  1. Mark I have not seen the threads you are talking about, but I will look for them. The match was a GREAT success. The people were GREAT, the stages were GREAT, the RO'S were GREAT, but their was something missing. I think it helps a shooter to relax more and concentrate on his/her game if they can see the stage before they shoot it. I don't know about the other shooters, but I need more than 5 min to see a stage with 14 IPSC & 2 steel targets that need to be shot from 13 different positions while trippppping over 11 other shooters at the same time that I'm trying to work it out. Maybe I'm just slow like that, but thats me. I had 2 FTE's one on 5 and one on 6 because of this. They were great stages and it's a shame I did not enjoy them because of this. I had a new shooter with me and he helped me RO friday (Star Struck). He has only shot 2 matches and not yet a member of USPSA and did not shoot the match. Even he said that their wasn't enough time to look over some of the stages. In fact he brought it up. I know some people my say they could not get there in time to see the stages before the match starts and some will say tough luck and the debate goes on and on. The truth is I didn't enjoy this one as much as the other 11 major matches I've shot and I don't think I will shoot another closed range major match with that many shooters on one squad. Like you I hope that the Area 6 2005 is not remembered for the ONE fault it had, but I do hope future major matches learn from this mistake and I hope I don't catch #*!! this weekend when I go back to SRGC (for our monthly match) for posting this. SRGC DID PUT ON A GOOD SHOW. Make no mistake about it. You can please some of the shooters some of the time, but you can't please all of the shooters all of the time. PS. I never did find the shoot off. Oh well you guys had your hands full. Like I said, I'll be there is weekend.
  2. How about that they did name a stage after me. Cindy I'm going tomorrow to pick up the brownie mix. Sorry I didn't make it this weekend to help set up, but I'm going to try to make it thursday morning. I know promises, promises, promises, the brownies will make it there I just hope I will too. GOT MILK
  3. George Lets see if I have this right. Two separate classifiers one rifle and one shootgun, both shot on the same match. Paired together in a book of classifiers. Tobe shot separate as seprate classifiers then put together for a multi gun classifier. Might work. Still not a fan of multi gun. Ronnie A44415 Still praying for that A
  4. That sounds like a good way to set it up. So if you have a oops you can get back in the fun.
  5. I'm not sure who GAPEACH is, but it sounds like I owe you some brownies Too. Thanks Ronnie A-44415 Still praying for that A
  6. I hope I'm not repeating something someone else has already said. I don't see the problem with 3 gun matches or the scoring of them. I don't do the scoring so maybe I shoud leave it alone, but I see the scores done by the scoring gods every 3 months. I don't see a problem with long gun classes and shotgun classes to keep us on the same track as pistol. No more than one class below your highest. Their will always be SANDBAGERS untill our wonderful president starts doing something about it, but that don't matter to him because he's at the top, and to busy shooting to call us peons back. Multi gun? I shot a muti gun match this passed weekend and watched a shooter draw his pistol with dowel rods sticking up all under and around the grip. SAFE?? I have a 38 waist and the thought of a pistol, 4 mags, 2 rifle mags, 20 or so shotgun shells or 6 speed loaders on it just makes me want to stay home. The match was fun, but it was shooting. All shooting is fun. The time it takes us to set up 2 or 3 guns for a stage then clear them is just to long. It took so long to clear and call out RANGE IS SAFE that we had three shooters on two stages walk behind the targets down range of us before we could clear them. SAFE?? I drive 2 hours to two ranges and 1 hour to two other ranges one way, buy the time I get home it's late enough with out all of that. Another thing is I don't see what is practical about shooting 300 to 750 yards, give me a break. 100 yards is just fine for a long shot. Making the new shooters spend more money on more accurate rifles and high dollar scopes just don't sound right to me. How's that Charles? Theirs more were that came from. See you at the Area 6 match. I'll probably be the only one standing at what should be the shoot off range. Ronnie A-44415 Still Praying for that A (and a shoot off) HELP!!!!!!
