  1. Took rifle to TFD, and beyond 300yds, couldn't hit squat... Went zero range twice during match, and even at 100 yds, was having issues holding a good group inside 2" resting handguard off table... The gas block is still making contact with inside bottom surface of hg, so it's coming off. Ordered the recommended SLR sentry... Will post up with results after the install, and a day at the range.
  2. I want to give a shout out and congrats for Bryan and Brian from team Sampson. Great job guys, and enjoyed shooting with you!
  3. Koop, I had a couple misses off the barricades at SC regional also... Was standing, but not locking legs, and after sprinting on both stages, I was pretty wobbly trying to steady handguard on top of barricades... I wound up going prone for the 275 yd stage, and only missing 1 out of 11 shots
  4. It wasn't the size of the target that made it so tough... It was fact that they were tipped back 45degrees with a nice ledge on front locking them to the stand... A more powerful load would definately been a benefit...
  5. Well, this stage fell right after our rushed lunch break, and there was a 6 min cart ride from previous stage to this one... When my partner and I arrived, the 5 min walk thru was finishing up, and the first guy up was ready to go... I was second... I walked it one time, but did not 'study' or walk up on the tiny lock-on style targets, so I didn't consider a choke change... In the end, I was unprepared when my turn came, and struggled on the stage... Lessons learned... I feel like my loads are decent, and not super light... 1 1/8 oz 3 dram #7 1/2 noble sport sporting clays
  6. I did a little 'fitting' also on my Syrac block screws, but I can't take enough off the clamp ears to keep handguard from contacting bottom edge... I will have to switch to the low profile style with set screws in bottom
  7. So, I put the new BravoCompany KMR-13 handguard on my rifle recently, and as we discussed in another thread, had to change the gas block out to fit it under this new ultra slim rail. I used the Syrac/JP clamp style adjustable block, and after getting it all installed and tuned, think I may have a slight issue... The area on gas block where tabs are for (2) screws just contacts the inside lower edge of the handguard... This causes concern, due to fact barrel is no longer completely 'free-floating'... I didnt notice anything wrong while sighting in and shooting out to 100yds, but when we stretched on out to 300 or so, it wasn't as accurate as it was with old big heavy (lots of clearance) handguard... Guess Im gonna either do some machining on the gas block, or look for another brand that offers more clearance... In the other thread on gas blocks, several good brands were mentioned, but I looked at them, and most seem to use the 'set screws' digging into barrel surface to prevent movement...
  8. I'm surprised to see slots stil available for this match, after reading all the great things about prior TFD matches... I guess this type of open, physically demanding, long range, use-all-3-guns, not a bay-after-bay match seperates the men from the boys
  9. No need for a cart, you drive from stage to stage and get your gear from your vehicle. Thanks finbox
  10. Did I read correctly? No atv's or golf carts at Legion? looks like its vehicle from stage to stage, and 3gun carts/buggies or bags
  11. famous last words ya ya... i know... im just kiddin... it will literally kick my butt... im just hoping to finish!! I have heard all about AH matches! Bring your running shoes!
  12. Koop, I was 2 1/2 turns out w the JP block, and am at 1 3/4 on the Syrac... Guys at JP said that changing the handguard and shaving off nearly a pound is what is causing the muzzle to climb... They said the guns were weighted in the front to help reduce recoil and muzzle climb, and I went and cut a pound of flesh off the beast....
  13. Nickoli, I'm so looking forward to TFD also... Should be a good season opener and warm up... Then an easy day at BITB, some other stuff in the middle, then wrap up with BLue Ridge...
  14. Corey, you won't have any problems, just do some wind sprints, then offhand rifle at 130yds, then more sprints, clays and steel w SG, then 40 push-ups, and 8 paper with pistol... No problems Pose, I'm right there with ya... Baby stuff may slow my game down too Dave, look forward to seeing you there!
  15. Okay, I had put a Syrac/JP gas block on recently, and took a JP adjustable block off, to get block under a keymod rail. I started at the 2 turns out recommended setting, and was able to go in a half turn, and get bolt to lock back, therefore giving me the least amount of gas needed to to run the gun... One thing I did notice though, the gun had a LOT more rise and jump with this new gas block than the old JP block... May try running with more gas, to try and reduce what goes out barrel and hits comp... What do you guys think??
  16. So reading all this great SBR info, vs 18" rifle length gas gun has me puzzled... I shot the new Adams Arms 16" COR piston gun, and it HAS a rifle length gas system on it, so there's not much barrel after the block... It shoots as soft and flat as my JP gun, and maybe just a hair softer
  17. What size magazine are you using to monopod from? It seems that a lot of people are thinking the 40 rounders are the ticket. I use a 30 round P Mag with a Ranger base. It allows a little smoother elevation adjustment, and the 30 round is short enough that you can spread your elbows out farther for stability. I used a 30 rd pmag with a +15 Nordic extension on it.... It was a little tall, but turned out useful to help see the plate rack over tall grass.
  18. Fortunately for everyone, it looks like Keith's superhuman performance won't be factored in. I was the top semi pro as far as I know (unless Romero decided to sign up for semi pro, lol), so the points will be based on a MUCH more realistic score. Nice match, Andrew! your score is none too shabby, and will still mount a steep curve to be scored against for other semi-pro's...
