  1. OK, I've got that much figured out, but HOW much higher? 1/8" ... 1/2" ??? Also how high does the comp model sight to begin with, in other words, what is the distance from the center-line of the bore, to the center=line of the C-More lens assembly? I know the hunter model allows you to dissassemble the gun for cleaning, without removing your iron sights, which sounds cool, but will this hurt me more down the road. I have heard many people say "that the lower your dot sits ..... the better" or the closer your dot is to the boreline the better you will shoot. Now while I agree that this is true ......... to what extent is it true. The Carver mount looks like it already makes the C-more sit pretty high to begin with, so will an extra 1/4" or 3/8" make much difference. Or do I even need to worry about keeping the iron sights on at all? I like the idea of iron sights as a back-up to the dot, so if the battery goes out or the dot fails, I am still in business. But with the C-More on there (on a Carver mount I assume) will I even be able to SEE a sight-picture with my sights? Or will the C-more and mount be in the way? If thats the case, I might as well just throw my "irons" away, right? Then I could go as low as I want, huh?
  2. Also wondering if anybody who uses a Carver Mount can tell me the difference between the Hunter model and the Competition model?
  3. Just curious to hear what some of you have to say about the Carvers. I'm about to order a C-More "Slide-Ride" for my GLOCK, and I'm not sure which type of frame mount to go with ..... I've used a J-Point forever, so I am used to the direct-slide mounting style, since I see Lone-Wolf Dristributors has a C-MORE/GLOCK dove-tail bracket for only $30, but I was hoping to move up to a frame-mount for clarity, and focus, you know ...... "Be the DOT!" (After shooting a direct-mounted JPoint for years this will be like all new to me!) And while the Carver looks like "Fort Knox" when it comes to rugedness, I fear the months and months of tinkering with it to get it to eject 100% So what really IS the best way to mount a C-More on a GLOCK? Thanks, Chris
  4. So Joe, are you going to step up and give me someone to worry about in the next league, or do I just have to continue to be Bills training dummy!?!
  5. I WANTED to say it but was too chicken !!!!

If your looking to eject your brass further to the rear of the pistol, I think a stiffer spring is necciary. Usually a weaker spring barely ejects brass from the gun, and usually just drops it a few inches from the shooter.