  7. Jamie It's not a pay off, that's another deal $$$$ I'm just trying to get some suport for one. For some reason or an other I don't think SRGC cares to much for them. I've had more fun shooting and getting beat on the shoot off's than shooting the matches, and they are fun to watch after I get beat. Ronnie A-44415 PS. I guess this means I owe you some brownies.
  8. Ok guys lets face it. Most guys are to scared to try this for many reasons, but their are some that might try it if we help them see the light. What is the light that we see that they can't see? We know that you don't have to be a great shooter and have $3,000 to spend on "stuff" to play this game, and 8 out of 10 shooters will do all that they can to help them get started and maybe someday help them to beat them. Also most of the shooters I know go to the matches to shoot, but most of all to see the friends they made while shooting. So here's the deal. The next time you see someone at a match that don't have a gun straped on, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND TALK TO THEM. Tell them about the people, the friends you've made while shooting, how many miles you travel to see them each weekend, how helpful they are (to you and new shooters), Let them know about the classes GM-D and UNCLASSIFIED and that they could win unclassified on the first match. Then tell them about production, $600 for all the gear they need, or maybe they have something that will work. Then show them a target and let them know that they don't have to be able to shoot a flea off of a rats a$$ at 100yards to do this. Then last and most important make sure you give them your name # and e-mail so they will fill like they have a friend already to help them get started. No this is not anything new, but the stop what you are doing is. I do stop and talk to them, but I know we all have missed that guy standing in the back watching us have a great time. That's the guy I'm talking about. I make it a point to talk to them. I talked to one guy for ten min, then found out he owned the place. He saw what I was trying to do and let me keep going on and on. HA HA HA The point again is I don't see enough shooters doing this. If that guy had four people from each squad talk to him, chances are he would come back with a gun, gear and a buddy. We will never be politically correct and have Nike and Wal-mart for sponsors and I don't like the sound of real IPSC, we are getting some good media coverage, so lets take advantage of it and get that guy shooting. We have 14,545 members. If just one out of 10 shooters got that new guy shooting that would be 1,454 1/2 shooters and their buddys. How fast do you what this sport to grow? (Port a potys)? 1/2 a shooter? Sounds like me. Think about it. Ronnie a-44415 Still praying for that A PS. USPSA Shooters are scared too. They don't want to shoot the shoot off's. See Area 6 2005
  9. OK Jamie put in to shoot the shoot off and I'll bring the brownies. Still Praying for that SHOOT OFF Ronnie
  10. Anyone want to shoot or see a shoot off by classes, maybe $20 pr shooter? (I DO) If so post it here or send Cindy or Bill Noyes an E-Mail. Without suport it my not happen. Hi shooters we need your input. (HELP) Ronnie
  11. I thought John could RO the shoot off while I shot it, at least one time before I got put out. OH thats right, John just wants me to RO so I wont be able to shoot against him. Or was that the other way around? We my never know. Ronnie Still Praying for that A Now I'm praying for that steal

  13. Hopalong I haven't checked this page in a while, sorry I missed your posting. I like a good challenge, and can take a good whoppin as good as the next guy. If you don't beleave me, ask Carlos. He does it regularly. Come on down and give some or get some. It don't matter, we'll all have fun. Find an open gun (preferably one that don't run) and have a go at it. Hope to see you there. 14. It took about 5min for him to see what was wrong with my gun. I left him there and made the repairs, 30min later he was still there waiting for me. He sighted in the gun, then we had our little talk. Pure luck, YES. I was at the right place at the right time. I don't think they go around looking for someone to help all the time, I think they are just willing to give help when needed (if they have the time). I would not have asked them for help because if everyone did they wouldn't be able to enjoy the match. I guess some of the BIG DAWGS are just as good hearted as the LITTLE DAWGS I shoot with every weekend. Everyone at the match seemed to have the same thing in mind. HAVE A GOOD TIME. If you get the chance next year go to the match. As the years go by the memory of the stages will fade but, the memory of the people wont. Ronnie A-44415 Still praying for that A
