  1. I have installed KKM conversion barrels in several Gen 4 Glocks and they worked with the OEM RSA.

    JBP55:

After cycling the slide/barrel assembly 20+ times with the stock dual RSA, I feel confident the pistol would function just fine during a firing session. I ran several magazines of snap-cap rounds along with a few live factory and reload rounds, and the feeding and extraction worked perfectly. Realize it's not actual live firing, but again I think the stock RSA would function fine. Just not satisfied with the stock RSA having a slight protrusion as noted above.

Going to see how the Jager conversion RSA works and will go from there. I'll eventually test both RSA's for my own satisfaction, and hopefully report back asap.

    Thanks for your reply!

  2. I don't have one but is it regarding the crescent shape cutout spot that the rear of the RSA assembly sits in? I have a Gen 4 with a KKM barrel which obviously has the cutout for a gen 3, but i already had a gen 3 guide rod in the gun. So i can't tell you if i had any problem with it. Either get the a gen 3 rod with adapter, or try the DRSA that you have in the gun. If you have any problems then switch it over.

    G17:

You're absolutely right concerning the saddle for the rear of the RSA. After some careful, minor fitting, the Bar-Sto locked up perfectly. After reassembling the 17, I noticed this at the front of the slide:

You'll notice the front of the RSA protruding slightly in front of the slide. After some thought and examination, I noticed the cutout was not identical to the G4 barrel. Assuming it's for the Gen 3 as you noted; so I ordered a Jager steel G4 to G3 guide rod along with several ISMI flat springs.

Have plenty of time with the bad wx we're having; so I'll report back once I get the Jager parts and find a break to shoot the new setup.

    THANK YOU for chiming in!!

  3. First of all how old id "old"? Grouping info doesn't help if you don't tell us how far the targets are... unless I'm too old and missed that somehow.

Also, I'm amazed with the glasses people use to shoot. I can't imagine using bifocals to shoot. How can that work for tight shots when you are looking out the top of your glasses and need sharp front sight focus?

Also- I highly recommend using a monivision set up. Dominant eye sees the front sight clear and the other eye is set up for far distances. You can play around with this a bit.... or try using pair of reading glasses or a weak pair of reading classes.

My eyes are pretty bad but in slow fire I can usually do fine. I'm predominantly far sighted with +4.00 in shooting eye, +3.50 in non dominant eye (monovision set up). I can probably bump them up a bit soon too.

    Agree!

I also have monovision contacts, and found using my normal contact (distance) in left eye along with a standard +1.5 contact in my right allows me to focus on the target, bring the sights to eye level, and then focus on the front FO sight. Works really well for "my" older eyes.

    Also, some good info:

  4. For my G17 G4 that's used primarily for GSSF (accuracy), I put Dawson FO front/adjustable rear sights on and just installed a Bar-Sto semi drop in barrel for lead reloads/cheaper practice.

Have not shot the Bar-Sto yet, but feel confident the accuracy will be there with the right load recipe.....

I'm sure the Zev Fulcrum will satisfy your trigger needs!

  5. may I ask whom is selling ------ smaller diameter spring & pheonolic

There is a gentleman selling a smaller diameter spring and phenoic ball to reduce the spill from shellplate jump. I purchased it and use it with success. I have a 650 at Dillon for an overhaul and will try 9 major when it returns next week. My other machine is setup for 40 and this product smooths out the action. While Dillons product service and support are top notch there are many problems that anyone who has operated a 550 or 650 is familiar with. Are spent primers really supposed to end up all over the bench and floor. Certainly Dillon must be aware of this problem. Gary is correct.

may I ask whom is selling this upgrade ?

    This might help:

  6. From Dillon's Website:

If something major is damaged or broken, contact us and we issue the customer a return merchandise authorization-RMA- to return the item to us for repair. The customer pays the shipping; we fix or replace as is warranted. Only our commercial machine, the Super 1050, has a one-year warranty, as do all electrical/electronic products and textiles. Our customers understand that they have a best friend at our factory. We are only a phone call, FAX or E-mail away. In return we receive an incredible amount of customer loyalty.

  7. Hello!

Been lurking for quite a while....... decided to break the ice and do an intro. Hail from Pike County, KY; and my Son lives in Louisville. He and I have competed in the last 2 GSSF matches in Wilmore and one in Beckley, WV. Have also practiced at Silvercreek as my Son is a member there. We both CCW and compete (GSSF) with Gen4 Glocks. Hope to expand into shooting some Steel next year.

Son is using an XL650 that I set up for him in 2012; and I'm planning an XL650 for a winter project once I get a bench built and the garage organized. Sold the XL650 I had purchased in the '90s to a good friend; and he will not part with it! So, I'll have to purchase another one.

Had the priviledge of shooting IPSC at Ashland Gun Club in the early 1990's with a 1911/Nowlin .38S racer and a 1911 stocker.

Have to say this forum is one of the best I've been a member of; and want to say THANK YOU to Brian and all the members here for sharing such a wealth of information.

    Best Regards!

  8. Do I need to worry if range brass was fired in a Glock before I reload for my STI .40? I bought some processed brass from Shooters Connection when I started reloading this caliber but I have a whole bucket of range collected .40.

Don't know if it's still happening, but my Son bought 1k, once fired 40 S&W Federal brass from Shooters, and immediately started having primer seating issues with his XL650. We discovered that a bunch of the brass were Federal NT stamped and had crimped primer pockets. So, we've set those aside for now.....

IMO, running range collected .40 through a GR-X or Bulge Buster will produce brass that will function in any pistol.
