  1. LOL. PV facebook is the only Facebook page I visit. It's actually what kasper had posted. It's just where PV gives their "head's up" on arriving products.
  2. It's probably PM. Just my luck as I work 7a-7p tomorrow (Eastern time). We'll see... here's the link to their facebook page: PV Thanks kasper.
  3. I use 3.9 grs Unique for my 147 gr LFP's in my Glock 17 & 19 with great results. (Lone Wolf barrels). I have load data for using VV N320 and Alliant American Select...but due to my work schedule and match schedule I probably won't be able to get those tweaked out until sometime in June.
  4. I currently have backorders with: Graf's and Brownell's/Sinclair. I believe you can also backorder from MidSouth Shooters Supply. Other than the above, it's kinda hit and miss. Occasionally some will show up online...but they sell out FAST. I also keep an eye on Powder Valley. Good Luck.
  5. I think this is a sensible, and realistic goal. Face it, if stored properly, the shelf life is nearly infinite for all intents and purposes. Our U.S. dollar continues to devalue. Even though the demand for ammo and components has fluctuated somewhat over the past couple of decades, the cost has certainly steadily risen. And components are still available at pre-Newton pricing, just more difficult to locate and they sell out fast. For example: I just picked up 16 pounds of powder (Unique and W231) for $17.00/pound including the Hazmat fee...so it is currently "doable"...just challenging.
  6. I used thousands of Wolf primers with excellent results. I'm on my first batch of 5000 Tula lead free primers (SPP) and they seem just as reliable thus far. These were the $20.00/1000 primers from all the way back last November. I think Steve is right...we may well not see that pricing again after the dust of this mess settles.
  7. OAL is 1.130" for the lead flat points I'm using. The feed in my Lone Wolf barrels reliably. I actually just received an e-mail from Ben Amonette at Alliant. His reply: "With American Select and a 147 gr lead bullet, I suggest starting with 2.9 grs and the max should be approx. 3.3 grs. " It's not a lot of wiggle room...but something to start working with. Any other experience or thoughts are welcomed. TIA
  8. Thanks folks. As best I can tell from my continued searching is a decent starting point is about 3.5 grains. I have some coming from Wideners the 1st of the week, so I'll work up some loads and see how it goes. Any input is always appreciated. http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=1264&dir=278|283|308
  9. Excellent info and advice. I'm certainly paying attention. I had similar issues with my 550B loading 147 gr lead for my Lone Wolf barreled Glocks. I tightened the taper crimp die a bit and it seemed to help with my reloads. Good luck.
  10. Alliant Unique gets my vote. I've used it for 95-147 gr bullets, jacketed and lead. Always with great results and precise metering through my Dillon 550B. It's pretty well case filling with standard loads.
  11. I believe Midway disabled their "notify me" option on quite a few products. I actually don't think it's a bad idea. You can still search the site and locate using the "in stock" option and will probably stand a better chance of actually purchasing what you are looking for. I've been doing business with Midway since the mid 1980's and have always found them to be a top notch organization, and like Powder Valley and Graf's, they haven't been involved in any price gouging at all. I've had plenty of the notifications from Midway and found the product gone within 4 minutes also. It's frustrating, but simply reflects the "interesting times" we find ourselves in. Just my ever devaluing and unsolicited $.02 worth.
  12. Hi Folks; I did a search and read over several threads. I did find one suggestion of 3.5 grains of American Select for the 147 gr lead bullet. I actually found some of powder available. I was pleasantly surprised. I have been using Alliant Unique 3.9 grs for my Lone Wolf barreled Glocks 19 and 17. I really like the recoil impulse generated with this load. But alas, my Unique stock is down to about 2 pounds. In my search here and over the interweb I've found folks discussing American Select for 9mm for several years. I've just never considered it. But as the shortage of powder and primers shows no signs of abating, I guess it's time start considering it. Do any of you have much experience with it? Any load suggestions and experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  13. Interesting. Have any of you guys shot them out a Lone Wolf barrel? I just changed over my Glock 17 and 19 to LW barrels recently. TIA
  14. They are scarce in my AO as well. And you pretty much have to be online, signed on, and ready to order when primers post on Midway, at Graf's or Powder Valley (ALL Good folks, imho) as they only last a few minutes. I was able to order, and receive, 5000 Federal SSP from Midway last month. Hopefully, as mentioned, backorders are filling and primers will last a bit longer. But...we'll see.
  15. I've also had great luck using 3.9 grains of Unique behind a 17 gr bullet (lead). But I'm down to my last couple of pounds of Unique and starting to get a little tense. Since I've used Unique for over 25 years I've been negligent in trying out other powders. I guess it's time for that to change... Thanks for the excellent suggestions in this thread folks.
  16. I'll try and look up my old load data for the 95 gr jacketed bullets and post it. Back in the 90's I sold the .380 I had and found myself with about 700 jacketed .380 bullets. They worked great in my Glock 19 and 26. IIRC their used to be (and may still be) commercial ammo for 9mm in the 95 grain range.
  17. I went through 5000 Wolf Magnum Small pistol primers last year with exceptional results. I initially reduced my loads by 10%, but eventually worked back up to my standard small pistol primer loading with no signs of over pressure and great accuracy. I actually prefer the Wolf Mags now and only wish I had picked up another couple of 5-10 thousand before this current madness. LOL.
  18. Knoxville actually. I'm Jamie. I'm an old curmudgeon and I've been a shooter and reloader for about 30 years now. I've carried (daily) for 25 years, and developed a taste for 9mm Glocks about 1995. I use a Dillon 550B I picked up around 1989...they just don't build better machines than those suckers. I work every other weekend (RN in an Emergency Room) so it challenges my ability to be off on our local Match weekends, but I've started shooting IDPA again after a long hiatus. My Buddy, Craig N. recommended this site and I am happy I took his advice. I'm looking forward to learning from the folks here. As a historical note of reference, I saw Brian Enos and a bunch of other very talented folks shoot at the 1987 Bianchi Cup. It was the first shooting event I ever attended (just a lowly spectator)...but it sure impressed the heck out of me. Needless to say....I was "hooked".
  19. Another newbie here, and like the gentleman said...same stuff. I've been using Unique for better than 25 years for .38 spl, 9mm, and 5 acp. I mostly shoot 9mm 147 gr lead using Unique these days. Love the stuff. I am still using IMR 3031 in the tin can dated 1991 for my .30-30 and it works like it just came from the factory. But I have stored it in a dry and climate controlled environment for the most part. The Alliant website has some solid load data. I've noticed there's some pretty solid load data here as well.