  15. Trophy, Random prize drawing. The only way to go. If you want to win money, play the lottery. If you want to earn something, work hard at shooting and earn a trophy. I have a job so don't need the money. Ronnie A-44415 Still Praying for that A
  16. Great comeback. I only talked to him for about 45min, so I didn't know that but, the offer still stands. Maybe I can teach him something.??????????? Ronnie A-44415 Still Praying for that A
  17. I just got around to looking at this forum. I know the FL Open is history now and may be old news to some of you but, I'm still smiling. I've only shot 8 other major matches and the worst one was great but, I've never shot one with the feeling that if I was DQ'ed on the first shot I'ed still be THE WINNER. I bought a new C-more at Brazos table. I've never noticed the "Clicker" model. They had it at a low low price. I thought it was such a low price that it may not be as good as the old style. (DUH) After about 20 min, I bought it and found out the next day that they had priced it wrong. (REALLY WRONG) I tryed to pay the difference but they wouldn't have it. How's that for Honesty, Integrity and just down right standing behind your word. I can't say enough about "Brazos Custom Gunworks". Back to friday. I know better but, I just couldn't stand it anymore, I had to put the new C-more on. While at the safe area changing my sights, a gentleman asked if I needed any help. I turned to find Matt Burkett standing there offering his time and knowledge to someone he didn't know. I didn't need the help and thanked him for the offer and let him know that I had all of his DVD's and the three books that came with them. I thought that was great, big dog offering to help ME. (COOL) Then I went to the plate rack to sight in my new C-more. While sighting it in a gentleman asked if I needed any help, he said he's had alittle experience with C-more's. Ha Ha Ha I turned to find Todd Jarrett standing there. Well I wasn't going to pass up this kind of help again, so I almost hit him with the gun as I handed it to him so quickly. I learned more about shooting IPSC and open guns talking with him for that 45min, than I have learned in the past 3 years. I can't wait untill I can take one of his classes. Then looking at the stages and talking to some of the shooters, RO's, Frank and venders it just didn't mater how or if I shoot the match anymore. I had already gotten my moneys worth. Thats not counting the money I saved at Brasos table and the great deal I got from Henry Avant on my new C-more mount at the "Saw Custom" table. The only regret I have about this match and the 1,000.00 + dollars I spent on it, is that I didn't do it in 04,03,02 and 2001 when I first started shooting. By the way I placed 9th in B open and proud of it. Maybe I'll place 1st in A open next year using what I learned from my new friend Todd Jarrett. Thanks again Todd if you ever need any help with your heating & air let me know. Ronnie Shores A-44415 Still Praying for that A
  18. Hopalong If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. No Gamers, No sand in my bags or shoes. You will miss a great match if you don't go. Bring a cooler and have some fun. Still praying for that A.
  19. redmercury2 I didn't think about the short guns. That dose sound right, to cut off some of the spring on those. I'm still running a long gun, SVI in 38 super. Old school, but it runs like a sewing machine just louder and a whole lot more fun. I know most guys are going to the shortys in 9mm, but I just cann't give up my SVI 38 super. Sorry that sounded like a commercial, but I'm in love with it. Maybe I'll get one by SVI if they make'em. Ronnie S. Still praying for that A
  20. nhglyn I worked out my load for 38 super, then got 7-14# springs and just changed them untill I got to a low recoil point. I use a shock buffer so I could tell if it was to light. The heavier the spring the more recoil I felt. The lighter the spring the more it would hit the shock buff. When I got close (with in 3#) I couldn't tell much difference. Then I tryed double taps at ten yards, 5 sets with each spring and found 8#s is the magic # for me. If you see this try it and let me know how it turns out. I don't know if this is the right way of doing this, it's all I new to do, and it worked for me. Ronnie S Still praying for that A
  21. Jon I'm B open and shot it in 7.23 with 76 for a 10.5118 hf and got a 82.5244%, and almost got a A card for my trouble. I'm looking for an A card so that would be ok, but I don't think I'm an A shooter yet. I don't think alot of GM shooters have shot this one yet to get the hit factor high enough to be accurate. Oh well A class here I come (sooner or later). Don't worry A class, I'm not a threat, I'm just getting lucky. I still pray for an A. Hit that is, as soon as I find that DOT I'll get'em. Good shooting Jon. Good luck in A class.
