  1. You can't force a PCC shooter to shoot one handed...  But a PCC shooter can choose to shoot one handed if he wants to.

If you feel the need for shooting while carrying a bowling ball on the move, the PCC shooter can set down the ball and shoot with two hands if he wants to...  Then pick up the ball and run again...  or shoot one handed on the move if he'd rather.

  2. I ordered a Wiland Modular Chassis System and a Stainless 10/22 LLW barrel...  My order sat with the 'Pre Shipment' tag for a month...  I called a few times and sent an email...  Never heard back.

At about the one month mark, I received the barrel...  First 10/22 barrel I've installed so I took my time installing it...  Another week after I received the barrel, my chassis arrived...  Beautiful workmanship...  Absolutely worth the wait.

I had a complete action, so I completed the build in about an hour and drove out to the rang and shot it...  Couldn't be happier...  I don't remember the wait as much now...  Hope you guys get yours soon.

I run a CMMG RDB with the following set up. It is very smooth with very little dot movement.

    • A5 Buffer Tube
    • Blitz 9mm buffer 5015HD with blitz spacer weight
    • Tubbs flat wire spring
    • 124gr reloads running 136 PF

With an A5 tube the spacer/HD buffer short strokes the system to the perfect length since the bolt length is the same as a 5.56 AR.

Lots of people run the 5015HD and steel buffer weight in standard carbine length buffer tubes...  I ran my PCC like that for quite a while...  But when you move the 5015HD and steel buffer weight to an A5 buffer tube with no other changes, you are effectively long stroking your PCC...  Not usually what you want.

BTW, the retrieval method suggested by the NROI Instructor was to get a 30 gallon trash bag to put over your arm, reach down and find the pistol, then hand it as is to the shooter.  Fat chance I'm doing that.  Plus, what are the chances of finding a 30 gal. trash bag at the shoot?

That's too much...  I think these guys are having some fun at your expense...  No one would go in a porta potty after a gun unless it was (maybe) their gun.

I've never used a left side one for SCSA, but I figure if you need to use the charging handle, your string is toast anyway, so the position isn't as important.

That's absolutely correct...  I just found the right side charging handle to be super awkward in general.

Looked at the Magnum Research receiver first but found it difficult to find one, plus it was a proprietary bolt/charging handle setup...  Several friends bought complete MR rifles and slipped them into Wiland chassis systems, but that was too expensive for me...  I checked out the Tactical Innovations receiver and talked to @Gregg Kabout his and decided to try one...  I have all the parts except the Wiland chassis and barrel.

Did that slowed down the wifi or also the PractiScore app and tablets used at stages?

I've seen in Florida that a spare tablet been put on a separate public wifi and updated periodically from the private network.

It slowed down the WiFi connection and some of the scoring tablets dropped off the network...  The first time it happened was during one of our large Level II matches, so I didn't really have time to analyze what was going on...  It was especially bad at the end of the match...  Everyone was trying to check their scores and I was still trying to pull all the match scores for the awards ceremony.

Since then we have upgraded our tablets...  Purchased a better router and mounted it in a better/higher spot on a flag pole...  Part of my thinking on that was because PractiScore now sends more data per person...  Not sure if it is significant traffic wise...  Just sort of future proofing.

Per your second statement...  We have seven bays in a row at the back of our range...  For large USPSA and SCSA level II matches we add an addition range that's about 300 yards away...  I usually plug in a small travel router just for that range so I can grab the scores throughout the match...  The master tablet syncs automatically to the second network so I can grab the scores...  Then I upload the scores to my phone and upload them to PractiScore.com.

I'm hoping someone can tell me how to sync the Practiscore Competitor app for live updates when I'm at a match.  Should the scoring devices show up in the sync screen if we're on the same wifi?  Do I have to get a sync code off of one of the scoring devices?  I must be getting old because I've poked around and I'm not sure where to start but I'm not alone because I've talked to a couple others at my club and they didn't know either.

