  1. Testing out an idea that I had for the past week...
  2. As for bobtail on a 2011, I don't know if that will work. The stock MW opening is large and there might not be enough to form the back of the magwell.
  3. That's basically a VIP grip. STI drilled a new MSH pin hole and chopped of the magwell. Roughly 6mm shorter.
  4. Thanks! That's a worked over SA Ultra Compact.
  5. Here's a close up picture of the undercut. This is when I just got done with it.
  6. I had done my own undercut on my STI grip. Just go slow and test fit to your liking. Use a sanding drum on a dremel to rough in the shape. Then use 220/320 grit sandpaper to remove the tooling marks. And them finish it up with 600 grit. I had used a large and small sharpie marker to wrap the papers in.
  7. Yes you can. Most of the parts are interchangeable. Only parts that are 2011 specific are: trigger, and mag release. Here's my project. I wanted a 2011 lower for my stock STI Duty One 9mm. The goal was to have two lower - single stack and double stack - w/ a common top end. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=162795
  8. Thanks! Just sand paper. Started with a dremel to rough in the shape and cut most of the plastic off. Then move to 220 or 330 grit for cleaning up and finish the final shape/contour. And finished polishing with 600 grit. All of the Samson were done with the paper wrapped around a large sharpie and small dow rod.
  9. Thank you! The gun really makes me look good. :-)
  10. Cody, yes. Really happy with the outcome.
  11. The point is, since they don't make any of their parts, it's not bad. But for them to assemble or fix your gun, well, that's another story.
  12. Fusion doesn't make any of their parts. All are contracted out by various vendors. If you want a slide, look at one from STI, since Fusion mostly uses STI slides anyway. Or look into Remsport, who is also supplies slide and frame to Fusion. Call John at Remsport and see if he has a 6" slide for you.
  13. I believe it's a John Harrison worked over EMP.
  14. Took her out for her maiden voyage. 10 rounds of Federal 115gr. Target set at 7 yards. Free standing, slow firing. The two fliers were put there by me jerking the trigger.
  15. Sorry to hear about your situation. That's not a huge surprise to hear all of the issues with Fusions. I've seen DIY builds that had better BTGS fitting than what Fusion would do on their guns. And I've read and saw pictures, from the actual owners of their guns, getting "free upgrades" on their builds. More specifically, they got features, like BHP cuts on their slide, and that they didn't ask for. And this is his gun. Also note the horribly fitted BTGS.
  16. Very cool! Love the full dust cover.
  17. Depending on which frame kit you're looking at. I had built a 1911 from a Remsport frame/slide/barrel kit. And they're one of Fusion's supplier. So it would be cheaper to get it directly from the source. Here's the finished product.
  18. 19. Thank you. I saw an example of a Tactical 3.0 with te same color combo and it just jumped out at me.
  20. I had a gold bead on one of my 1911, while it was a nice change, it wasn't as bright as the FO fronts that I have on my other 1911s.
