  1. Ok, I was on the waiting list and just got put on the shooting roster tonight (OLTH). Now im nervous, this is my first major match, i shoot at a local club from time to time, but not anywhere else. Lots of questions. Reading the rules for limited, not sure If my equipment will make it. I would like to shoot my STI 2011 (40sw), looks like a Brazos custom, iron sights, makes limited division in USPSA rules, but all I have are 140mm mags for it, so by the rules, says no extended mags, is that gun sidelined? I have a Glock 35 I shoot also, guess I could shoot it. I have an 16" AR15 I built from scratch, nothing too special, but I have an Eotech 552, 1x red dot optic, back up irons on it that stay down, and a Jerry Miculek Comp on it. Im still waiting for Mossber to release their JM Pro shotgun, but currently have a 870 remmy. Can I shoot limited division with the STI, AR and shotty? Or should I just start planning on the Glock with standard length mags? with a 1x optic on my AR, I plan on shooting my Rem 700 in .308 for long range targets Other question is the camp sight, I have a full size motorhome, how large is the campsite, can I fit there? i understand its dry camping, not a problem, just the size is my concern. For this match is there power factors to meet, Major/Minor etc? I have tons of questions at this point, but will try to educate myself more before asking here.
  2. I keep checking too, so far, none in stock. I have even checked one of the wholesale sites, not in stock. what amazes me is how many sites have the model numbers confused between the 22" and the 24", hope that sorts itself out soon, probably as soon as they actually get their hands on one.
  3. i think that hole might be functional, when you load fast, the displaced air can escape it. i doubt the follower is tight enough to cause it to lock up though.
  4. I just had a little notch added to my medical history, which is going to slow down my shooting for a few weeks, so I have magically found the patience to wait for the Mossberg again:)
  5. That sucks, I need a shotgun now, if it doesnt hit the street soon, their going to lose my money and I will just pony up for a FN. I have another shotgun match this Saturday and every other saturday for the next two months as a 2-gun match.
  6. Mossberg has not replied to my email.
  7. I emailed Mossberg yesterday to see when they were going to start shipping them. So far, no reply. Im not sure why companies wait until they have XXX amount of a product before they begin shipping. Hell, If I had 10, ready to go out the door, I would put them out the door, that would satisfy the 10 that got them, but would also excite the people waiting, now that everyone knows its a real product and "AVAILABLE", I just have to wait my turn, rather than wondering if it will be this year and take my money somehwere else.
  8. hi-techammo.com or patsreloading.com wideners has already been mentioned. Those are my 3 go to sights for bulk bullets, they have lots of different stuff.
  9. Ok, cant stand it already, when are they going to start showing up at dealers, I got money burning a hole in my pocket. I need a shotgun NOW.
  10. So for a welded Lifter, is that something that can be purchased from one the great smiths on the boards here, and then install it ourselves, or is there something tricky to it and the gun has to be sent in for timing and fitting?
  11. Now I just have to remember where I buried all those cans of change in the yard:) im definitely on board for one of these. Two things that dissapoint me though, is the mag tube extension isnt flush with the barrel on one of them and the lifter not being upgraded. So, the big decision for me will be 22" or 24". It will probably be the 22" just for being flush. The extra capacity is always nice, but inside a shoot house, im used to running 14" and 18" guns, im going to have to reprogram my run patterns around walls/corners. hard to tell from the angled photo, but it looks like the 22" is flush with the barrel extension.
  12. Money has been a little tight lately, spending too much on my hobbies. I need a shotgun and am short of funds for a nice autoloader and considering trying the Mossberg 590 pump with 20" barrel to get me by for the next year or so for 3gun. I looked briefly at the ghost ring sights and thought they looked a little flimsy and cheap. Im a "bead" guy and have no experience with the ghost rings, do you guys think the mossy's are junk and I should just stick with a standard bead, or what? opionions appreciated.
  13. that mag doesnt look like a new style magazine and from the long number on the follower, im curious if its a factory Glock mag. Read on the .25 cent trigger job as well, some light polishing will help smooth out the gritty parts. Other than that, shoot it a lot.
