  1. Standing reloads are definitely a tough one to come back from. It will be interesting to see if 8 shot technology will overcome 6 shot creativity/treachery;-) I'll most likely have both by February if possible.
  2. I am relatively new as well but so far my observation is that it has more to do with how the targets are displayed rather than total round count. Four target arrays or three with a plate aren't great with the six shooter but if I can load and move between 5 and six shot arrays then ill take major scoring. but like I said I'm new at this. Best of luck either way. BHill
  3. alecmc, Was it primarily the weight difference to mitigate recoil that prompted you to go with the 627 for USPSA or was there concern for the durability etc as well? I am actually considering a 327 for USPSA due to the lighter weight for quicker handling but I am new to the game and may be missing something obvious. BHill Bill, the weight primarily , but I also wanted my uspsa 8 shot minor gun to have a 6.5" barrel to match my 625 with 6.5" barrel. I've just grown to like the longer sight radius for USPSA and wanted the option to put one on without butchering up one of my 327 trr8 that I use for steel challenge. I've also reduced the weight even more of my 327s by putting in titanium cylinders. I have no issues with durability at all with the 327s, I've used them in USPSA with minor 38 short colt loads with no problems, and also plenty of " knockdown steel " competitions with the 128 PF loads. I've seen no issues with flame cutting into the scandium frame, but it does have a little insert above the forcing cone that protects it. I've also never shot any 357 magnum loads out of any of my 327s, and I do not plan too. These are competition guns and not self defense guns. I definitely understand that! Thanks for the information. I doubt that flame cutting would be an issue and I would be shooting minor loads with it as well.

  5. I wasn't lying about being excited. Shooting another on Saturday!
  6. Ok just finished. 4.52 for 5 shots from carry rig. Did have one Charlie but I'm not gonna reshoot it again for three months. Need to recuperate. I think my brain was resetting between shots. .72 splits. BHill Edit: Left out the load. Federal 158 hydro shocks (p357hs1)chrono at 1150s and distance of 7.5 yards.
  7. 45 Raven., I believe this is SELF regulating. They just had too small of a pistol. On another note I'm not to sure they could access the accuracy of a gun of any type. Gun was clearly more up to the task than the user. BHill
  8. As the title says I was lucky enough to celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday by shooting a match today. I had a blast and finished in the upper half overal along with coming in second on two stages due to some outside the box thinking that a revolver forces you to do. I shot Ironsides with a 3.7785HF. I think that is a high B for my first time out and I'm excited. Shot 120 Alphas and 7 Charlie's for the day. If any South East Texas shooters haven't been to the Cawthon Cartridge Club for a match they need to get out there as they have a great range and good stages. If any of this is incoherent I apologize, celebratory beers may be affecting judgement! BR BHill
  9. Ok just so you know I hate you for this;-) I will be shooting my 340 this week with full power 357 for my quarterly practice with it and I will shoot a Bill drill. Five shots only but that should suffice. It will take a week to get over as that thing hurts on both ends!
  10. I have no doubt that they are trying to make up for their inadequacies by picking someone of less strength and trying to make it a marksmanship thing. Over compensating tools for sure. Prayers for the victim and hope the tools realize what they have done and have tormented thoughts for a long time!
  11. I haven't started cropping on my stock hammers but I don't see me replacing my APEX hammer. First class work and worth the $.
  12. Thanks Ron, That's great advice. I am just having a blast with it at the moment. Finish a stage and it's hard to wipe the grin off! Good or bad it is just that much fun. BHill
  13. I am using 3.4 clays at 1.222 using 230 bayous and cci magnum primers in my 625pc. They average out at 172 PF. Only get 163PF out of two 1911s though so two different loads. BHill Edited to add: 625PC has 4.2" barrel and 1911s are standard 5"
  14. I shoot a revolver for the shear mechanical joy it presents. Additionally after shooting a revolver for just a little while those bottom feeders seem easy by comparison. BHill
  15. Quick update. I did massage the forward edge of the ramps with my cratex tips along with a very small area on the cylinder stop. Emphasis on very for the stop. Since reassembly I have shot one local IDPA and a hybrid match(USPSA match rained out) along with two practice sessions. Total round count in the neighborhood of 600 without any skipping. Fingers are crossed but it sticks in the back of my mind while prepping for a stage. Fortunately that leaves my mind along with everything else at the beep. Thanks again for all the information from everyone. BHill
  16. Congratulations. Very original and a great group of friends! Best wishes for your new adventure together.
  17. I will give you $50.00 and a big box of 9mm brass, just cause I need something to put on the wall for decoration. Pretty crappy old guns anyway. That seems really generous considering it would be absolutely beyond its expiration date. I would have had to CHARGE a disposal fee! For ammo of course.
  18. I always ask for the freshest guns and you should always check they're expiration dates.
  19. Thanks Buckaroo45, I guess we can't get something for nothing! It would be nice once in a while though.
  20. I appreciate the help from everyone as I stumble through my learning curve!
  21. Funny you should say that because after spending a good bit of time looking at it through a magnifying lens last night I see that the notch actually extends well past the stop while engaged so extending it more would have done nothing for me. Additionally the stop is only riding on that leading edge with very minimal clearance to the bottom of the ramp. I will get the heavier stop spring and possibly massage the forward ramp edge a bit as well. Thanks for the part number.
  22. I use 180s for both just a quick adjustment on the powder measure and back to making ammo. Super soft for minor and still very manageable at major.
  23. Mike I don't disagree. I was only thinking that the misalignment was accelerating the formation of the speed bump.
  24. Just shot these this morning. Bayou 180 with 4.6 WST at 1.155 out of a G35 and got 172 average with 168 being the low and 175 the high. Twenty round sample. That was at 68F. No obvious signs of pressure on cases or primers.
