  1. I use a Safariland 567 which covers the gun great but I was really wanting to know if anyone else felt the same way. Or if anyone had an idea about something in between those.
  2. My father and I did it on our mill drill and it went fine. I mean I know that doesn't help but I am about to post pictures and the really really funny thing is its nearly identical to the style that was used in your pistol.
  3. Oh believe me I was never questioning the retention inability of a CR speed.I was just seeing if anyone else had the same concern is me ,and yes you are right I meant to say slide but I said frame however my gun does not have serrations near the front of the slide on your the back of the slide .
  4. I have just completed an open top end for my EAA Witness, and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts about running different holsters. Things like the CR speed ones where the pistol is held up and away from your body, those almost scare me. I am worried that durring some stage, especially ones like the TFD match the pistol might smack into things and the optic might break. I currently run a safariland something... Which is great!! I love how firmly it holds the pistol and how easy it is to draw from, but I used a compact slide so that when the comp. was on there the OAL wouldn't be all that much longer. But with the compact slide is a stronger recoil spring. Now that wouldnt be a big deal. But I am using a frame mounted optic and although I know there is no humanly possible way to make the mount more secure on the pistol I still dont like pulling on it to rack the slide. Simple answer right? Just get a slide racker, but the safariland holster holds the gun right on my hip so a slide racker on the left won't work. Any sugestions? or reviews on how your holster protected your open pistol?
  5. Make sure that your magazine pouches are not centered on your belt if you are about to go prone!!! That also hurts, quite a bit but maybe not as funny to onlookers as the bow one. P.S. Sorry that I am stringing them out I keep posting as I think of them.
  6. Attempt to flex a home made bow with the stick between your legs. You REALLY won't do that again!!!
  7. I just finished the conversion of my witness into an open gun (well I got the optima mounted on the frame, but not a comp finished I do have a chunk of titanium I was going to make into a rifle comp. But since I have it ready I might as well make it a pistol comp) Either way I have decided that if I'm going to do open I might as well go all the way.So does anyone know if it is possible to obtain 170mm magazines for the 9mm large frame witness. Although I have been able to get 21+1 into a factory 17 round through a baseplate I built, a new follower ,and a different spring. It does seem that it would be nice to be able to purchase a magazine considering that It cost me nearly $75 to get one built. Which isnt all that terrible STI mags are about the same for a 140mm. But if any of you know where or how i could get one I would really appreciate it! Thanks, Will
  8. PFT. No need to hide the checbook. Only hide the reciepts from the significant other! XD
  9. Also stand undreneath a dried chilli ristra string and hit it to see what will happen. It burst and guess what happened?... I was blind for awhile after that one too.
  10. Oh, another one I will never do again. attempt to stop for a car who isnt paying attention to my friend and I riding bicycles around town. Especially when your bike only has a working front break, I came out pretty sore but OK. My friend on the other hand tried to bring his bike to a sudden stop by turning his bike around flipped the bike and wasnt able to tuck and roll as I had been able to. From where I was mid-flip I saw and heard his wrist break. After an ER visit we learned 2 things. 1: My friend does not have good landing ability ( he broke both the radius and the ulna in his left had and sprained the right wrist). 2: Next time we both agreed we will just hit the car and have him pay for the medical bills since he was backing out of our drive way while he was attempting to light his cigarette. Oh and after my friend had crashed and I had helped him out of the road and he is swearing extremely loudly about how much it hurt. The guy stopped rolled down his window and said "hey you kids alright?" (drag on cigarette). Friend (in extremely sarcastic tone) "oh yeah we are just peachy". Creepy old dude in car (blows smoke out), "ok then"... (rolls up window and drives off).
  11. I will not keep adding piles of black powder to my roman candle lift mixture, only to find out that. Yes. It was all still there but it just slipped under the corn cob media I was using, and yes it did ignite after I poured enough powder on top Good thing I was wearing glasses for that one. However I was blind for a while after that and did have to check for eyebrows.