    Any help is appreciated.

The club has to allow open connections to their WiFi network for you (or anyone) to connect and sync scores to your own tablet.

We used to run an open network and allow anyone to sync scores during matches...  As more people started using PractiScore Competitor during matches, it put a load on our network and started slowing it down...  Sort of a DOS (denial of service) attack, but not malicious.

Now all of our matches have a secure network password, so no one can access the match scores during a match...  However...  I do upload the scores to PractiScore.com about once an hour during large matches...  That way shooters can grab their scores without overloading our network.

Yeah, still got the same pre shipment update when I check my tracking.  That was on the 28th of December, I’ve had multiple email replies since then and they all just say it will be shipped shortly, lol

It's been three weeks for my order...  Still says "Awaiting Fulfillment" not pre shipment...  Mybe I'm further down in the queue.

    Hope you get yours soon!

To be clear I am running the "clean" blue head CCI SV   I have run the regular CCI SV before with success but the heavy wax on the bullet heads was a problem in cold weather and greatly increased the need for cleaning the mags and rifle.

With CCI "clean" I found that I would get a very occasional round that did not sound quite right and even sometimes would not cycle properly  I felt that this variance in FPS was probably going to be the norm for this ammo so I started playing with the spring cutting a little at a time and used CCI subsonic ( I think ) that was rated at 970 FPS .... once I had that running nearly 100%  I was where I wanted to be for match reliability with the CCI SV clean.

I would not run any HV with that spring though.

Thanks for the explanation...  First I have heard of the 'Clean' CCI SV ammo...  I Googled it and found an interesting article comparing the clean and standard versions of CCI 22 ammo:

    https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2019/5/14/tested-cci-clean-22-ammo/

I have a lot of the standard CCI SV ammo and plan to use it in my Wiland chassis and sleeved barrel (once I get them)...  If I have any trouble at this point, it would probably be easier/cheaper for me to buy a second barrel than to find different .22 ammo.

I just ordered a vltor charging handle, thinking just maybe that might be the culprit. It's a hail Mary at this point. Yes, on the last round the bolt catches on the follower, when I depress the follower the bolt closes. I really have no idea what is wrong.

Have you tried a genuine Glock magazine yet?

It's possible that the magazine is located too high in your lower...  My QC10 lower has a flat bar held in by a set screw that stops magazines from going up to far...  Make sure your lower has that piece in the right spot...  make sure that your magazines have a flat spot near the top that locates the magazine vertically so it doesn't go up too far...  Maybe it got chewed up somehow.

I use the Wiland barrel and chassis.... Tactical innovations receiver, CPC reworked Ruger bolt, Kidd buffer, Kidd recoil system with a 10% spring shortened almost a 1/4 inch shooting CCI SV clean is my SC match standard.  During this "off season " down here in NE Florida I swapped the recoil spring for a standard one and I am using up Federal white box 325 rd count ( 1200 FPS )

Interesting that you're running CCI SV through a shortened 10% spring in a Wiland sleeved barrel...  Did you decide to shorten the 10% spring because you had jams,  or did it just seem to run smoother/better?

That's very similar to the Wiland chassis/barrel that I'm putting together...  Still waiting on some parts, so I haven't shot it yet...  I use CCI SV ammo in my RFPO Ruger Mk 2/3 pistol with good results...  My thoughts are that the CCI SV runs well in my pistol with a shorter barrel than the Wiland sleeved barrel...  So it should work well with the Wiland sleeved barrel.

Happy to read that you have good luck with the CCI SV ammo...  I have a fair bit of it and plan to run it in SC RFRO.

Todd wound up with Covid and that has put him a bit behind last I heard.  He's a good dude - email him and I'm sure he'll get you a status update.

That's a shame...  I hope he is recovering...  Feeling better.

I ordered one of his chassis systems and a barrel a couple of weeks ago...  Was going to call him...  Guess I'll let him work in peace and catch up.

