  1. Most 3-Gun matches don't use power factors. From my experience, allot of shooters are moving to 9mm with hi-cap mags. So your Glock will be good to go until you find something you like better.
  2. Shooters Connection has good customer service and fast shipping.
  3. There's no substitute for practice. Dry firing and reloading practice are good too.
  4. Welcome, you'll enjoy this forum. It has a wealth of information.
  5. Hi, I've been shooting 3-Gun for a few years and enjoy it a bunch. I shoot mostly .308 iron, but am now moving towards scoped rifles because of aging eyes.
  6. I previously owned an older BPS shotgun that I used a Nordic 4 round extension tube on. I sold the shotgun a while ago, but recently wanted to get a replacement for it, so today I bought a new BPS. When I tried to put the Nordic Extension tube on it, I found that the newer BPS shotguns had the end of the mag tube slightly rolled to keep the follower in. Of course this prevents the follower to move freely into the extension. Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem? (I hate to grind on a new shotgun) Does anyone make a one piece tube for the BPS?
  7. Airedale, The cheek weld is right on for me, not much different from a standard stock. I just put on a Smith Ent. quick bolt release on mine too, I think it's great! Very quick to get the bolt closed, no need to remove the right hand from the firing position. Especially helpful with the E2 stock. Steve Alley is the owner of Alley Supply in NV. You'll need to call him about the sight, he also has a few taller sights left he made special for 18" length barrels. I believe Brownells sells the too, just search on Globe Sights on the Brownell site. Here's a link to Alley's contact web page: Alley Supply C6
  8. I use an 18" Bush rifle with E2 stock & Smith Enterprise muzzle break. Very little recoil and easy to shoot. I've recently added an Alley Supply Globe front sight and I find it to be more accurate than the earred front sight.
  9. I e-mailed US Optics a few days ago about the JP reticle availability. Wendell said it would be available in about 3 months. He also said it would cost $300 for the conversion. I found, that out to 400 yards, I could use the dot very well. The 400 yd target sight picture had the dot sitting right on top of the target. I don't know if the JP reticle would be necessary since most of our target are short of 400 yds. I used my SN4 for the first time at a 3 gun match this past weekend and really liked it. Targets were from 100 to 340 yds. I placed the dot on the target at each of those ranges and didn't miss a one - had the scope set at 4X. Now, if I could just get the shotgun to shoot as well....
  10. I used a US Optics SN4 for the first time this weekend and really liked it. Replaced my TA01 with it.
  11. I have a TA31 and a TA01 I've used on my JP15. For most matches I prefer the TA01 because of the more precise reticule. The TA31 donut reticule is fast for close-in shots but lacks the accuracy of the TA01 between 100 & 300 meters. Since most targets we use are between 25 & 300 meters, the TA01 is my choice. Out beyond 300 meters they work the same. BTW, I shoot with both eyes open.
  12. Jerry has my Gold Hunter right now I'm having him do his entire custom package on it; really looking forward to getting it back. C6
  13. I use one from Ky-Tac. Very well made, adjustable, and holds the pistol tightly for those fast moving stages. Received it less than a month after ordering.
  14. I have a Cammenga and don't use it. It looked fast at the gun show, but in real life it's a pain to use. I like the LULU better.
  15. I had a TA01B on a FAL for a short time. It's a great sight, but the problem I had was from the recoil. The eye relief is 1.5" and I kept getting smacked in the glasses from the recoil. I think the TA11 series is a better choice for a .308 rifle since it has a longer eye relief -- 2.4". I used a TA11E and found it much better and more forgiving on the recoil.
  16. I've found that 3GunGear pouches work best for me. I have the T-Rig on my leg; with pouches for either my AR15 and my M1A. I'm thinking of getting a mag-cinch type holder to attach 2 mags together.
  17. I'm new to 3-Gun competitions and shoot what I have right now - a 16 incher with tele-stock, TA31, and the barrel free-floated with a RAS II. The guys I shoot with use JPs and eventually I'll upgrade to one (I'm saving my pennies).
  18. Here's a few more: From Different's M14 site: Different's M14 Website
  19. A traditional scope sits much lower than the ACOG. I had a Leupold Mark 4 M3 in ARMS 22L rings on the rifle and the rear eye piece of the scope was about 1/4 above the rear iron sight. With a cheek rest, the scope was easy to sight through with a good cheek weld. I have an ARMS 18 and like previously stated, it's only about a 1/4" lower than the Brookfield. I believe a TA51 ACOG mount will also lower the ACOG, but only by 1/8". The problem mounting an ACOG on a scout mount is the eye relief. The TA01B has an eye relief of 1.5" and the TA11 series has a 2.5" relief. The scout mount needs a scope with a good 7-8 inches of eye relief. The Burris Scout and Leupold Scout IER (Intermediate Eye Relief) scopes are great for the scout mount, but only give you 2-3X. I've tried the Burris, and it worked great.
  20. I did this as an experiment. I have an ACOG I use on my AR15, so I tried in on my Bush rifle. I do not use this setup, I just put the ACOG on the mount to take this pic. Here's a pic. The mount is Brookfield and the ACOG mount is an ARMS 19S; as you can see it sits very high. The ARMS 18 is a bit lower and you may be able to find an ACOG mount that will sit the scope a hair lower, but all in all what you see is what you get. I tried looking through my ACOG and it's just too awkward. There's no cheek weld and you really can't get close enough to get optimal eye relief because of the full stock on the M14.
