  1. Like the title says: What is a custom gun? Is it a gun that is built to a customer’s specification or is it a really cool gun built the way a particular gun builder wants? I have had two open guns built recently that were deemed custom by the builder, but yet he totally disregarded my requests even down to the color. When confronted I was given the blow off and told I am difficult and that I received a discount, so I should take what I get. These were not cheap guns I'm into them in the vicinity of 9k, for me a large amount of money. No I don't believe custom means built to your exact specs. But what I do think it means is that the builder will discus what works for you, things like balance and size and work those custom features into those non-function critical areas. I also think he should give you the freedom to make changes to no critical areas, such as controls, safeties, slide racker, scope mount, sights, thumb rest, maybe even slide cuts, but most defiantly finish and color! My intent is not to bash or badmouth this builder, I like this guy and I like shooting his guns! My hope is that he will read this and grow into a custom builder instead of a cookie cutter design, all be it a cool cookie. Is this custom or am I just difficult?
  2. Thanks I'm going to take a look at these.
  3. I run an 11lb. with a shock buff.
  4. They were just grasping at straws trying to help me out, probably would not have got one but 9.10.1 does open a door for misuse.
  5. Never skip a fun target even if the math says to.
  6. I disagree, you can polity uphold the rules and DQ someone.
  7. Ever seen Tin Cup? Tire your right shoe in a double knot, put your keys in your left pocket and turn your hat around. You got the shanks. Your head is getting in the way.
  8. Again this is a very poor example of what to do... but hey I have a faster gun this year!
  9. First off let me say this is not what the OP was requesting and I personally prefer just to take a guy’s word for it, but to satisfy your curiosity for prof I will post this. This was a stage at the last Area 1 match. It was the stage that I blew the match on and frankly I would prefer to forget it, funny how the bad ones haunt you! I got a bad start, then tripped thru the door, so subconsciously I suppose I was trying to make up time and deviated from my plan, consequently I left steel standing (you can see it thru the window at the end). The four round bursts in the back of the house were on multiple targets two rounds each. I know these shots were .08 and better because some of the guys on the squad were trying to get me a reshoot for the timer not picking up all the shots, the scroll thru showed most of the numbers. I refused to ask for a reshoot though because I was so disappointed in my execution and overall performance on the stage and the match. This makes a good point though, while I shot many .10 shots or better in the match, I neither won this stage nor even came close to winning the match. Splits do not win matches unless you are Daniel son punching upward at the groin of your opponent.
  10. I will find some, if not I will make some.
  11. Practice 60-70 yard shots and 25 yard targets will become very large.
  12. Why doooon't we put longer triggers on open guns! I pull .08 often, but with my paint marker I can get 3-4 shoots off in that timeframe.
  13. "What's the secret to shooting fast splits on long range targets?" The ability to accept the fact that you might miss or fail.
  14. Just remember the "M" card has a whole nother class above it.
  15. I don't care who it came from my point was made. The operative word was scold and no mater who did it at a match it is uncalled for.
  16. Part of the definition of “focus” is something can be clearly apprehended, to apprehend is to constrain. “Focus” on the things you want to slow down and let the rest just come.
  17. When you dry fire instead of pin the trigger and think of that as the end of your shot continue thru the shot reset the trigger and prep for your next shot and consider that the end of your firing sequence.
  18. After arriving 2hrs early to set up a stage, a good prone stage design is nice to get you off your feet for a while.
  19. I like creative hard cover it really speeds up walk thru's. If they are all different, there is no... did I shoot that one already... backtrack?
  20. What I want to know is where in the rule book does it say an RO has the right to scold anyone... if I did something wrong give me a penalty or DQ me if I didn't shut the "F" up and go about your business I’m not your kid. Just curious, was the RO a traffic cop or did he just have an inflated ego?