Received the SI bolt, haven't shot it yet but hand cycling seems to be working. I am having two issues. I don't use LRBHO on my competition gun and it seems like the SI ramped barrel and bolt are only supposed to be used on guns that do. Issue #1: full magazine cannot be loaded on closed bolt. Issue #2: on Magpul magazines, the bolt catches on the follower after the last round is fired. Is this supposed to happen?

I've never used a LRBHO device on any of my PCCs...  No issues.

Maybe your magazine springs are stiff...  Try taking one round out and see if that helps...  If you need more capacity, buy a Glock 31 round magazine and a Taran Tactical +10 extension...  Load it to 38 rounds and you're good to go.

Do you mean that the bolt catches on the magazine follower?  Never seen that.

When we (fellow shooters) switched to 10/22's and some using the Wiland sleeved barrel (5" actuall barrel and question of pressures), one of our group had some issues with standard velocity ammo feeds and when he switched to 10% Kidd reduction recoil spring, it resolved the issue.  So like a lot of us, we jumped on the reduced spring.  Truth is, I shoot HV most of the time and don't have an issue with the 10% reduction with it.  The new Magnum Research receiver I received last week has the standard recoil spring in it.  I did not change it.  When I shot it with the light weight 16" Briley barrel, it ran perfectly.  I have friends who did not change to the reduced recoil springs and thiers run perfectly but they use HV ammo.  I suppose if you shoot standard velocity and it acts up, maybe try reduced.  One thing my group does do is change extractor to Volquartsen.

Thanks for the details on the CCI Standard Velocity ammunition...  I have a Wiland chassis and one of his sleeved barrels on order and plan to use CCI Standard Velocity ammunition...  I've heard that some people have trouble with it in a Wiland sleeved barrel...  My plan was to go with a lower weight recoil spring if I had trouble...  Like I did with my Ruger Mk2/3 RFPO pistol...  Thanks for confirming that plan...  I'll order some of the springs while I'm waiting for the rest of my RFRO rifle parts to arrive.

One of the problems I have is shooting at two clubs where the targets face East and the sun is coming up behind you.  The red dot is almost invisible on thoase stages.  So I took my bullseye optic off and mounted it on my rifle.  It has a long hood and a polarizing lens you can screw in the front.  The polarizer lets you dim the view in the tube so you can see the dot superimposed on the target.  You must shoot two eyed for this to work.  Here is the sight.  http://www.ultradotusa.com/ultradotdist2010_008.htm  Another advantage is you can set the dot for the best MOA for an application.  It is no heavier than a C-More railway.

You can do the same thing by putting a piece of tape across the front of your red dot...  It looks odd, but you can see the sight picture as long as you keep both of your eyes open...  Good for training to keep both eyes open.

I've been using them from day two or three.  I have trouble getting the  single mags in and out of my gun.  That was with the clear and black.  The Double Kross was much easier.  It was also cheaper than the $30 extensions everyone was using.  I ran into a sale on Ruger black mags, so I bought more and ordered five Double Cross sets plus their take down and assembly tool.  I've been using them for years with zero problems.  In fact, I just ordered another set and converted my last two single mags.  The cheapest way to do this is to buy Ruger black mags on sale and convert.  The Ruger 5 round mags also work and you can sometimes find them for $15 on sale.  Only the frame is different.  The springs, rotors, screw and feed lips are the same as the 10-round mags.

The Tandem Kross mag deal they have now is more expensive than you might think.  The unassembled kit plus tax, shipping and handling bring the total up to around $45 each, and you have to buy the $15 assembly tool (plus t, s and h) to assemble the parts.  That's okay if you are starting with no mags.  If you have mags already, but the assembly/disassembly took and the shells ($10) and use your existing guts.

When I ordered the last shell, I also ordered some spare springs and rotors.  Just for fun I assembled one and everything worked just like the Ruger guts.  I put the Ruger guts back in just for consistency.  I would have zero problem using the TK replacement parts if needed.  It beats buying a whole new mag.

