Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. finally got a load worked out for my open 17 this is it.............along with the disclaimer(dont shoot this in a stock glock barrel and start at 6.8g and work up chronoghraphing as you go if you're going to try it,,,,,while doing this myself i finally made it to 7.8g and chr. it 1357 avg. next i went up to 8.0g and it was within a few fps of 1400fps......a 40fps increase...this is where it starts getting a little tense... 7.8g seems to be the point where a 1/10th of a grain increase doesnt move up linear w/ 20fps any more , im thinking this is the point where you get 60-75fps increases w/ each 1/10 th,,,,i also had several 8.2g loads there that i chose not to shoot, but instead pull the bullets.......and just so you know,,,im not the big fraidy cat,,,i was shooting .40 135's at around 1500fps....and thats pretty hot for a .40 in a glock.....ive never loaded major 9 before but from what little testing ive done its enough to scare me and im fearless, so be careful my new load is going to be 7.8g of HS-6 w/rainier 124g rn. @1.130 oal = 1357 fps,,,at this level oal is very critical, i tried some at 1.120 and they were considerably hotter.......got to keep oal near max..........and measure every one comes out to 168.3pf,,,,,****dont try this in a stock glock barrel**** it will probably turn your gun into a big piece of jagged, dangerous polymer/steel...
  2. lauer custom weaponry does them in any color you want for 50-60 bucks
  3. i machined the comp out of a 2" round bar of alum. at my cousins shop. as for life expectancy??????? ive got another on an open 24 and with 1500+ rounds thru it it doesnt seem to be eroding yet...and on the 40 i push 135's @ 1340-50 thru it all day long
  4. at 15 and in im faster with irons,,,,i have a c-more on a carver,,,just didnt have it on there yet..
  5. i just got it built over the weekend and ran about 300 rds thru it and it ran flawless, wasnt even lubricated......has imsi 13# spring and the comp is aluminum...dead flat with factory stuff, now ive got to get a recipe for major 9!!! anyone have one for 124's and hp-38, or hs-6????? http://www.hunt101.com/img/263906.JPG
  6. i just built a new open top in 9major,,,its a 17c slide with six ports in the barrel blowing thru the stock c slide porting and my own three chamber comp. w/ four side bleeders, imsi 13#, and it keeps more pressure on the slide uncaptured instead of captured......really flat with factory stuff. i cant wait to get some 124's loaded up around 1350fps,,,,,should be dead flat with em.. http://www.hunt101.com/img/263906.JPG
  7. i use an imsi 15# in mine, 24 with 6 ports in the barrel and three port comp with four side bleeders......

kal, if your worried about too much weight and over indexing....cutt the top of the slide like i did mine....takes a lot of weight out of it... if your going to use a cmore with carver mount its very hard to get them to eject the brass clean,,,lots of stove-pipes on the rear of the cmore... good luck
  10. im there,,,,was hoping you were shooting open this time......
  11. thanks db, ill bevel mine. i did push hard on the top round and heard a pop and the mag finally took the last three.....
  12. so im guessing the rear legs are catching on a coil and stopping downward travel of follower???
  13. ive bought 4 of these and all i can ever get into them is 20 rounds???? is this normal until the springs take a set??? should i cut a coil or two ??? they should hold 23.....
  14. im looking for 40 cal mag springs to use in a glock 24......the ones im looking for are smaller at the top and taper larger at the bottom, they stack inside thierself without the coils stacking on each other???????? im thinking maybe para???
  15. found the problem,,,,,,the ejector was hitting the case between the 7 and 8 o'clock positionand was only hitting about a 1/64 th,,maybe a 1/32"...of the edge of the rim i pulled the ejector and heated the tip and bent it up about an 1/8th",,,ejects about 5-6' straight to right and foreward and thats pulling the slide by hand with empty brass... i think the cases were riding on the top of the ejector and popping off the extractor instead of hitting it and flinging it out...
