  1. Chris, Josh called me said he found a beautiful, pristine 625-8 at a Pawn Shop in Topeka. Call/pm one of us if you would like to quit fooling around and get a good .45! You can use GAP brass and regular moon clips, solves the primer change issue, and I believe you will be happier in the long run. As much as I like simplicity, it just never seems to be quite right when I try to combine loads/guns/calibers. It's just best to get a good solid load for each and keep with them. You have to get ready for next years Memphis Match, it was "the best, Chris, the best!" Dave
  2. Mike's work is like a Good Truck, it will go fast and is super reliable! Once done pretty much leave it alone and just shoot. Randy's work, the super light jobs, are like a fancy foreign sports car, it will go fast but takes a bit getting used to. Can be finicky as the gun wears and tolerances change. I could never get used to the sub 5# pull and ended up hmmm, "Modifying" Randys fine work. You know I didn't think there were that many Revo shooters, but there must be according to Apex's turnaround times. Both are good guys and are worthy of your business.
  3. Thanks to all of those who attended the Friday Night Corkys Dinner. The great guys/gals there donated $100 to St. Judes. I could've sworn Sam was misty eyed when I handed him the cash. We had an actual count of 47 people at the dinner. It was great to put some faces to names and thanks to wlktheduck, and she who must be obeyed, for the name tags. Dave Williams
  4. Sam did a GREAT JOB! His Crew stepped up and MSSA is a great club full of good people. Many thanks to the traveling RO's, most came from out of state it looked like. Without quality people this sport just wouldn't be. And now it looks like the Revo Division has caught a second wind. Even if you don't normally shoot Revolvers this is one match to put on the list of Go To Matches. Dave Williams PS Thanks to all of those who attended the Friday Night Corkys Dinner. Corkys dropped their fee from $100 to $50 and the great guys/gals there donated $100 to St. Judes. I could've sworn Sam was misty eyed when I handed him the cash.
  5. The wife and I are going to be there. Do we pay you or will they give us individual checks? So looking forward to this. Great BBQ and then great shooting. You will need to pay for the meal as you leave. Dave
  6. Let's see I've got: Moon Caddies, Bug Spray, Poncho, Gun, Ammo (OH I've got to load some!), holster, gear, Corkys is set, Car set, route set what am I forgetting??? Practice, and now it's too late Oh well should be fun! Dave
  7. Ok Guys my Internet will be the slooooow dial up at home, so I won't be checking it much after 2pm Central today, Wednesday. We're on for Corkys at 7pm, they dropped the reservation rates for us to $50. and I told them set up for 35 and they can easily handle more. So if anybody else wants to show up, bring 'em. The prices won't change no matter what, Corkys will just have to cook up more food! If anyone has any questions or last minute cancellations drop me a line tonight. I'll be hittin' the road Friday am. Dave
  8. There are 3 basic, often used scoring systems in USPSA (Memphis Revo Match). Comstock: Which has NO LIMITS on the rounds fired at anything. It will list the Rounds Scored per target (not having them will result in a penalty) and Steel must fall, or be knocked off the prop i.e. the Polish Plate Rack, to score as 1 hit (no matter how many you fired to knock it down). Leaving a plate up will also incur a penalty. Virginia Count: Which LIMITS the rounds fired at any target, it can be any specified number such as 5 on a target in one stage at Memphis. Not having the required rounds will result in a penalty. Having too many hits on the target and the firing of extra rounds will always gain a penalty in this system. You won't see any steel on a Virginia Count Stage anymore. Fixed Time: As stated you have a fixed time to engage targets with a specified number of rounds per target. Since Memphis doesn't have any fixed time stages I won't go further. I'd recommend you go to www.uspsa.org (the USPSA website) and go to Match Rules and download the 2008 Edition of the Rulebook and read it twice cover to cover.
  9. I have one of the PC 625's and a buddy had a JM 625, neither is worth the extra $$$. The JM 625 wouldn't even drop fired cases as the bores were still rough! Now if they would come out with a newer version, say a CW 625, but it'd probably have to be made out of Aluminum to match Cliff Walsh's penchant for the Silver Bullets!
  10. Not so fast, cliffy. Rich Wolfe and I are flying over with John as back up. I might not be much help, but Rich is a GM. PSKYS, can you add two more to Corky's? Sure, I just confirmed the spot for 35 (we had 37) so now it's 39. They can handle extras.
  11. I have a buddy who has a real nice S&W N Frame in .45 Colt, not ACP, and he had it cut for moonclips and now uses moonclipped .45 acp's in his .45 Colt with no problems. I'd love to have it! I have a M29 I moonclipped and use 44 Russians in it and it runs great, just hard to find RN bullets (and NO Jacketed RN!) for it and the Moonclips are a bit more expensive and fragile. But the big thing is to get something and get started. Ask around your local club, join an IPSC or ICORE Club and see if someone won't loan you there's for a bit. You might be surprised.
  12. Will there be lunch available at the Range?

    Front Sight

Yes, it will shoot lower. I seem to remember that it's about 3-4" lower. Almost a necissity if you change from a factory rear sight though, as a .250 always seems to shoot high, even when bottomed out, with Millets. Of course firmness of hold/stance/eyes can also have an effect.
  14. 'Oy Mate, hav a shrimp on the barbie! Happy Birthday Mark, you going to make Memphis? Dave
  15. Our new National Champion Mr. Walsh started out with his Moon Clips held in 2 cartridge loop holes of an old Cartridge Belt. If you're going to be at the Memphis Match just ask, someone will lend you some. You might even call Sam, seems he had some trick stuff by Austin that were to be loaned out. And if you're close to Memphis it might be an idea to borrow them and practive a bit. Dave
  16. For Re-Mooning the clips with a .45 I like the CCW Remooner, it will do 2 at once and sure saves a lot of wear on the hands. I also have a TK (I think) thats like a pair of pliers that I carry in my bag, just in case. For De-Mooning I like the CCW Super De-Mooner, again it's quick and less tiresome. I keep one of those that have a hollow tube with a notch in it in my bag, just in case.
  17. Not really. 1) Make sure the cylinder notches are clean of gunk and not burred. 2) With Revo empty, put pressure on the cylinder as you pull the trigger DA. After the hammer falls relaease the trigger and see if you can rotate the cylinder CW. If it does you have a timing issue. If it doesn't you're probably OK. Do this on each Chamber. If it's new and it fails at all I'd send it back to S&W.

  19. Come on Hop, Brad already said he was dragging you down. Surely you can stop and grab a Rib or two between 7pm and 10pm.
  20. Do you have Steve and I in that count? We'll be there. Thanks, Sue You are now! I've reconciled with the other thread where we talked about this and it's now at 33 and counting! And just had my orders from our National Revolver Champ and it's unlimited Draft Bud Light, for those who need more relaxing things to drink.