Thanks for the update...  I bought a three pack of the 10 round BX-1 magazines from Ruger and three of the DoubleKross magazine bodies from TandemKross...  My plan is to take two of the Ruger BX-1 magazines and convert them to a DoubleKross...  I'll use the third BX-1 to use as a control magazine in case I have some kind of issue with the DoubleKross...  I also bought the assembly kit from TandemKross.

I mainly bought these now because they were in stock...  Wanted to have a couple of mags when I finally get all the parts to put my 10-22 together...

Changed only the barrel and handguard, I'm guessing the face of the barrel needs polish, or the magazine is not seated high enough.. I purchased an SI bolt to rule out if the issue is with the bolt. I'll see what SI responds with.

The SI barrels require a notched bolt face, which I assumed is what SI did for you...  How long did you run the SI barrel with the un-notched bolt?  It's possible that the bolt smashed into the barrel ramp and damaged it.

Having feeding issues with new SI ramped PCC barrel, wanted to see if anyone has any cures.

    Components:

QC10 upper and lower receiver, Glock

    QC10 bolt

    ETS and Magpul Glock magazines

    Factory ammo (federal syntech)

    Issues

    - magazine won't feed in when full

    - ammo gets caught at an angle between the barrel and bolt

Didn't have this issue with kvp barrel

I've used most of what you're using with good results...  Did you change anything else when you installed the SI barrel?  Are you using the same buffer, spring and spacers (if short stroked) as before?  Were you using the same Syntech ammunition with your other barrel?  Might try a geniune Glock magazine.

I have some of both the dark and the clear but I have went to using the TK Double Kross magazine bodies. I bought a lot of the Ruger standard  10 round magazines and took all the guts out and put them in the TK double magazines. The TK double has been more reliable than my original Rugers and they are clear to keep you from making that mistake that most of us have done. One of our local guys was having a heck of a time with his Kidd gun not running and after he switched to the TK double he finally was able to get through a match without cussing the gun. 🙂

    https://www.tandemkross.com/Double-Kross-1022®-Magazine-Body-for-the-Ruger®-1022®-Rotary-Magazines_p_226.html

TK sells the guts for them now but I'm not comfortable buying plastic feed lips when I can have steel for the same money. Most don't realize that the primary ejector for the 10/22 is on the feed lips.

I've seen TandemKross double magazines, but I've never run across anyone actually shooting them in a match...  Nice to hear that you've had good results with them...  Wouldn't need magazine extensions with the double magazine...

Had no idea that the magazine feed lips also performed as an ejector...  I've built AR-15's and 9mm PCC rifles, but these 10/22's are quite a bit different...  Appreciate all the tips.

I'm using a couple of left side charging Tactical Innovation receivers with Kidd trigger groups and Kidd bolts.

    https://www.tacticalinc.com/catalog/category/774/606/1943

I had bought a Magnum Research receiver but wasn't happy with the quality of the bolt and it was going to be too much trouble to replace their propitiatory bolt with another so I sold the whole thing. The one I sold the receiver to said the bolt was not the quality of his other MR bolts and got them to replace the bolt so I guess the QC at MR has had problems too. Another high level shooter that we all know said that the TacSol product has been declining in quality and quit using them. I like the Tactical Innovations receiver but would not use their trigger group.

Didn't realize the MR receiver was proprietary...  That wouldn't be a deal breaker, but I'd rather have interchangeable parts if possible.  it is disappointing to hear about their quality going down.

The Tactical Innovations receiver looks like a nice piece...  I definitely plan on getting a receiver with the charging handle on the left side...  It looks like the charging handle and assembly hardware are sold separately from the receiver...  Is that what you used with the KIDD bolt?  The charging handle looks kind of flimsy...  Seems like it might bind up...  Does it work all right?

    Thanks again for the info!