  14. without digging out my papers, My KKM was about 35fps faster on average with lead and plated bullets out of my G35, than my OEM barrel. But the KKM is very finicky about what it eats. I dont recall if I did a comparison with jacketed. Chrono tested of course.
  15. recently when working on my dads, G19, we were shooting some hot 9mm and found that the cases were bulging at the feed ramp. A quick test of the recoil spring assembly showed it would not pull the slide up (performing the traditional test). The spring had became so weak, it created a unsafe condition that was allowing the gun to unlock prematurely when firing. a new spring assembly cured it, even with the +p+. More on topic, accuracy didnt seem to suffer, just safety.
  16. Kart used to be the standard for the military pistol teams years ago because of their consistancy and accuracy. When I researched this issue out a couple a years ago, I pretty much came to the conclusion that if I wanted a carbon barrel with a blued finish, then Kart was the only way to go, but since I wanted a Stainless barrel, Bar-Sto was my 1st choice after talking to several reputable smiths, and I managed to find one for sale on a reputable builders (Brazos) shelf (40sw bull for 2011), so no 8 month wait. Bruce Gray fit my barrel and fit my slide to frame on my gun and I couldnt be happier. I also came across several opinions about karts shooting lead more accurately than jacketed and the reverse for Bar-Sto because of the depth of the lands and groves, but that was less of a concern for me since I shoot a mixture of everything and both were more than acceptable for accuracy with either.
  17. Long flat interchangeable SVI on my gun. My fingers are long and a long flat is the only one that puts my finger where it should be.
  18. I have the trijicon night sights from my G22 and was thinking of putting them on my G35, are they the correct height, or are there differences. I have looked at a couple of sales websites, they list the sights as fitting all of the glock models, but I was thinking there was a difference in the platforms. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. has anyone measured the new 22rd Factory Glock mags, I had one in my hand a few months ago, I belive it was the same length of my standard mag with dawson extension. If they fit in the box, they are a cheap alternative to modifying a standard 15rd mag, with added reliability.
  20. Sounds like everyone here left some great information on the AD, if it wasnt a misplaced finger, then the trigger would by my first area of inspection, the last thing I would like to address is the bolt closing hard on the live round. You might check your ammo on a case gage. Even though you full length sized the case, you still might not have achieved the correct shoulder set back and that could be causing that particular problem. If your case shoulder is set correctly and the problem continues, check your trim length in that particular gun.
  21. the carb cleaner ate some of the plastic on an old Mac-10 plastic grip I was playing with. the brake cleaner dulled the luster of my 2011 grip and left a temp white residue, I never used it again.
  22. I use amsoil full synthetic or Mobile One, been using it for years, tried it on a machine gun bolt, it didnt burn off in 10 seconds like remoil, CLP, Tetra, etc., actually lasted several hundred rounds and if you have ever done any of your own friction tests, syn motor oils are hard to beat and a quart of motor oil costs the same as a 2 oz bottle of gun oil. I also use a lightweight amsoil grease for slide rails and bolts, looks and works like slideglide at a fraction of the price. Slide glide is really good stuff, just pricey in comparison. Amsoil grease is the same color and smells the same as SG, but SG is stringier (sp). amsoil Motoroil will stay wet for a month or two in concealed and open carry and not attract much dust either.
  23. CLP does have its place. I did my own testing and found it to be a superior protector against rust. take jars full of water, steel nail, dip the nail in clp and drop the nail in the water, moniter over a few days and try several other types of oil in the other jars and CLP was the last one to show any rust after a few days. You guys are right, it sucks for a lubricant and water cleans about as well as CLP. I still buy it and put it on my guns for rust prevention. I use other oils and grease for lubrication.
  24. I have shot about 9k rds with titegroup behind lead, seemed like the hot, very dry days I got very little smoke, but try it with even a little humidity or early on a cool morning and the smoke was very heavy. Titegroup was all I shot for years because it was about 6 bucks a can less than the rest and it gave good results, but with powder being hard to come by right now and prices that are all high, its not the bargain it used to be, so Im going to try WST.
  25. a friend of mine sheered the lugs off of his barrel (1911), the barrel had been chromed and was deemed a failure to hydrogen embrittlement. Bang, bang bang, shchhlllink.........now how did that slide get on the ground?