  12. We have 2 safes and keep both full there is one about 400 and one about 300 I think they are both heavier but I'm guessing on the lgihter side of things. Either way we moved into a new house with a set of rather steep steps up to the next floor. My dad and I got into the house with the safes by pushing a dolly with the safes up the 5 steps into the house and both agreed NO WAY was this going to work. (It is an older house with 12 foot ceilings and very steep stairs about 19 of them). So we decided that maybe we would try I was pushing from the bottom and my dad was pulling the dolly we got up exactly 1 step nope no way is it going to work that way. Well the master bedroom is up- stairs and with 30+ guns to move we cant just keep the safes downstairs... What are we to do? Oh well not a problem is it, I mean we have a few 2x4s and a winch. Ok EASY. It turned out that it really was after about 2 hours of trying to horse the safes up the stairs we discovered that if we braced the winch against the top of the stairs with 2X4s and then put 2x4s down like runners and just winch it right up. Actually yeah it was as simple as that after we got it figured out it took like 30 minutes, And we only left like one mark on the house!! So a quick trip with the dolly to the nook in the master bedroom that seems like it was built for the safes side by side.
  13. Ok guys thanks for the reviews I think I am going to buy one.
  14. I am a 3-gunner always shot open on account of my saiga.IDPA is just boring to me never enough rounds, never enough rounds in the gun. And WAY to tactical for me. One instance I remember nearly getting an ftdr penalty for was clearing a room I just jumped out there and shot all of tge guys in under 5 seconds. While other people were very carefully clearing the room in 30. So me personally I don't enjoy IDPA as an open shooter.
  15. Has anyone used the White Oaks SDR barrel in .223? I am looking at building a long range AR and am thinking of using the White oaks SDR barrel? But I want to know if any of you have used them and what you think of them
  16. Although I've never been DQ'ed for breaking the 180 I have been DQ'ed for launching one over the impact berm. I had a dead trigger and in my attempts to figure out what was wrong it went live and went BANG! I was DQ'ed in front of my own father. Embarrasing? Oh yeah! but I know that those things happen and its all in the name of the sport. Overcoming it is just part of it I know it sucks but... Life is hard get a helmet, and remember take things head on.
  17. Is it possible to be on the beta testers list? I have followed this thread for a while and MAN am I interested. But I dont have an extra $500 right now. so you know...
  18. Man good lookin gun! Wish I had the extra dough to buy one. But sadly that is not on the top of my list on what to spend $1000 on.
  19. I have found that the more I shoot the more it happens the better my reactions are. It seems that what was once impossible (things like seeing myself drop them but not catching them) are now easy. mind you just like in shooting I fumble sometimes but I am getting better. Anyone else do the same thing you catch yourself tense awaiting the buzzer to sound. Or you find yourself airgunning in completely ordinary senarios but you see them as potential stages. Anyone else?
  20. I bought my first witness a few years ago, and MAN is it a GREAT gun!!! It runs smooth. Recently i go tthe notion to convert it into an open gun. So i bought a new slide and barrel, I am in the In the process of converting it. I hope to have it ready in a few weeks. If you would like to see pctures I can email them to you just shoot me a PM over the board messaging and I can get them over too you. Either way i have used both TZ and Witness and for my money the witness just has a better design.
  21. Well a few months ago I was attending the monthly pistol match at my local range, ( I had been shooting these matches for a little over a year now but had just installed a new trigger in my witness). I had been shooting the double action single action that came installed on the gun direct from the factory. I went out a little early to help set up as always but this time I invited a friend to come watch. The match looked exceedingly fun from the set up a few quick up close hose'em stages, and a standards whitch I wasnt too thrilled about but you know... Anyway I was all loaded up and pumped to try out my new trigger!!! I got to the first stage (the standards) and was up 3rd. I must admit the first 2 shot pretty good. But i was confident in dry fire practice my trigger ran smooth as butter. Anyway i got up to the line heard the Beep and was off!! I had a wickid fast draw and started shooting BANG! BANG! BANG! click... I tried pulling it again and it went BANG! so i continued shooting. I got to the next string and the same thing happened only this time it didn't go bang when i pulled the trigger. However while messing it, the barrel went above the imact berm. Well while messing with it the trigger went live again and sure enough it went BANG the next time I tried to pull it. With the bullet whizzing right over the impact berm. Oddly enough no one called STOP. So I kept right on shooting although with that knowledge I was shaky. It was going as well as it could until it happend again, and this time I heard the distinctive STOP command. Imediately I stopped, and was asked if I knew why I had been stopped. I replied yes and he said im sorry but imgoing to have to DQ you. I said "ok". and packed up. Ashamed that that had chose to happen with a friend there but nonetheless it turned out all right i learned not to do that anymore. Also as it turns out the pre-travel screw was just a bit to tight so that the trigger wasn't comming far enough forward to catch. So while fiddling with it i was pushing the trigger back into the reset position.
