  1. Shot my first competition this weekend as well. Shot SS, so there were alot of mag changes. Had to plan the stages out well for it to work out. The mental part of the planning was 1/2 the fun I think! All my stages went basically as planned except for one where you were required to reload after hitting a popper..... so you had to plan around that. Of course right as I was moving to shoot the popper my gun jammed and I had to clear and change the magazine. Messed my plan all up, as I couldn't shoot the popper then or I'de have to change the mag again... had to think fast! Lots of fun... I like the idea of shooting limited minor for a while... I may do that with the CZ I just picked up. Worry less about mag changes and more about shooting and moving.
  2. How much is the competition level trigger job? I just picked up a used (800rds) SP-01 Shadow Target model last night. Never even touched one until I picked mine up from my FFL. First reaction.. "Whoa...this thing is HEAVY." It came with the sheet stating the trigger pull in SA(3lb 11oz) and DA(8lb) so I assume it's the standard action job. I'll shoot it a while like it is before changing anything though as it just feels really good. Swapped the stock cocobola grips for the thinner V2 diamond tiger stripe G10 ones fairly quickly and like the thinner feel. Can't wait to shoot it...
  3. I went to my "gun guy" to pick up a new gun last night and told him about the issue at the range. Without even knowing what class or gun I was shooting he said "shooting a Kimber?" Yup. He shook his head and said it happens to most of them. Improper extracter adjustment.
  4. Thanks. I just finished watching a video on extractor adjustment too. Looks like I'll start there.
  5. Old thread, but I had the same issue yesterday at my first match. Not sure if the problem was me (not seating the mags fully) or the gun or the magazines... or the new ammo. The gun (Kimber CDP) only has about 350 rounds thru it. Most guys at the range said to go shoot the crap (1000-2000rds) out of it before worrying about changing anything. So the gun is fairly new, the mags are brand new 8rd Kimpro Tac Mags. I ALSO was shooting DC Ammo for the first time thru the gun vs. Winchester white box before that (never experienced this with the Winchester stuff). So it could be almost anything... It typically jammed on the second or third magazine... but once it jammed on the first one, last round of the magazine. I couldn't say what round it jammed on the other times as I would just clear and change mags and continue. The gun is well lubed and started the day clean. Anybody got recommendations on what to look for?....or should I just go shoot a bunch of rds thru it? My current plan is to not touch it and go run more white box ammo thru it and see if the issue goes away. If so... then maybe the recoil spring is too firm for the softer DC loads and it's not cycling fully?
  6. Atlanta Arms is great stuff. I used them for Single Stack Nationals this year and the ammo was awesome. Made 175 PF and still shot flat enough to be comfortable and competitive. Also check out Doug Carden at DC ammo. I shot some of his stuff after meeting him at Single Stack 2011 and it was also top notch. I'm sure there are others but I have had great experiences with those two Thanks Matt. I have a stack of DC Ammo waiting to hit the range this weekend. Just discovered he undercharged me by $35... had to call him and let him know. His reply words.. "that's why I love the shooting industry."
  7. Just soaking up all the info to be head here. My first shoot is this weekend so I've been reading all I can. Great site!
  8. Excellent, thank you much. My first shoot in in a couple days and this helps tremendously!
  9. I guess I should say for an SP-01..
  10. I can't find a PDR in stock anywhere..... anybody know of somewhere I'm missing?
  11. Glad I saw this post... i thought I was just bad at the whole thing.
  12. Was it because the brass was being shipped out of the country, or did they say this apply to US shipments as well?
  13. I'm dreading when that day comes.....
  14. the background is perfect, because the car looks like it is worth more than any of the houses. no offense if it is your house. Thanks... this is just outside my work. Unlike the ghetto where your car is worth more than your house.... my house is worth a TAD more.
  15. Ridgecrest, CA. I know that place. Used to date a girl whose family lived up there. Nice drive up there and kind of significant place to boot. China Lake is right near there and the base where they developed a lot of the stuff for Fat Boy and Little Boy. On topic: I am shooting SS this year and am having a blast with it. You will enjoy yourself and may find you are not in too big of a rush to shoot anything else! Welcome and hope to see you down at RRGC, Sac Valley or Solano Target Masters. www.actionpistol.org has all the matches in our area. Check it out. That's US alright! Thanks for the welcome. Apparently the local club goes to numerous shoots within 2 hours drive time, so I'll probably hang around with those guys and see how it goes.
  16. Yea, that's about right. I'm paying $125 to get my Shadow registered in Ca. including the DROS. No tax though as it's used. Such is life in the Golden State....
  17. I'll give ya $60 shipped for the PDR if you don't like it. Let me know....
  18. Well that was easy....Thank You and congrats to motochris on picking up my 650 setup. Placing my 1050 order with Brian today!!! It WAS easy!! Now I gotta start looking at all the other BS I need.... Thanks Dan!
  19. Newbie here.. what does "broke 90" mean?
  20. Got an email from Doug late last night, so he must be burning the midnight oil. I'll be ordering from him. Thanks for the heads up!
  21. That's one of my pet peaves. HATE IT!!! I've had plenty of nice cars door dinged. I tend to park away as much as possible. Heaven help the soul who door dings my '59 Chevy wagon....
  22. The actual maker is smart not to compete with the retailers that keep them in business. You never want to undercut your dealers.
  23. For 85%... I'de lean towards new myself. That's basically a 15% discount. That said.... I'de be interested in the 650 if you decide to sell. I need to do 9mm and 45acp as well.
  24. I hope so.. I'de have a better idea if he'de return my calls. Called him yesterday, but got him on his cell phone as he'de left the shop. He said to email what I need and he'de call me today. Did that, hadn't heard back by 4pm his time today, then called and left a message as well... still nothing... I'll try the other ammo guys tomorrow. I need rounds by the 18th.
  25. Size 38 pants, measured at 41".. ordered a 44" and now that I have it I think I'de be better with a 42. 44 will work though.