Is that Joe P. ??? In Dayton ??? Hey, its me ........... Chris! I'm not sure what poundage my spring is. I started with a 15# spring and then cut 4 or 5 coils off. I didnt want to go too far, but still not sure I did much if any good. It still runs ok. Thanks for the holster mods by the way!!!
  8. Love to Flex. How about when you have your RO class? When is that? Feb? Anyways, count me in. P.S. If you have a good recipe for Major 9 out of a G17, let me know. I could put my J-Point on that after I get a C-More on my G24. Thanks, Chris DVC
  9. WOW Jon, THAT THING IS AWESOME LOOKING! Ya got any other pics of that thing??? I'd love to know more about that .... How'd you do the RACKER and from who??? Thanks, Chris DVC
  10. Mods recently completed ............ but thanks for the heads up! I run a Hogue Universal Speed holster, (you know the famous magnet one!) and I had a good friend, Mr. Joe Pence, at Sim-Trainer, 'mod it up' for me. To accomidate the new Carver mount, he Dremmled the magnet rail off and sanded it down really smooth, then used nylon spacers (1" long ) and longer screws to offset the holster 'off' the belt-clamp, and away from the body a bit! Then he did the same to all my mag pouches for like $20.00 I've got to get a pic of his handy-work on this otherwise meager Glock race rig, he did an excellent job! Thanks Joe!
  11. Yeah I have the rail. This gun started as a 22, then I added the 24 upper, then I went crazy!!! Full Open Gun!!
  12. Sounds good Ted. PM me or e-mail me for details. Im in SW Ohio. Where R U? P.S. Sorry Kyle ............ just being thorough!
  13. Anybody ever seen a slide-racker for a GLOCK ??? Would be nice for us wanna-a-bee's!!!!
  14. Thanks hdgun .......... if you recall I'm one of the people who replied to your earlier thread about the scratches (back in Aug!) I still have those scratches, and I have learned to live with them. I'm just about ready to order a C-More, but will try your solution in case anybody I know wants to buy my J-Point dot. Who knows, maybe that J-Point will end up on another Glock down the line, but I doubt it! Anyways THANKS A BUNCH! Chris DVC
  15. I am looking for a C-More setup for a Glock 24, but I'm not sure if I should get the "SlideRide" C-More or the "Railway" model. Also gonna need a Carver mount to attach it, right? But which one? Obviously the C-More model, but they have a "Competition" model, that says you HAVE to remove the iron sights for it to work right (?) and then they have a "Hunter" model that says you don't , but probably rides higher than the comp. model. OK, now if you could all just pick a color for me, we'll be in business!!!! Thanks alot, Chris DVC
  16. Yes, I hear you all .............. Im sure there are a hundred places on the web to find it, but I was looking for a LOCAL store from which to purchase it. I did find the Flitz liquid polish at my local ACE HARDWARE store ............... still on the lookout for the paste. Maybe at this rate I could just order the paste and keep farting around with the liquid ..... (dosent seem to be doing me much good) Thanks all (especially RTR )
  17. EVERYBODY seems to rant and rave about FLITZ POLISH, but NOBODY seems to give away the BIG SECRET ........... WHERE THEY BOUGHT IT!!! I could order it off the web, but I want to try it out tonight, and not in a week or two! Any help??? Thanks Chris
  18. Damn ........... you all were very quick quick with the PVC responses! But to be honest, I already had you beat! I bought some PVC pipe at lunch today, but before I screwed up and cut it wrong, I thought I'd inquire here. I just didnt know what size. Hell I thought 4 sticks of 10 ft pipe would yield 2 - 4x4 boxes, but now I can do 3 - 3x3 boxes! Only difference is I bought 1/2" PVC (cheaper, lighter, not a huge trip factor (In case Im practicing alone, and trip, especially during live fire!)) Thanks for the help fellows (& laidies!) Chris DVC
  19. Id like to build a training verson of a starting box, to help with my dry-fire practice, but I dont know how big to make it, & couldnt find any specs on it anywhere? Does anybody know the answer to this??? TIA Chris
  20. Bills new SQUAD of 10 was a little intimidated today, but just the same, they NEVER SAID DIE! Quite a few of them shot a number of stages with ALL A's! :-) We had an AEWSOME time today. Thanks to everyone who made it happen! CHRIS DVC PS We got pics of today but I dont know how to post a pic ......
  21. Hey has anybody ever tried listening to Cake's "Going The Distance" and thought of yourself as the guy in the song??? Pretty cool to listen to, and picture yourself shooting all A's ............ "Churning and Burning, they yearn for the Cup!" Lol
  22. I'm still thinking about that G17, but if you EVER decide to let that PM9 go ...... come talk to me !
  23. SAMMY HAGAR has some great "Going To Match" songs ........... I Can't Drive 55, & There's Only One Way To Rock, & Bad Motor Scooter, etc. Of course there's LOTS of bands whose songs could be used to get pumped up with on the way to a match. And of course theres just alot of good bands out there. Some of my favorites: Van Halen Def Leppard Ratt Tesla Great White Ozzy/Sabbath Dokken Cinderella Kiss this is starting to sound like a hair-band greatest hits commercial ........ SRV KWS Jonny Lang Pink Floyd And of course WHO COULD FORGET Terrible TED, huntin' mountain lions with a BOW!

    Optima problems

Hdgun, I am shooting a G24C w/KKM barell and ext. comp. It has a J-Point red-dot now, but used to have an Optima 2000 before that. I have been shooting this gun for 3+ years now with no problem. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I had 2 scratches show up on the lens. My friend has a farm on the outskirts of town where we just started holding some weekly practices, and we shoot in the woods. At first I thought the woods had something to do with it. I also let my friend try her out that day as well, maybe he had something to do with it (dropped it, or limp wristed it, etc.) The following weekend I shot in a Sunday morning match that had 7 stages, and I noticed it got worse! Now I can count 6 or 7 random sized scratches, all predominately on the right hand side of the lens. I cant seem to narrow out why it started, any better than I can figure out why it stopped either. As far as "fixing" the scratches ........... any help would be appricated. Most likely we will have to send them in for repairs. But I wish I knew why it started so I can figure out if it will just start all over again after the lens gets fixed! Chris
