  1. I always love it when people talk this way.....tell you what, Vlad, you bring your bottomfeeder with you to Area 5 or Area 3, and we'll have a friendly little competition just between us two. I'll shoot my revolver against you heads-up. Maybe put a little cash on it just to keep things interesting?
  2. Heck, you might as well shoot the same gear you're using for IDPA, just make sure you have at least 8 speedloaders available.
  3. You're a year late, Bro! That was last season.
  4. So you're relying on your local UPS employee's interpretation of UPS's shipping rules? Do you think that same friendly clerk will be making the decision on your insurance claim if the package containing the frame gets lost?
  5. Your local post office is feeding you a line of total bullcrap. There is no reason to use registered mail. For shipments between FFL holders, insured priority mail is perfectly fine.
  6. Who else is up for shooting Area 3 this year? The Hornady range is a great facility, and Sherwyn's stages are always totally evil! Let's put together a good showing. And if you want, jump on Squad 38 with me.
  7. Sounds to me like somebody installed a spring kit. But even then, I'm surprised it's not working with Federal primers seated below flush. It shouldn't take much to light those off. Iowegan's information is as good as anything I've ever seen on the Ruger DA wheels. His real name is Gary and he used to post frequently on the S&W Forum--you might try contacting him directly by email if he's still around. I don't think a jig is going to help you on the DA pull. I might be mistaken, but I believe the GP-100 jig adaptor is used to recut the single-action sear. And who cares about that, for the stuff we do anyway, right? Proceed carefully, because I don't think Ruger will sell you replacement parts.
  8. Well, I'm not real worried about Ray running away with the money! Thanks for explaining the steel match thing. That was the main thing that was previously unclear.
  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one who accidentally "wins" guns on Gunbroker. Sometimes I forget that I've bid on them until I get the congratulatory email. I probably need to keep the bottle of scotch a little further away from the computer.....
  10. Guys, I decided to shoot the main match all day Saturday, and the steel side match on Sunday. If you like the sound of that, let's make Squad 305 the wheelgunner's squad.
  11. I see Jerry Miculek is signed up for A5 this year!
  12. Yep, I believe you are right. Pretty sure on Ashley's last shot there's a hole in the board right under the bottle that wasn't there before his last shot. I think Kyle hit the board with his last shot also. As it turned out, it didn't matter, but they didn't have that particular challenge fully debugged, did they?
  13. Yeah, some wiggle is normal. I'd recommend keeping your thumb off the latch until you actually open the gun, and I doubt you will notice it.
  14. RGS, is your Springfield a Loaded Target model with ramped barrel? Or an older Springfield 9mm?
  15. Yeah, I'm a little confused by all the fancy online registration stuff. And if I'm confused, I can only imagine what it's doing to the hillbilly shooters from Tennessee and Oklahoma. So after chasing around after all the links, confirmation emails, shopping carts, account activation, status changes, etc., etc., etc., I think I've finally done everything correctly. Near as I can tell, I have transmitted $155 from my checking into Ray Hirst's personal Paypal account. At some point, I guess I will receive an email with a passcode that will allow me to self-squad for A5, right? And somehow I will be asked to select a time slot for the steel side match that doesn't conflict with the main match, right?
  16. Vigilante, I have the same gun, and have shot it quite a bit with little stubby 95-gr. Montana Gold bullets, which are short and blunt. It has never failed to feed with Wilson 10-rd. 9mm mags. Before you change anything, I would strongly recommend you try Wilson mags in your gun. I'll bet that solves your problem entirely.
  17. I'll probably be there. Haven't signed up yet, though. Always fun to shoot with the other wheels.
  18. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Jerry was a GM at skipping rocks. LOL, I actually had a hard time thinking of something that might be hard for JM That's what happens when you and your buddies ride around the bayou in a swamp boat for about 50 years killing everything that moves with whatever gun or weapon that happens to be available!
  19. Just this morning in the bathroom I was reading an old issue of Front Sight (not real old, it was from 2009) and there was an article about Area 5 written by James Tarr in which he described USPSA revolver shooting as "slow torture." Apparently he completely missed the fact that the better revolvers out there will routinely beat the majority of the shooters in other divisions, shooting heads-up. This is one reason why I think the overall combined results should always be published, even though they are unofficial. Slow torture my ass.
  20. I was able to get Ford's price list to pull up (although the home page of the website seems to be non-functional, at least at the moment), and it looks like they must still be around after all. I emailed them for a dealer price list. If they're still in business, they should be able to take care of the project for me.
  21. Yeah, that might be an option, but it would sure be easier to find a plater that could take care of deepening the serial number while it's there. Like I said, Ford's used to do this sort of thing, but I can't confirm that they are still around. Gun finishers don't live long, you know....
