  1. Maytag, thank you again for a great match! I think it boils down to stage design and or penalty for a targets not hit. I totally understand the reasons for the rule. I hated watching a couple shooters with short attention spans get hammered by the rule! You guys were very clear in the morning shooters brief. I even listened and remembered!
  2. Great match, fun stages, great staff, smoothly run match. Amazing to see Terry's son win the rifle!!! I believe the TC scoring was not fair on steel... Yes I hit them all but it was painful watching others go to war due to that rule! Starry has to get those berms higher signing a piece waiver will likely not excuse owner negligence!!!
  3. I am in!!! I cancelled arrangements for the other CC match and set up travel for this match! Nigtmare, I spoke with Hal on FB. I cant even load the match application with my bandwidth here. I can however promise to pay upon my arrival and if I dont make the match I would send a check. Look forward to shooting with you all!!!! Should be an FUN and interesting match. I have only shot once in 8 months.... Look I am already making excuses!
  4. Regrettably, I am withdrawing from this match. I am going to shoot another match that I know will meet my expectations. I wish everyone the best and I hope this match goes wonderfully!
  5. This is always a really fun and well ran match! I am going to try and make it this year. Hope to see you all there!
  6. So happy to see this match happening in Corpus Christi, some of the nicest people and best shooters in the country live there!!! I plan to fly in from Cuba for this match! By April it will be 11 months without pulling the trigger. Figure I better start making excuses now.... Sadly this means I will miss the Pirates of Texas Match for the first time and I wont get my free entry into Texas Multigun. Rick any chance of a refund if I cannot make it due to events completely out of my control?
  7. Also, practice on small steel targets they are quite humbling!
  8. Practice alot and shoot as many local matches as you can with the best squad there is at the match. Then shoot major matches and shoot with the best squad you can get on. Then practice some more!
  9. Prize table matters to me if i have to travel across the country. I wont go unless there is a decent prize table or just a great vacation spot for my family to also enjoy. I cannot justify spending $1000.00+ per major 5+ times a year. I would shoot locals only and maybe one major a year if it werent for the tables. I love shooting I shoot 3 days a week but I wouldnt spend $1000 to travel to BFE just to shoot a different stage design. Now with that said I plan to one day go to the World Shoot in Finland if Kurt Blesses me with his grace and that is a no table out of pocket match but certainly a great life experience! As long as I dont pull a Ty Gentry!
  10. I shot the house stage in 21 and shot it all wrong flat footed all the rifle and went to the right window with rifle then back tracked to dump bucket and drew pistol to engage 1 target. I zig zagged because my pistol ammo was crap and shot near to far flat footed rifle because I was shooting thru and not thinking straight. 15 is doable all day if shot correctly. I have only shot with Doug once and he sure seems like a stand up guy and he CAN shoot fast....! I plan on going back to this match to see if there are any new holes in the plane and see if I can avoid adding any new ones next year! Sure sad I missed out on one of those nice new 2011's.
  11. Stages were super fast and straightforward ROs were really nice and helpful traffic flowed well. I shot Sheldon's beloved plane and got dq'd was doing well up until that! Texas rocks still worth the trip! I heard rumors about the table but I ain't spreading any! Thanks for putting on the match and allowing me to shoot thru to the DQ! I will post a pic of my $1000 shotgun shot into the plane if I can figure out how!
  12. Stages look fun. Looking forward to getting there and trying to tear it up! It appears based on the descriptions i can leave the shotgun at home and go all pistol if I so chose. I bet that is not the case that is just how I read the descriptions. I also like it when forced to use shotgun and am required to reload since I practiced enough to be proficient!! See you all there!
  13. 260 with 142 SMK or 140 berger hybrids. I love my .260 it shoots great! A bit of a barrel burner but thats the price you pay for greatness!
  14. Great match great stage design excellent RO's. I must say they were very professional and nice. They even seemed happy! I had a blast and learned that 1911's extractor tension is very important I was sure my powder charges were off causing my pistol to short stroke. Nope it was lack of extractor tension. CHECK YOURS NOW if you haven't! Lesson learned! THANK YOU again for putting on a fun match! I loved the long range but why ORANGE targets! Colorblind people cant see those things especially stage 3 with no white backers!
  15. I think that has been up for awhile - I was hoping for an update since we are 3 weeks out. How about now since we're 10 days out now... Bring some stout bird shot... We talking Prairie Storm #6 shot stout? Never shot it, but that sure sounds stout.... I have never tested there max distance but I would bet they will knock down a target at 40 yards! Especially with a mod choke.
  16. I touched the inside of the barrel like 3 times on the right side where the extractor has sharpened the chamber. I put a slight 45 degree angle towards the inside of the barrel rather then the straight knife edge it had. Shot a bunch today and it worked great!
  17. Proper maintenance and a touch of dremel. No more jams! Thanks Kurt and Benny!
  18. I think this is a lack of proper maintenance issue. I have never cleaned the recoil spring housing! Maybe it needs that I am sure Kurt will enlighten me tomorrow when I pick his brain!
  19. I have come to the realization that I may be better at loading and shooting a shotgun really fast and missing then I am at hitting the targets! I will call you tomorrow or Thursday to ask lots more questions!!!!! I am working nightshift so my time is spent trolling the internet and reading stuff while the ER is empty. Oh and spending every dime I am making on bullets, compnents, lowers, 1911's and other guns via various internet shopping sites!
  20. My Benelli M2 is jamming every 150 rounds or so. The jams range from failures to eject slug rounds or failure to load birds all the way. I use a range of shells but primarily fiocchi low recoil slugs and estate 1 ounce 7.5 shot. The M2 has 5000+ rounds thru it but I dont know exactly how many I put that many thru it but I also bought it used. The shotugn has a lightened bolt, nordic follower and spring, and has been dremelled at the loading port other than that it is stock. Do these things get worn out? It jams with slugs and birds alike. I have not been able to find any reason for it to be jamming. I clean all of my weapons every 200 rounds. Any ideas?
  21. NExt to you facing you. So you can watch and disect your every right or wrong movement. Who cares about seeing the targets or anything else but your weapons manipulation and transitions to include you feet! Thats what I think if it is for pure training and imporvement purposes.
  22. I agree with you Stihead. My logic came from less gas going through the port means more is going out the barrel which I would think would increase the muzzle velocity slightly. Probably more evident in a carbine length gas system. Maybe not even noticable on either barrel using a chronograph due to the extreme spread of any given load. This is something that I would love to tinker with but I have to leave my rifle alone for now!
