finally got a load worked out for my open 17
this is it.............along with the disclaimer(dont shoot this in a stock glock barrel and start at 6.8g and work up chronoghraphing as you go if you're going to try it,,,,,while doing this myself i finally made it to 7.8g and chr. it 1357 avg. next i went up to 8.0g and it was within a few fps of 1400fps......a 40fps increase...this is where it starts getting a little tense...
7.8g seems to be the point where a 1/10th of a grain increase doesnt move up linear w/ 20fps any more , im thinking this is the point where you get 60-75fps increases w/ each 1/10 th,,,,i also had several 8.2g loads there that i chose not to shoot, but instead pull the bullets.......and just so you know,,,im not the big fraidy cat,,,i was shooting .40 135's at around 1500fps....and thats pretty hot for a .40 in a glock.....ive never loaded major 9 before but from what little testing ive done its enough to scare me and im fearless, so be careful
my new load is going to be 7.8g of HS-6 w/rainier 124g rn. @1.130 oal
= 1357 fps,,,at this level oal is very critical, i tried some at 1.120 and they were considerably hotter.......got to keep oal near max..........and measure every one
comes out to 168.3pf,,,,,****dont try this in a stock glock barrel**** it will probably turn your gun into a big piece of jagged, dangerous polymer/steel...
