  1. Trying to decide between the TacSol X-Ring and the Magnum Research receiver/bolt...  Can't find the Magnum Research receivers for sale anywhere (besides in a complete gun)...  Where's the best place to buy a Magnum Research receiver?

What receiver are most of you guys using in a Wiland chassis?

The grip you copied is the one that comes with the chassis, it is a lot like the K2 grip, you will likely be happy with it.

Thanks...  I like the K2+ grip because it's ruberized in addition to a good angle...  I'm used to it but would try out the one that comes with the chassis...  adding all the AR parts will make it heavier, so will try the standard parts first.

This is a shot of the top of the grip that comes with the chassis so you can see the slot that it rides in. One screw comes in from the top and the grip has a nut built in.

The adapter that Todd is working on to use a standard AR grip would just be a block that slides in the same slot. AR grips that have a big beaver tail would likely need to have it trimmed off some.

    Great pictures...  Thanks!

I like the Magpul K2+ grips...  Might have to trim them down a bit.

Does the grip you have come with the Wiland chassis kit?

Since many are posting their thoughts on the many different chassis systems available for the 10-22, I decided to share my initial experiences with the Wiland.

This is how I have it setup presently.

Nice writeup...  Thanks for posting it.

I'm also considering a Wiland chassis...  I like it but I'm waiting to see how the AR grip attachment works...  Seems odd to me that you need an extra attachment for an AR grip...  Seems like everyone would rather have an AR type grip...  Same for the butt stock.

You mentioned the ability to move the grip forwards and back sound interesting...  Maybe that's why he makes a special adapter?  Got a close up of that?

For matches I prefer tape so there isn't trash blowing around the range. Seems people can't find a trash can for the paster backing

    Now that's a good answer...  🙂

The time is still recorded on the timer so it’s not lost if Bluetooth goes out and if you’re scoring the stage right it makes no difference if time is entered manually or pushed via sync. I see so many people afraid of technology in the shooting sports.

It makes no difference to your score, but you lose all the digital data if the time is typed in manually...  No shot times...  No graphs...  etc.

The final time there is to give a rough idea how much "time" you've added to your run by shooting Cs, Ds, etc. There is also a "Time Only" option that uses this math for the results ranking and also shows times on the bar chart.

Also, when you haven't shot stage yet (in the middle of the match) - the same data as in the "purple" box is calculated against the best current scores and shown for the incomplete stages, so you have that cost of Cs, Ds and Ms before you've shot (relative to the current best results).

    Good tips, Thanks Eugene!

At club-level matches I'm like that too. I like to know the current standings. Eric G. advanced courses also have a section about score math - like calculating how many stage points you gain or loose by comparing times and hits. Eric can do it in his head and fast. I can't, so I built most of it into PS Competitor app - it shows your target times (either comparing to the current leader or to stage HHFs for classifiers) and time-cost of lost hits (C, D, M, NS and Ps all basically add time to your run) and when available you can sync score updates right into PS Competitor app trough the club wifi even if results aren't posted to PractiScore web site. And even if you can't sync current scores, you can manually enter your and your buddy scores into the app to compare during match.

Are you talking about the two boxes I have highlighted in the attached Practiscore Compeitor screen print?

The top (red) box does the math to show what my hit factor would have been if I had shot all alphas on the course.

The next (purple) box seems to use Eric's formula that you are talking about...   So the time penalty for a Charlie on this stage is 0.33 and the penalty for a delta is 0.66...  So if I make up a Charlie with an Alpha and a 0.15 split, it's worthwhile on this stage?  What is the significance of the "Final 16.62" time?  I realize that it is my hit factor plus the penalty times, but I'm not sure what that tells me...  How it helps me?

The timer dos it, no missed times/ no incorrect times/ no transposed numbers / no "don't plus 2 me Bro" problems

If you're dead set on these displayless timers...  I suggest you buy one and let your Range Officers try it first...

No display, I don't see a need for it, there is already a "display" on every stage/squad,  there is so much more info visible, AND it's not a tiny hard to see/read display.

I assume you mean that the other display is a PractiScore tablet?

How does an RO determine whether he is capturing any shots without a display on the timer?

You should discuss the displayless timer option with your Range Officers before buying timers with out displays...  Not worth it to save a few bucks...

How much difference do you see in FPS when its really hot out?  I dont know how much of a difference it would make for steel.

If you mean Steel Challenge, there is no power factor.

    Shoot the load you like.

I'm using the Kynshot HD buffer and I now realize that neither of the springs are fully compressing so it's not an issue. Should have figured that out on my own!!!!

I assume you mean the KynShot rb5015hd buffer?

So you added a buffer tube that is .75" longer and then only added one quarter to make up the difference?

    https://www.blitzkriegcomponents.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=R15015098

Try adding one of the KynShot buffer weights to the front of your 5015 buffer...  You will still need to add some more quarters even with the buffer weight...  Add quarters behind the spring to limit the bolt/buffer travel...  Just make sure the bolt travels far enough behind the cartridge to still grab the next round from the magazine.

Berry's heavy plate 9mm is considerably more accurate than X-Treme.  So is RMR plated.  Both are good for major.  I know you can still find some 115 X-Treme in stock, but I don't know if they are heavy plate.

I'll pass along a tip that a friend got from Roger (Better Bullets).  My friend shoots the PC bullets in his steel Open gun.  They DO lead and gunk up the comp.  He complained to Roger and was given a bottle of CorrosionX.  He was instructed to put one drop in each comp port and let the barrel sit horizontally.  He says it works perfectly, and everything scrapes out as a soft black goo.  I'm going to give them a try in my Open minor gun when Irun out of plated.  I already shoot them, and his PC ammo in some of my non-comp guns.

Are you talking about the CorrosionX CLP?

Actually 3, but really only 2.  The third one has my "Barney" magazine in it held by a Double Alpha magazine holder.  It's a mag with only 1 round that is used to initially load the carbine.  It is used first, charging the carbine and then dropped out.  If it comes out empty, then there is a round in the chamber (which does not have to be checked.)

Two more directly in front that use double magnets, the SpeedRL from TechWellUSA.com (https://techwellusa.com/speedrl.html)

First I've heard of someone using a barney round for PCC.

What is the purpose of just  loading a barney round?

Yep it's Bluetooth related. Before the update I could open the app on my phone, regardless of if Bluetooth was on or not.

Now Bluetooth has to be on for the app to open. In fact if the app is open and I turn off Bluetooth, the app closes.

    I let competition electronics know.

Sounds like you might have paired your DLX directly to your phone...  You don't need/want to do that...  The DLX controls the Bluetooth connection by itself.
