funnel on my long-slide.....

I use Mec-Gar mags, 10-rounders which are the same as the regular 17-rounders.  For baseplates, I use the Shockbottle aluminum ones.....

Any issues with over-insertion at slide lock?
